All members of staff are friendly and helpful. I've always been well looked after. Especially in recent months due to being ill and hospitalised. I have been with this practice for many years and I've never had any issues.

  2. Review titled Kind Staff and a Practice Who Are There to Help!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I phoned (slightly after the emergency appointment recommended time) to ask for a urgent drs appointment. At first the receptionist said they didn’t have any left today and I would either need to phone up tomorrow morning or schedule an appointment for 4 weeks time. However, when I said that what the issue was and why it was urgent, the lovely receptionist was so empathetic and understood how important it was. They searched the system to see what they could do and managed to squeeze me in a telephone appointment with the dr (which came not even an hour later). Lots of other surgeries would have just said ‘no’, but they understood the issue and pain I was in today and went above and beyond to try and help. I cannot thank them enough.

Thank you taking the time to provide feedback. Our reception staff are highly trained & very experienced with assisting patients that need high priority clinical input. Although we are not an emergency service, GPs have stated their guidelines as to items that they feel are classified as high priority rather than a routine appointment and we always work within these. I am glad you received the support you needed today. Although we don't have a cut off time for urgent requests we do ask patients to contact us as early in the day as possible as we only have a limited number of staff and therefore a finite number of appointments we can safely offer in one day. It is always worth discussing with the reception team if you feel an issue can not wait to the next routine appointment and we will advise you of all the options available. This may be another clinical staff member, a nurse, a pharmacist, a physiotherapist or another support service such as out of hours appointments. We really do want to help our patients the best we can. I will pass on your feedback to the whole team. Best wishes Cher Rooney (practice manager)

Ardingly Court surgery has been nothing but supportive towards me. I have a few medical issues and my Doctor goes above and beyond to help and support me. Very caring. I never feel that I am a burden. If they say they will get in contact with me, they do. I am very grateful and happy towards all the staff at the surgery. Thank you

  4. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I want to express my gratitude, to the reception staff at the practice, and to the nurses and doctors. I had originally not wanted to bother the surgery for an appointment as I know these are difficult times in the NHS After a few weeks when my condition was concerning , I decided to pop in just to ask if it was possible to see a doctor, the receptionist was very supportive and I offered me a face-to-face consultation later that day The doctor prescribed me some medication and said if it hasn’t cleared up in the week that I must come back . I called up on the 7th day as I had the problem had not improved , I called up and was offered an appointment that day. The doctor that I saw put me on a fast track appointment to see a specialist at the hospital I want to say what wonderful patient support I was given . I would recommend anybody if you have any worries at all to talk to the reception they are very supportive and always ready to help and reassure . If needed they will do that best to give you an appointment either a face-to-face or a consultation on the phone.

  5. Review titled Outstanding active care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This practice has super caring attentive GPs and subsidiary staff and services. It feels remarkable, especially in the current climate of decline and degrading of our NHS, to experience such active and responsive support and care.

I was treated with great care and compassion. The GP listened and allowed me the time amd space to describe my issues. He then offered a referral and additional back up plan. I am extremely grateful

  7. Review titled Safety net

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Burnham - Posted on 09 December 2022

I had developed what I thought were varicose veins in my right leg and had been experiencing pain. The Doctor saw me for a face-to-face appointment and undertook a thorough examination as well as asking a range of pertinent questions. He undertook this with great professionalism, patience and empathy. His consideration of possible underlying causes led him to personally phone the Royal Sussex County Hospital in order to arrange an urgent doppler scan of my leg. I was phoned the next morning by the hospital and an appointment made for the following day. The scan was undertaken and to my surprise they discovered a DVT. In the following few hours the iv therapy department took blood samples, an ECG, BP and oxygen saturation tests. The excellent duty Doctor discussed my case at length and prescribed anticoagulants (giving me an initial tablet there and then, as the hospital pharmacy was closed by that time). The hospital phoned me in the morning to check I had picked up the prescription (while I was waiting at the pharmacy) and gave me some valuable advice and information, as well as putting a follow up assessment appointment into place. That evening I received a phone call from my Doctor who had not yet been updated by the hospital. He wanted to know if I was okay and what the outcome was, as well asking me to book another face-to-face appointment in two weeks for a review, and so that he could prescribe a 6-month, lower dose, course of anticoagulants as advised by the hospital. My Doctor’s attention to detail resulted in the diagnosis of a clot in my leg, which could have led to a pulmonary embolism and a life-threatening situation. His actions, his follow up care and his approach were gold standard: I am extremely grateful to him, to the surgery reception staff, and to all involved at the hospital.

  9. Review titled Great service from Receptionist

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mary - Posted on 21 October 2022

I was extra early for a flu vaccination. Without any fuss the receptionist arranged for me to see on the locus GP for my flu jab. This was a thoughtful response and I was truly grateful as feeling poorly from a chest infection but the receptionist was unaware of this but their kindness shone through! Thank you very much appreciated.

  10. Review titled Unconvinced by this practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Clive - Posted on 08 July 2022

Receptionists are nice when you visit the surgery but are not so helpful if you get through to them on the phone. Appointments are practically impossible to come by and when they are; they are for a month in advance and tend to be by telephone! For instance, I rang on 8th July and was told the soonest in-person or telephone appointment was 2nd August. In my experience, telephone appointments are not with the doctor named on your confirmation and if you miss their call, even if they've rung late, you won't hear back again. Furthermore, there seems to be a lack of follow up. On one occasion I was asked to send photos of an issue but never received a call back to discuss this further. With that being said, the interior of the practice looks to be well kept and hygienic. Additionally, the nurse is very friendly and was efficient when taking my bloods!

Dear Clive, thank you for your feedback & compliments regarding staff friendliness and interior of the surgery. I wanted to take the opportunity to respond to your other points. Currently there are longer waiting times than we would like to see a GP (however this is the case with most practices across the country due to the huge demand being placed on NHS services currently). As a guide 2-3 weeks would not be unusual for a routine matter. However, we do offer on the day urgent appointments on a daily basis if you call/visit at 8:30 for conditions that the GP has advised; infections of any kind, suspected cancer, young babies under 5, patients who are considered palliative (list not exhaustive). It is always a balancing act to ensure we prioritise those that need to been seen most urgently with the limited appointment resources available to us. Receptionists work really hard to listen to patients and signpost them to the right professional to see them, sometimes this is a pharmacist, a physiotherapist or a nurse rather than a GP. Telephone calls can be with someone other than your named GP especially & if you wish to have the earliest appointment possible with a GP. However, please be reassured that the professional will always have access to your medical history and medications & will consult with your GP if deemed necessary. Patients are normally telephoned at least twice when a call is booked. We do usually advise we cannot guarantee an exact call time but that this is usually an hour either side of the booked appointment. We always check the best number to call the patient and let them know the call may come from an unknown number. Pre booked appointments are now given the choice to either receive a phone call or see the GP face to face. Previously (likely the case when you called) we were following NHS Infection Control Guidance to start contacts with a telephone call to reduce overall contact time with patient in a bid to protect NHS staff increasing the likelihood they are able to continue to provide services to all their patients. I am sorry that you report having not heard back after sending in photographs. That is unusual and definitely sounds like processes have fallen down. If you would like me to investigate this matter further please contact the surgery and ask to make a telephone appointment with the Practice Manager (Cher Rooney). I would be happy to follow this up.
