    Friday 9 Feb.2024, I woke up with an dental abscess, called 111 who where extremely helpful. They gave me a reference to go to the dental surgery at the hospital. Rang the number given, Saturday was totally booked up. Was advised to try again on the Sunday but no guarantee as the surgery at week ends opens only form 8 to 11, or 11.30. As my abscess got better thanks to 111's excellent advice I did not call the hospital dental surgery as I felt that since I was not in pain, I should leave that Sunday surgery for people in excruciating pain. 111 then gave me two other options, one of which was Wensleydale dental practice, I was given another reference number. I went to the dental practice Monday morning 12 Feb. When I explained why I needed dental care and I offered to give the reference number 111 had given me, one of the receptionist was not interested, immediately told me that there were no NHS appoinments available at all . When I ask about private, money was definitely at the top of the agenda and I felt the receptionist was most unhelpful and uncaring. I made an appointment for that day at 3.45 after a very poor communication problem but subsequently cancelled it as the receptionist made me lose total confidence in the dental practice. I sent an email to cancel the appointment and complained about that particular receptionist. I never received any answer. Unacceptable, harsh uncaring behaviour from one of receptionists , especially hard to take as the 14 of Feb I had an appointment for an urgent cancer referral at Hamptons Hospital and I was extremely worried about that.

  2. Review titled Terrible service and customer care

    I had an emergency repair done (filling) and withing a couple of months it fell out. I was refunded for the filling but not for the rest of the costs even though they did not want to re-do the repair. I am left out of pocked by sub standard dental work.

    Have been a patient with my children for approx 3 years. In that time I've found the dentists to be friendly and caring. Reception staff are cold and surly and treat you as a problem. I've never felt welcomed by them. Not a smile for the cat!!! Also find that the majority of appointments are cancelled late notice at least once. Perhaps the service would be better if we weren't NHS patients?!

    I contacted Wensleydale surgery to ask for help as my tooth had broken. I had previously phoned my existing surgery to be told abruptly that as I hadn’t attended since Covid I was no longer a patient with them unless I wanted to go private. On considering my options I decided to contact Wensleydale instead as I knew someone who worked there & the reviews are excellent. I have to say I wasn’t disappointed, the dentist and dental nurse were both so caring and thoughtful, listened to my concerns and fully reassured me. Every step was explained and I felt no pain or discomfort. I am now signed up to their regular payment scheme & couldn’t be happier. Thank you all at Wensleydale
