  1. Review titled Avoid! GP is awful, nurses are the backbone here

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 May 2023

The nurses taking blood tests/ecgs are amazing and really care about you and making sure you are comfortable and understand. Unfortunately this is overshadowed by a particular gp and their attitudes. Due to chronic symptoms affecting my quality of life have had multiple appointments and either been ignored/gaslit. Was not referred until 4 months of begging and that was by a different gp. Even then a different department to what my symptoms relate to??? Explained pain and symptoms to gp and asked for solutions/testing to sort out what is wrong, to which they responded "well obviously I can't give you opiates" when I hadn't even asked for pain relief. Said in a condescending tone as if I was drug seeking. I was in tears. This was after asking the reception team etc and on e consults to not have this particular member of staff contact me and them still doing so anyway. Today I needed a fit note as my problems affect my ability to see and walk, and gp responded that "well we won't keep doing these" So after offering no support, testing, help, anything, gp basically tells me to suck it up and suffer. Also been gaining weight despite dieting and exercising for a year with dieticians help and they won't look for underlying causes. Making out like I am lying!? Even though hypothyroidism and cushings run in my family. Such a shame but I will be leaving for a different gp surgery as I cannot take being spoken to like a piece of dirt and ignored. Most of the rest of the surgery is ok/good but particular gp makes you never want to see a doctor again.

I have visited Surgery twice recently, once to see nurse & once to doctor. Both appointments left me reassured & grateful to be with such caring professionals. Reception always pleasant & helpful. Thank you Barnfield Hill for your care!

  3. Review titled Usual outstanding care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Margaret Yeomans - Posted on 29 June 2022

I noticed a lesion on my arm which I thought needed checking. I rang the surgery at 8.55am & spoke to the usual helpful receptionist. I was given an appointment at 9.30am & saw a locum doctor who reassured me making a plan to contact again in two weeks if necessary. I am so grateful to have such a caring practice after hearing other people’s experiences with theirGPs. Thank you all again for your care.

Dear Margaret, Thank you for your lovely review! It is good to hear that the receptionists are lovely and friendly and we could get you seen very quickly. We work hard to provide good access and a positive patient experience so very pleased to hear your feedback. It has been a difficult few years and we have made lots of changes, so feedback helps us understand what we have right and where we can improve. I will pass this on to the team and thank them for their efforts. Thank you again. Zoe - Practice Manager
