  1. Review titled On hold for 44mins

Rated 1 star out of 5

With a screaming child with a temp and blisters everywhere, I was on hold to the surgery for for 44mins. When I finally got through to a receptionist there were no more appointments for the day. Not even an emergency appointment. Due to this I was forced to call 111 as the surgery is horrendous

Dear Patient I am sorry to hear that your child was unwell and that you had a long wait on the telephone when you called the surgery on Monday afternoon. This was a particularly busy day and our call log showed that our receptionists answered 638 calls throughout the day. In addition they were seeing patients at the front desk and replying to messages sent via our website. I understand that you have received a response back from an enquiry that you also sent through out website. We are continually looking at ways to improve our service to help us cope with the high demand. We are due to have a new telephone system installed that will allow a caller to receive a call back from our receptionist whilst maintaining their place in the queue. This will prevent a caller having to wait on the line for their call to be answered. I do hope your child is feeling better. Please do not hesitate to contact us again, either by our website, phone or in person if you need further assistance. With best wishes Liz Pope Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Awful service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Eastfield House Surgery are becoming one of the worst GP surgeries in Newbury. They said to call at 8am and no one answer the phone until after 9am and when they answer there are no appointments for the day. I called several times with my little one crying , in pain and high temperature and no appointments. Finally had to call 111!! They should prioritise small children. This is a shame.

Dear Patient I am sorry to hear that you have had problems getting through to the surgery on the telephone. We have been trialling a new appointment system to meet the increasing demand for appointments. Unfortunately our phone system was not able to cope with the demand for the number of callers and we have stopped the trial and are due to have a new phone system installed in August 2022. I do hope your child is feeling much better and if you would like to discuss the situation further, please contact me at the surgery. Best wishes Liz Pope Practice Manager
