    The Walk-In Centre service used to be excellent as an alternative to A&E or as an out-of-hour GP service, however my recent experience was terrible. Upon arrival I booked in with the receptionist (who was lovely), they asked questions and I was informed there would be a two-hour wait. As my medical problem needed attention, I decided to wait patiently. After 90 minutes, a nurse ushered me into a room. She was very rude, forthright and had a disapproving attitude (even though my health issue was not my fault). I was lectured at and informed the service was for acute care patients and I should book in with my own GP (which I had already tried). I'm reasonably intelligent and educated, but she spoke to me like a naughty child and was very abrupt when I asked if she could just check my observations. The rudeness continued for 10 mins and I left receiving no medical care or help. The nurse didn't introduce herself or wear a name badge (likely due to former complaints about her) which is unprofessional. I cannot recommend this service at all, as it was a complete waste of my time. The receptionist should have informed me if my health problem was unsuitable for their service and referred me elsewhere. According to the NHS website this service is for minor injuries and illnesses (does a bad chest infection not count?) not acute care.

    I went after a throat infection l was seen by the nurse in charge who was fantastic and a credit to the department and the nhs after checking confirmed the infection given medication and advice this lady should be put forward for a nomination the service she give was 100 percent and a credit to the nhs would you be so kind to pass on my thanks to her sorry don’t remember name but will never forget the service given

    I have visited this practice several times in the past and had excellent treatment. However, today I was surprised to find a notice advising a 2hr wait. Further to that, I was also surprised to be asked if I had an appointment as you advertise yourself as a walk-in and no appointment is required. I was further concerned when several patients came in who had appointments and appeared to have priority, hence the 2hr wait it seems which meant that those of us without appointments having to wait longer. I don't recall this being previous policy, did I just arrive at a bad time? I hope so. Thank you for listening.

We are sorry that on your visit to the service you experienced a long wait time to be seen. The walk in centre does also deal with GP referrals and sees patients who are not registered with a GP or who are temporarily located in the area, so some patients will have an appointment with the service.     I attended the urgent treatment centre on a Tuesday morning and received really great care. The nurse was able to make a same day emergency referral for me to the ENT at the hospital meaning I got the treatment I needed without having to wait too long. I felt the staff were very caring.

    I was in Newcastle over night due to catch a flight the next morning and had an infected insect bite. I was seen quickly and the staff were amazing. They were extremely helpful and friendly and provided me with antibiotics on site rather than me having to locate a pharmacy in an unfamiliar area when everywhere was on bank Holiday opening times. Truly excellent service and I cannot thank them enough. Literally saved my holiday with my family.

    I have reasonably painful bumps and dents after being attacked in Newcastle. This practice has identified the damage, diagnosed and resolved it in a calm, pleasant and confident way. Thanks to all of them.
