    I was contacted a few days before my husband and my appointment to tell me these had been cancelled again and sorry my dentist had left the practice and we would be contacted to make appointments when a new dentist joined. l specifically asked if l would be able to go to them if we had an issues with our teeth and the person confirmed this would be ok. I pay an insurance which covers nhs costs so continued to make payments on that policy. Today l rang as l have been having pain to be advised l could make an appointment but that this would be as a private patient. I tried to tell the person what l had been told by the person who contacted me previously to be told in as many words that l was a liar as they would not have said that. l was upset l had been led to believe l would still be able to access nhs services and the receptionist was not willing to listen to what l was saying, l had the phone put down on me. I have been a patient for 50 years and now l am more likely to need dental work being older and am not able to access dentistry under the nhs and unable to pay private costs. What can ordinary people do? the nearest dentist taking on nhs patients is Chelmsford!

    After approximately 50 years at this dental practice I can no longer receive NHS treatment here as it seems they will only take on private patients. My dentist left the practice and has not been replaced to date. Not sure who is responsible for my predicament, looks like I will have to pay for my dental care for the rest of my life. What a shame.
