What is a PPC (prescription prepayment certificate)?

You can save money by buying a prescription prepayment certificate (PPC) if:

• you pay for your prescriptions
• you’re likely to need several prescriptions throughout the year

For example, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC if you need to pay for more than:

• four prescription items in three months
• 14 prescription items in 12 months

You can only buy a PPC for your own prescriptions.

How much does a PPC cost?

You can buy a PPC that lasts for three months or for 12 months. From 1 April 2013:

• A three-month PPC costs £29.10
• A 12-month PPC costs £104
