I hurt my back and was in agonising pain. My husband phoned the surgery about 9am and requested a call back from a doctor as I needed strong pain relief for the back spasms. The receptionist said there were no call back appointments available, but that she could make an appointment for a call back the following day. My husband replied that I needed help sooner than that and that we would ring 111. Receptionist replied - 'that's a good idea and if they deem it necessary for you to have a call back today, they will let us know and we will fit you in'!!!!!!! We called 111, who assessed me and sent an ambulance! The ambulance crew were lovely and said that they would take me to hospital if I wanted them to, but alternatively, they could ring the GP and request they ring me that day. I accepted this alternative as all I needed was pain relief. The GP surgery eventually phoned me back about 4 hours later. The call lasted a total of 51 seconds and the person I spoke to (not sure if he was actually a GP), sent a prescription to my Chemist. We have been registered with this Practice for over 50 years - when they were actually proper family doctors. They are now a glorified call centre and I have absolutely no confidence in them and will be actively seeking a new Practice.

Review titled Dreadful service ruined my holiday

I requested my repeat prescription more than a week before my holiday. They failed to do this. They sent nothing of my prescription by the night before my holiday early next morning. I telephoned but was given no help at all. She said I had to phone the next day between 8and 10 to discuss prescriptions. I explained that I had requested them over a week before with a letter explaining how I was going away and when. She was like a machine. Refusing to help. Saying if I had an emergency to hang up and call 999. As though she was reading out their answering service. My holiday is ruined. I have several serious illnesses and conditions that my medicine is essential. It is ridiculous that you can only phone for 2 hours of the day. She could have got my essential medicines signed for or called my pharmacist. They do not care an iota for the well-being or health or mental health of any of their patients.
