Kaolin and Morphine mixture

  • Overview

Information specific to: Kaolin and Morphine mixture.

About Kaolin and Morphine mixture and how it works

This medicine helps relieve the symptoms of acute diarrhoea and associated symptoms such as pain and discomfort.

This medicine has two main ingredients: morphine and kaolin. Kaolin is an adsorbent that helps to absorb toxins from the gut. Morphine slows down bowel movements and makes the gut push its contents along more slowly. This enables the reabsorption of water and salts from the gut and helps form stools which are firm and are passed less frequently.

This medicine is available in the form of a liquid that is mixed with water and taken by mouth.

Adults must not take more than three doses of this medicine in one day. Stop taking this medicine if you become constipated.

You should ensure that you replace lost body fluids if you have diarrhoea.

Consult your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 24 hours, or if they get worse during treatment with this medicine.
