  1. Review titled Blood Test Appointments - What a joke

Rated 1 star out of 5

Strictly speaking this is not a review of this clinic because pre covid I had reasonable experience. But Currently March 2023 trying to get a blood test done here is a waste of time. Unless you know at least a month before you need it.

  2. Review titled Training needed

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Jane - Posted on 12 October 2022

Had blood taken for a blood test. Blood taken quickly and efficiently but afterwards not as much care taken to ensure that bleeding had stopped properly. Needle site was not checked before cotton wool was placed over site. I was asked to press on cotton wool while the phlebotomist fetched the tape. Injection still not checked before cotton wool was taped over. I left. Got to my car and realised my arm was bleeding profusely through the sleeve of my cardigan. I immediately raised my arm and pressed on where I thought the cotton wool pad was. I went back in side. Receptionist phoned the phlebotomist, who did not appear at all concerned and said this often happened. Never happened to me before in the 22 years I've been having blood tests and donating blood. I suspect this is a training issue. Usually I'm asked to press on the injection site for at least a minute and site is checked to ensure bleeding has stopped before being taped. This was not done. When I went back in with arm bleeding, I was asked if I was on blood thinners. Surely that was a question that should have been asked before blood was taken. More concern was shown over cleaning the blood on my hand, arm and sleeve of my cardigan rather than checking the needle site. I came home shocked and upset that this had happened. Only as I was leaving through the door was a quick apology offered. For background information, there were no other patients waiting to be seen when I arrived. I was early for my appointment but was shown straight in. The whole test took less than 3 minutes.
