    I live in North Shields but often choose to attend clinic at Battle Hill because the nursing staff there are so kind, warm and caring. A Smear Test is a necessary evil but even this was made an enjoyable experience thanks to the compassion and good humour of the exceptional nurse who looked after me. The staff at Battle Hill could not be doing a better job, our NHS must be treasured and protected at all costs.

    I had an appointment on November 23 to pick up the hearing aid at 09:15 in the morning. I took time off from work to be able to pick up my first hearing aid, which I've been waiting for over a year. at 8:10 am on the day of the appointment, I get a call saying my appoitment is cancelled. No one has told me when the next meeting will be. after a few days I called the audiology department myself (freeman hospital) and was informed that my next appointment is on December 5 at 15:00. I'm taking time off work again. You won't guess what happened. of course, on the same day (i.e. today when I am writing this opinion) I got a message at 10:00 in the morning that they are canceling my appointment again, this is an open mockery of the patient.

    Dear Monika Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry to hear that you have encountered some difficulties with your Audiology appointments. As you may know there is more than one service provided at Battle Hill Health Centre and the NHS review site that you left your review on relates to the GP surgery. I have forwarded a copy of your comments to the Audiology Department at Freeman hospital and requested that they investigate the matter further. However, due to the large number of patients that they deal with they may be unable to investigate based on the limited demographic information provided. It may be worthwhile you contacting Freeman Hospital direct to discuss the matter further. I do hope you manage to get sorted.   3. Review titled extremely good practice

    All staff were very helpful and pleasant. receptionists were so polite and put me right at ease she, the Audioligist was superb explaining everything so well. I left with 2 hearing aids that made my hearing perfect. all in all a very enjoyable appointment. Even my taxi driver was the best.

    Never mind making an appointment being a pain, I can’t even get through on the phone during the times they are supposed to be open? I’ve been trying to call between 12 and 1:30 today and am met with the message “our offices are now closed, our opening times are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday” oh really? Well why can’t I speak to someone just to order a prescription then? I’m trying to call Tuesday between these hours. Why are the phone lines down? The most unprofessional service I’ve ever had to deal with in the past, and it only gets worse and worse each day.

    Dear Kris Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review - it was a pleasure to speak with you a few moments ago. As I explained the practice was closed for the afternoon to facilitate a training session. These sessions have been supported by North Tyneside CCG. We do make every effort to inform patients of this closure but I am sorry if this information didn't come to your attention. Unfortunately we are no longer able to send text messages to all patients in relation to this type of situation. As I mentioned you can order your prescription via a variety of different avenues including the direct prescription line which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. I advised that this number is available on the right hand side of your prescription print out which the pharmacy should be giving to you when you collect your medication. I also advised that during the closure there is doctors on duty covering any urgent requests. Unfortunately it does appear that there have been some technical issues in relation to the message that the telephone system gave out, and I will be looking into this element.
