  1. Review titled Warm and welcoming

Kindness is uppermost here. I am surprised at other reviews I have read here. Patient care and understanding the issues of a sick individual are clearly appreciated and there is never a problem getting an appointment. If you have missed the slots in the morning surgery, there is always another chance in the afternoon. Reception staff are keen to listen and will make a note for afternoon staff to facilitate this process. Always listen to the explanation given if you have not managed to get through for 20 minutes and realise demand is high. Explain calmly why you need attention, so the ball is rolling in a positive direction. The workers here do there best and they are human too.

  2. Review titled Prompt replies

The practice allows you to submit a request online and answers received by sms. I have contacted the practice several times in the last few months and received prompt replies on repeat prescriptions and other queries. I am very happy with their service. Using the Ask facility on their contact us page is what works for our family.

  3. Review titled Disgraceful Customer Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I contacted the surgery today for assistance as I am new to the area. I also have a severe chest infection and Covid, I genuinely needed help. I was told to register with the practice of which I did. I called back in the afternoon only to receive the back end of the most rude practice manager. I told her I needed assistance and a doctors consult due to being so ill, I mentioned that I had completed my registration. She told me it was tough and that I had to wait the 5 days for the registration and that the practice would not assist then. I got told bluntly to go and sit in A & E, I will certainly not be visiting this practice ever and I certainly hope people see this and do not register with Ashley Medical Practice. You should be ashamed of how you treat patients.

Registration with GP practice involves a process where other agencies are involved. Your information will be sent, checked and approved then returns to the practice with your previous records. It takes days and can be variable. On many occasions applications might be returned if there is some discrepancy or if some information is incomplete, adding time to the process. Registration cannot be achieved instantly, most of our patients know this and appreciate it. This is not specific only to our practice. For those who are not registered with GP, they can call 111 for non-urgent matters or present to A&E or call 999 for urgent ones.

  4. Review titled Poor customer service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Diabetic blood test taken on Drs advice as diabetes is out of control. Test taken 1 1/2 weeks ago. Receptionist said doctor will review the test in 2 weeks and decide whether to tell me the results. I need to speak to the doctor as I need referring to a diabetic nurse to review my medication. Receptionist said they have been busy for 6 months and as I am not the only patient, I will have to wait. She was however, very rude, uncaring and officious. I have experienced similar type responses on many other occasion from this particular person, who has obviously had no training on customer relations. I am actively seeking to change my GP now.

You can always request a copy of your results. Diabetic patients are told to speak to the doctor or clinical pharmacist at the practice to have their medications reviewed after their blood tests and to discuss results. There is no short answer to interpret the results ie normal or abnormal. The admin staff would advise you to book with the doctor which I believe you did.
