Review titled Great local family practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Robin Marsden-Knight - Posted on 27 December 2023
Have been registered with this practice since we moved through to Durham in mid 2020. The clinicians and support staff have all been great in my experience. I rang for an appointment for my son today and was able to go in this afternoon saw a GP within 10 minutes of walking in the building, and had the prescription to collect at my preferred pharmacy by the time I had walked into town. Whenever we have needed an appointment, they have been accommodating and helpful and either arrange a telephone appointment or a face to face appointment within a day or so. Great all round service from this practice.

Review titled Excellent practice - mostly
Rated 5 stars out of 5

The medical staff at this practice - the GPs and nurses - are first-rate: you really couldn't ask for better. Some - though by no means all - of the reception staff are surly, unhelpful and discourteous, and the telephone answering/appointment booking service is absolutely dire. It is a pity that an otherwise exemplary practice should be let down by front office deficiencies.

Review titled Very bad service
Rated 1 star out of 5

Do not use this surgery if you value your time and sanity. The management and administration of this Practice is inept. The medical staff are (mostly) great, especially the nursing staff. Dire administration and reception are the reason I would strongly recommend that nobody registers with this Practice. Telephone wait times are usually 30-35 minutes plus. And the 'agents', when they eventually answer, are dismissive, condescending, incompetent and bordering on rude. Even the desk reception staff are clueless and of little help in dealing with the ordinary tasks of a GP Surgery, i.e. delivering the correct medications when they say they have but they haven't. My repeat prescriptions are seldom dealt with without having to ring them up 2 or 3 times (or more) to get mistakes and omissions corrected. Also, appointment reminders are not sent out when they should be, instructions to bring in a morning sample are not given when this is required, which means another journey to fetch it in. They can seldom give you an appointment when you do get through, because they have some problem with booking more than 5 days ahead due to 'lists not in yet'. They are an absurd anachronism of a surgery stuck in the 19th century. Very poor and not got any better over the 2 years I have been with them. I thought they might improve after previous conversations with the Practice Manager and the Deputy Practice Manager, but nothing has actually changed. I am so glad to be moving out of Durham. Here's hoping that my review will help some others choose a different GP Surgery.

This is a very friendly and helpful practice. The medical staff go out of their way to help resolve your medical problems.

Review titled Terrible service
Rated 1 star out of 5

They are extremely unhelpful. My daughter has bad stomach cramps, she had been unwell all night. I called them, after almost an hour waiting (from 8.34 - 44 in the queue - to 9.24) i have been waiting to get an appointment. When I finally spoke to them, I was told there are no more appointments, to call tomorrow. this is an appalling service. The Lady was extremely rude to me.

Review titled Fully staffed with psychic doctors
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Doctors never physically see you anymore, all done over the phone. Far from ideal. Regardless of the problem they either say its serious and you need A&E, or you get telephone call.
