  3. Review titled Happy with the service so far

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Had to use online service for myself and my son this week. Was contacted within ten minutes. I had just transferred my son to the gp. He has asd, when I spoke to the gp he was extremely understanding and provided medication for his symptoms straight away. His previous doctor wanted to send him for test which dosnt go down very well. So I was really happy that the doctor listened and understood.

  4. Review titled Unable to contact

Rated 1 star out of 5

Phones are switched off after 9:30am, only open again at 1pm. Then it is impossible to get an afternoon appointment. I only need a statement of fitness to return to work.

Dear David Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you've had trouble contacting the practice by telephone. Our telephones haven't been switched off at all. We have been extremely busy; this morning we have 5 receptionists answering telephone calls. Our telephone system only holds 5 people in the queue at any one time so anyone calling when there are already 5 people waiting gets an engaged tone. I assume this is what has happened to you. The AskmyGP service is open from 8am until 10am Mon - Fri except for Wednesday when it's open 8am until 9am. You can submit a request for a fit note using AskmyGP. We are aware that patients are having difficulty contacting the practice at present; we are working on a different way of handling AskmyGP requests but progress getting the system set up is very slow - - because of the demand we have at present. We have 2 staff on holiday this week and 2 staff on sick leave - it's very difficult to spare the staff to plan and implement a new system when we are so busy as we usually use an 'all hands on deck' approach when demand is high. I'm sorry, I cannot give you more reassurance that access will improve soon, I can only say that we are trying our very best and will continue to do so until we have a more improved system in place. If you still need your fit note, you could submit the request tomorrow morning between 8am and 10am using AskmyGP - if you are unsure how to use AskmyGP you could e-mail me on esther.jackson@nhs.net and I will help you. I hope this helps. Esther Jackson Training Manager
