    Arranged an emergency appointment for son, who had contacted NHS helpline which didn’t help, with this practice the saw him in afternoon same day and provided antibiotics and advice.

    On 07/07/22 I attended the practice for a check up. I was 5 minutes late for the appointment. After being asked to take a seat by reception I was told that the dentist would not see me because I was late. While I agreed that I was late, I explained that I needed some urgent work (a filing as it turned out). Reception staff were inflexible and patronising in their response. I became quite emotional at this point as I get nervous about the dentists and had had to travel back to Bristol late the previous night to make my appointment. The reception staff were able to offer me an appointment at 4pm that afternoon. However, I had a funeral to attend at 3pm that afternoon, which added to my emotional state. The only person who showed any kindness was another patient who offered me her slot. Your staff explained that she had another dentist. It should also be noted that the patient who arrived immediately before me was more than 10 minutes late, but she was seen by her dentist. I therefore left the practice and went home. I later rang the practice and requested them to remove me from their list and not to make any further contact with me. As I have already had an email about rebooking my "missed" appointment, it would appear that reception staff's attention to detail in administration is as poor as their ability to deal respectfully and empathically with patients. I have now had the treatment I required with a private dentist. I am fortunate enough to be in a position to do so. However, the standard of customer care demonstrated by the staff at this practice was poor and inflexible. Just because a service is publicly funded does not mean that it is okay to treat people poorly. On previous visits to this practice I have had to wait up to half an hour to be seen. Evidently flexibility and understanding only works one way at Oldbury Court.
