Information specific to: Dioralyte Relief.

About Dioralyte Relief and how it works

This medicine helps replace salts and water lost by the body when you have diarrhoea. This medicine contains an optimal concentration of starch to provide energy and salts. It works by stimulating water and salt absorption from the gut which helps prevent dehydration associated with diarrhoea.

This medicine is available as a powder which must be mixed with water before taking by mouth. The contents of each sachet must be mixed with the recommended amount of drinking water. You must not use more or less than the recommended amount of water to make up the solution as a weaker or stronger solution may not work as well and may also upset the salt and water balance in the body.

Do not use this medicine for a child under the age of one year except on medical advice.

Speak to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within 36 hours or if they get worse during treatment with this medicine.
