Once upon a time, in the bustling realm of healthcare, there was a place called Cockfosters Medical Centre. Now, you might think this was a magical haven of healing and comfort, but alas, that was not the case. Picture this: a bright, sunny day, and I, with hopeful anticipation, walked through the doors of Cockfosters Medical Centre, seeking care and reassurance. But oh, what a disappointment awaited me! As I approached the front desk, expecting warm smiles and friendly greetings, I was met with a frosty reception. Not one, not two, but a whole battalion of 12 admin staff members stared back at me, their demeanor as chilly as the Arctic winds. Their words were sharp, their tones curt, and their manners lacking in the slightest hint of courtesy. It was as if they had taken lessons in rudeness and unprofessionalism from the grumpiest creatures in all the land! Needless to say, my hopes for a pleasant experience were dashed, and I left Cockfosters Medical Centre with a heavy heart. I vowed then and there never to recommend this practice to anyone in need of care and compassion. So, dear friends, if you ever find yourself in search of a healthcare sanctuary, heed my warning and steer clear of Cockfosters Medical Centre. For in that place, rudeness reigns supreme, and professionalism is but a distant dream. The end

Avoid this practice. I visited the practice recently and I was welcomed with a very rude attitude. I tried to make an appointment to see the GP and it was in 3 weeks time, that was the timeframe for a routine appointment. Very disappointing, I asked the receptionist what options do I have and she didn’t have an answer. I had to ask my work colleagues for advice. This service it’s not adequate and I will never recommend it.

I've been going to this practice for 15 years and I was rejected from being seen or making an emergency appointment when I was ill and needed an appointment, when I was calling at 8:30am on a Friday. The receptionists were rude to me and unhelpful, turning me away in an uncaring and unhelpful manner when they had the power to help me. They said go to a walk in centre in Finchley?!

This surgery was great when I joined about 8 years ago after moving into the area. Yes the building, was as it still is, in need of some tlc but the receptionists were efficient, cheerful and had a bit of empathy. There are still a couple who manage to show this especially one lady who answers the calls when you ring to make an a appointment. She is a lady with a lovely voice and you are very lucky if you get her. Some of the others leave a lot to be desired. Also what’s happened to the prescription service. It used to be that you put your prescription in and it was ready in 48hrs now I have to chase it up by phone- if you can get through. One line rings and rings then cuts out. When you get through they say they have not received it !!!! Even though I put it in the prescription box myself. After you explain that they are extremely important heart medications they say that they will put it through as urgent and that hopefully it will get done today. I understand that this is the run up to Christmas so they are probably mega busy but this happens continuously. I’m alway chasing my prescriptions yet if you try to order too early you get told you are not due this item yet. So frustrating and in my case I’ve often gone without medication that is essential for me. Doctors ok but not brilliant . I would change gp but I’m not able to get around so trapped in Cockfosters. I would not recommend this practice.

From our first interaction with the reception staff, to the experienced and thorough Practice Nurse, and my first consultation with a doctor, we have felt welcomed and taken care of. I was very anxious to swap my previous team upon our move to this area as I had total confidence in my NHS care. Thank you Cockfosters Medical Practice.

This is a great medical practice. I registered 2 years ago following my move to the area and I certainly made a good choice. The GPs and other clinical staff from whom I’ve sought help are without exception professional, knowledgeable and kind. My health issues (I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer 16 months ago) have been addressed promptly and carefully. The reception staff provide an outstanding service and, from my experience, are always patient, polite and friendly. In short, I award Cockfosters Medical Centre not 5 gold stars but a whole galaxy of them!

I will not recommend this practice, to friends or family very unwelcoming receptionists, dry indelicate nurse lack of empathy for patients and small children. Always delays 30min. to 1h then you are inside for less then 5 min. For My little one was not even simple check up done like temperature or mouth, ears, chest checks straight I was told to go to pharmacy really? even virtual doctor will be more interested to do the basic check and ask how she was feeling, also they ask you to put on mask but the receptionist there don’t wear it? I couldn’t get appointment over the phone, called at 8:30 am. I was 24 on the queue by the time they pick up almost 9:00 am I was told sorry call tomorrow morning no more appointments available for today… so I went in person to Gp to be told you need to phone as in the morning… Definitely they need compulsory customers service training! They don’t even acknowledge you when you are waiting in front of them, (busy on the computer or phone), sorry improvement is needed soon as possible bed is broken in nurse room so she was struggling to take a swap disaster, next time will book this elsewhere.

Each time I have called for help I have been given a timely appointment and received excellent medical care this year. I cannot fault the practice and have been impressed at the care I have received in these challenging times for the NHS. I have also found the patches e consult facility very helpful and convenient to use. Thank you so much for looking after me and my family. You have made my life a lot easier this year sorting out prescriptions and seeing me for urgent appointments when I was unwell.

The reception staff are extremely rude. It’s important to remember that people don’t go to the doctors for fun, it’s for a reason. The building is falling apart. The place is filthy and a health hazard to people. Reception staff should have training in being a decent human being and communication skills. Just overall appalling and such a shame that we don’t have a choice of a different surgery. They are taking advantage of us and not putting our hard earned tax money to good use. The building is falling apart.

The doctor prescribed antibiotic and then they can not print the prescription. This happens anytime. You have to wait days to be able to take a prescription and at the time your condition can get worse. Avoid this practice.
