Called NHS 111 and was told to call Crabbs Cross Dental Practice, as they would accept an NHS patient in an emergency, when the subject of the practice not accepting NHS patients was mentioned 111 advised me that if they were not to accept me to ask them to call 111 to let them know, so they aren't giving out false information. Upon doing this, the dentist office became very rude and abrupt, stating 111 can't force them to accept anyone and that I would be lucky to even speak to any dentist in the area today, given that it is the first day after a bank holiday weekend and their existing private patients are far more important than an NHS emergency. He then added that its not their responsibility to contact and inform 111 about their policies. The dentist office was very obnoxious and condescending which made me feel humiliated and belittled for not being able to afford their Private service.

Practice has been excellent for many years, I have visited since early child hood and so did my parents/grandparents. Due to human error/other doctors appointments I missed 2 appointments consecutively, I attended the 3rd as arranged with a huge apology it wouldn’t happy again. Next appointment booked 6 months in advance which was fantastic, I telephoned on the day due to all of my children having various illnesses, sore throats, chicken pox etc (after COVID but in the height of extreme strep throat cases) (also ensuring I was protecting them and their staff) to then be told I cannot re book an appointment due to ‘missing too many appointments’ unrealistic expectations from patients and dentists who obviously live very black and white lives with no other problems occurring and illnesses out my control. The dentist lacks people skills and has a very naive approach to real life. If you have children and a busy lifestyle do not attend this surgery as they lack empathy and understanding.
