The NHS complaints procedure explained

If you're not happy with the care or treatment you've received or you've been refused treatment for a condition, you have the right to complain, have your complaint investigated, and be given a full and prompt reply.

The NHS Constitution explains your rights when it comes to making a complaint. You have the right to:

  • have your complaint dealt with efficiently, and be properly investigated
  • know the outcome of any investigation into your complaint
  • take your complaint to the independent Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman if you're not satisfied with the way the NHS has dealt with your complaint
  • make a claim for judicial review if you think you've been directly affected by an unlawful act or decision of an NHS body
  • receive compensation if you've been harmed 

Most issues can be resolved without you having to make a formal complaint. Try having an informal chat with your doctor or a member of staff first. A formal complaint takes time and minor issues are resolved quicker if you just speak to a person on site. For example, if you have problems booking a GP appointment speak to the practice manager about it. If you are worried about something during your hospital outpatient appointment talk to one of the nurses or the clinic manager.

NHS England calls this informal process 'local resolution' and urges everyone to see if things can be solved there and then before they escalate to a real problem.
However, if despite everything this doesn’t solve your problem, or even if it does but you would still like to make a formal complaint, you should follow the NHS complaints procedure as described below. 

The NHS complaints process

Stage one: Making a complaint

If you don't feel like you can solve issues informally then you  should make a formal complaint to your service provider such as your GP, dentist, hospital or pharmacist. If you cannot make a complaint yourself, then you can ask someone else to do it for you.

Every NHS organisation has a complaints procedure. To find out about it, ask a member of staff, look on the hospital or trust's website, or contact the complaints department for more information.

However, if you feel too uncomfortable to complain to the service provider directly then you can make a complaint to the commissioner of the services instead. NHS services are commissioned, planned and paid for by either NHS England or Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

Note: if you have already complained to your service provider then the commissioner will not be able to reinvestigate the same concerns. In this case you should proceed to stage two of the complaints process.

NHS England is responsible for purchasing primary care services such as GPs, dentists, pharmacists, optical services and some specialised services, and you should contact them if you wish to complain about any of these services.

When you contact NHS England via email ( ensure you state ‘For the attention of the complaints manager’ in the subject line.

You should provide as much information as possible to allow NHS England to investigate your complaint, such as:

  • your name and contact details
  • a clear description of your complaint and any relevant times and dates
  • details of any relevant healthcare providers or services
  • any relevant correspondence, if applicable

Contact your local CCG for secondary care including hospital treatments, emergency care and some community services, like district nursing.

When should I complain?

As soon as possible. Complaints should normally be made within 12 months of the date of the event that you're complaining about, or as soon as the matter first came to your attention.

The time limit can sometimes be extended (so long as it's still possible to investigate the complaint). An extension might be possible, for instance in situations where it would have been difficult for you to complain earlier, for example, when you were grieving or undergoing trauma.

If you made your complaint to NHS England you will receive the findings of the investigation together with an appropriate apology and the changes or learning that have taken place as a result of the investigation.

Stage two: I am not happy with the outcome of my complaint

If you are unhappy with the outcome of your complaint you can refer the matter to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, who is independent of the NHS and government.

If you have problems with your hearing or speech then you can use a textphone (minicom) on 0300 061 4298. (Calls to these numbers cost the same as a call to a UK landline.) You can also call using Text Relay.

 Also find advice on how to prepare your complaint on the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman website. For example, keep in mind to provide:

  • your name, address and telephone number
  • name and contact details of anyone helping you with the complaint
  • name and contact details of the healthcare provider you wish to complain about
  • the factual details of your complaint (listing the main events and when they happened)
  • why you think your previous complaint wasn’t resolved to your satisfaction, and how this has caused you injustice
  • details of the complaints you've already made to the healthcare provider and the outcome of their investigations
  • copies of any relevant documents (it's usually helpful to number these and provide a list)

Keep copies of everything you post, and make a note of when you send it.

I have a 15years old child that came to leave here with me ,she has sickle cell anemia.
Since August we have been trying to get an appointment with Pediatrician and an Hematologist to enable us know the the medication she should be taking and also to check her blood level up till date we have not been able to get to any of these people each time appointment is made a letter will be sent to cancel the appointment we have been referred 3times by our GP to make appointment they are all been cancelled.
As a child with sickle cell anemia she needs daily drugs and regular check but we have not been able to do so I am so worried and scared about her.
She has been without drugs and check up for 5months
Please we need help finding a Pediatrician and an Hematologist

The NHS is in a tough position....

1. Internal stakeholders who feel under loved - invested in...staff training et al.

2. External stakeholder who feel let down.

I got let down - in my view - by the NHS in 1983.

They were v closed door in 1993....part of the issue came to light in 2002...they did their best with what they could surgically... but the complaints handling is appalling.

I appreciate that low call / complaints volume, maybe the PHSO rule changes will thrust through some cultural changes around the whole of the UK; as it currently stands, the lack of understanding complaints culture only comes to the light at various trusts when people die or there is some utterly compelling event. That is wrong.

I'm feeling so stressed about going for contraception following a awful consultation with a nurse at a family planning clinic! I am a 42 year old widow, who has embarked on a new relationship after 6 years of being single! I am fed up of being made to feel disgusting especially following my last visit! I am overweight! I know! No I do not have multiple partners! Dreading Thursday! I'm sure I will have to revisit the awful questioning as though I am an irresponsible 16 year old!

I would simply like to understand how this site acts on feedback?

I have seen a number of negative feedback related to surgeries and to date and seen either very little action taken the sugeries or any remedial actions put in place. This is based on feedback from local feedback from patients and their families.

I look forward to your response with interest and would be happy to discuss possible measures to ensure services are delivered are both cost effective and more importantly of a high standard for patients who need it.

The appointments service is the worst part of the NHS I have ever had to deal with. Although I am perfectly able to identify myself using full name, dob, full address, nhs number etc. I cannot access details about an appointment without a password.
It took me a number of different phone calls to the appointments line and again to my GP for me to find out if an appointment had been cancelled only for me to phone the appointments line again and be told that the service wasn't working.
This is the most ridiculous part of the NHS I have ever used and due to me having referrals to both Neurology and Rheumatology, I'm worried that I may need to see a shrink by the end of it!!!!!!
If the NHS want to reduce cost in the, cut the waste and get rid of this system and put the patient first again which you clearly aren't doing!

Paid band 3 for dental treatment in April for crown, needed more treatment told by dentist to make appointment for 2 months time, on my return told I have to pay band 3 charges again. Is this correct.

The complaintsprocedure is not clear:

Stage 1:

1) 'if you feel too uncomfortable to complain to the service provider directly then you can make a complaint to the commissioner of the services instead'

2) 'if you have already complained to your service provider then the commissioner will not be able to reinvestigate the same concerns. In this case you should proceed to stage two of the complaints process'

Stage 2:
' If you are unhappy with the outcome of your complaint...'

I am therefore advised in the first circumstance to proceed directly to stage two, which then makes the presumption that stage one has been completed. So it appears. Please enlighten me.

I have just watched Channel 5 GP Behind Closed Doors, and am struck by the difference between the interaction between GP and patient compared with my own experience. Are they doing all the politeness, cheerfulness and listening to the patient instead of staring at the computer because the cameras are there, or is that an unusual practice. I don't get a 'good morning', 'how are you', 'take a seat' or much of a smile. I just get stared at, or 'what can I do for you' when the doctor has asked me to see her again in 2 weeks. She obviously hasn't looked at the computer to see what she told me last time. The only people who behave in such a pleasant manner as those on the TV are the receptionists and the nurse. I had an even worse experience when taking a friend with the early stages of dementia to his GP. I was not acknowledged at all. I might not have been there, except that I was doing all the explaining, but the doctor just stared at the computer and gave no reaction to what I was saying. I thought computers were meant to improve the service, but that hasn't happened. Better training in communication please!

I was admitted to the acute assessment unit by my gp on Wednesday 8th April in the early evening. As I had a urine infection and my heart rate and temperature were both high. My gp told me and my partner I had to go there as soon as possibleso we called his Mum to take us to the hospital. We got there before 6pm only waited half an hour bebefore I was taken through to a bed and thought I would have been put on IV antibiotics straight away after the usual checks but after 8pm I was attached to a heart monitor for twelve hours due to my heart rate being high and did not see a doctor until after midnight I think. The first doctor came back to my bed to put a cannula in the back of my hand ready for me to have the antibiotics and didn't start having the IV antibiotics until think it was before one o'clock on Thursday 9th April. Was told by a consultant that I could go home yesterday (10th April). I was moved on to ward 200 on Thursday 9th April at 2 o'clock never saw a doctor at all was given pain killers and IV antibiotics until yesterday still didn't see a doctor wanted to go home as I felt a lot bette. My partner came to collect me but we didn't know what was going on and he spoke to a staff nurse who told him I was not going home until I had finished the IV antibiotics and was going to start taking them orally and wouldn't have been discharged until today but it would've been Monday more like. He went back and told the nurse I was going to discharge myself so the nurse came to my room got nasty with me and another staff nurse came to my room and pulled off the sterile thing that was round the cannula and yanked the cannula out and it hurt. An auxiliary nurse came back with my tea and the staff nurse said nastily "she`s going home and won't be wanting her tea". Me and my partner left but I never got a discharge letter either or a copy to give to my gp neither.w

I would like to know what one can do if one has written to PALs and the PHSO and neither have listened or supported one's complaint. It doesn't mean there is no complaint there and we are all meant to be cared for.

I was informed today at Ordnance Unity Centre for Health Enfield that they do not have copiers of the complaints procedure that anything had to be put to them in writing first. I am an NHS patients at this surgery.

I want to know the procedure before I decide whether to make a complaint or not.

This article states the NHS has a complaints procedure does this cover all surgeries that have NHS patients?

I would like to comment about the availability of appointments at GUM clinics in North Devon. I needed to make an appointment and to put my mind at rest about a medical issue I would have liked this to be sooner rather than later. Due to the fact it needed to be after working hours for me ( from about 3.30) I couldn't get an appointment for over a week. Instead I decided to ring the clinic at Taunton as to me the benefits of an earlier appointment and putting my mind at ease far outweighed the long drive. They offered me an appointment 2 days later and at 5.30 so plenty of time for me to get there after work. The care I received while at the clinic was excellent too, very friendly staff. I would like to see the availability of appointments improved in North Devon to the same standard.

Hello My Son is at University in Liverpool.

He has had a recent check up and they wish to retake some blood tests.

The Practice manager has advised that if he now needs a blood test again he will have to re register at a GP in Liverpool.

is there a simpler alternative to going through this major administrative process. i.e. take his blood test form to a Local Liverpool Hospital get them to send it to our Home town GP?

Can someone please advise.

I have had tonsillitis a couple of times before in my life. I know the symptoms and I am aware of the treatment. Recently I caught the virus, along with my partner and numerous work colleagues. Therefore on Friday 19th of December around 11am I visited the walk in clinic and get some penicillin to combat it.

Unfortunately for me I got a doctor who's demeanour was rude and obtuse. After examining me he wrote down on a scrap of paper ‘Diflam spray’ and suggested I buy some from the chemist next door. I explained that I had a history of tonsillitis, that my partner and colleagues currently had it and that my tonsils were clearly incredibly inflamed, so much so that I hadn’t eaten and barely slept for two days prior to our appointment and that my temperature was higher than it should be. When I pleaded with him for some penicillin he stated “there’s no white dots so can’t be tonsillitis... Penicillin would only give you diarrhea”. I am not a medical doctor but I know both of these statements are incorrect. I left the surgery feeling annoyed and disheartened after wasting two and a half hours waiting to see a doctor.

The following day I went and saw a competent nurse practitioner. They grimaced when they looked inside my mouth and told me it was the worst case of tonsillitis that they had seen this year and that it had turned into a quinsy on one side of my throat, which they explained was an abscess. The nurse said that there was absolutely no doubt in their mind that I had tonsillitis and gave me a prescription for a course of penicillin.

If a doctor in your practice can get something so fundamental and basic so dramatically wrong then I dread to think how he would cope with more serious, even life threatening cases.

I would like to bring the condition geographic tongue to the attention of the NHS. It appears that myself and all other people I have spoke to online and in person that suffer from the condition have been told the same thing when discussing the condition with doctors; and that is to "just deal with it". I find this to be an absolutely disgraceful level of care, as although the condition in itself may not cause serious harm, it destroys individuals quality of life by making them absolutely unable to forge relationships with anyone in the real world through fear of ridicule. I personally have suffered from the condition from the age of 14, and every serious relationship I have had with a woman has been destroyed when revealing the condition to her. The fact that the condition is benign does not change the fact that is absolutely disgusting to look at, and stops sexual relationships dead in their tracks. If someone had a similar condition, but all over their face, would the NHS and other medical practitioners take the same view, for patients to just deal with it? Try living alone for your entire adult life, and see how much you enjoy just 'living with it'. I wonder how many peoples lives will have to be utterly crushed into nothingness before the medical world decides to have a serious look at this condition and actually come up with a cure.

Myself, I've totally given up hope for any happiness in my life, and will no doubt live out the rest of my life alone and miserable, thanks to the condition that has blighted my existence since my teens, and crushed my hopes of ever falling in love with a woman and starting a family of my own.

Patient care is non-existent, they don't care about them. No wonder complaints get withdrawn and Drs get away with it

I am very, very unhappy about the attitude of GP's in general towards their patients.

I am appalled that their attitude is tolerance rather than treatment.

I do not visit my practise on a weekly basis, so therefore I am not a "nuisance patient", I have been twice this year, once in March and again in December.

I only visit my doctor when I have a medical issue/query or feel unwell.

When I lived abroad, and had I visited my GP with any medical issues, I would have had a full examination, or x-ray etc. Here in England the tendency seems to be - but you're old what do you expect, - rather than - yes you're old, but you are still entitled to a quality of life.

Basically the attitude of doctors towards patients here in the UK stinks, and has to improve.

for 7 1/2 years I have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, during that time I have been on intermittent hormone treatment, for which I have blood tests to show PSA results. Up until, perhaps a year ago, I could phone the London Road surgery in Wickford Essex,. and be provided with the result of the test, and go along to get a copy. Subsequently, a new management has arrived; my previous blood test result copy now cost 50p, but at least I get it. today I phoned to get result, and was informed this cannot now be provided without my doctors permission. These PSA results are extremely important to my treatment and indeed to a continuance of my life and this new management are impeding the access to them.

Is this now the norm, or are this management imposing their own rules and regulations? Which ever is which, I strongly insist that things return to the way they were; this is extremely bad practice.

I would appreciate your promptest response.

I am absolutely disgusted with the way that the NHS has treated me these last few days... On the 17th of november 2014,I went to the doctors with a condition and she diagnosed it and gave me some cream which is fair enough.. For the next couple of night i was up screaming and crying in pain so i decided to go to my local minor accidents and emergency hospital to be told as soon as I got in the room that she has absolutely no idea about my condition and doesnt know what it looks like or even what to do, bearing in mind that she said this... She still went ahead and prodded and poked making me in even more unbelivable pain, SHE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT SHE WAS DOING AND ADMITTED IT!!! She shouldnt of been anywhere near me like that so after i left there, i rang 111 to then be ridiculed and told that i was in a moderate discomfort not severe pain all because i was outside which, i was outside because i'd just come out of hospital so because the person on the phone decided off of her own back that i wasn't in pain, she wouldn't send an ambulance out to me. Great, even more pain. You thought that would be it but no, I went to my local supermarket on the 20th of november 2014 and just as i was going to pay for my shopping, i collapsed and passed out and came round to everyone scurrying around me... Obviously the Tesco manager rang 999 for me to get me an ambulance as i am hypoglycemic but they refused to send me an ambulance so then tesco rang 111 and they said to me that i had to go to hospital within 24 hours because i had passed out and then because i couldn't get there as i am a single young mum and have no transportation, they told me to just go home!!!!! WHAT!!! You just told me i need to go to hospital! Luckily, my mate was there who is a first responder and knew what to do quickly but even he was appauled at the actions of your team! I am disgustingly appaulled by the way i have been treated. I have even had to have my son taken off me as i cant cope with the pain.

You can also contact your MP /local councillors - see

If his actions are criminal then you need to report these to the police. You could also try contacting a local paper such as Yorkshire evening post.

If you have exhausted all avenues and have evidence make copies (keep the orginals somewhere safe) and send by email & post to people with power/influence in current situation - make sure you use recorded delivery - this could include your MP, the practice manager. This might prompt someone to take action as when it does finally come to light then there will be a record of htem having received this information.

However, you need to be careful about making unsubstantiated accusations of criminality especially on public forum as this is potentially defamation.

I went to my doctor with fatigue/sickness/weakness early this year. My local GP was extremely helpful but in the end she referred me to a 'General Medicine' clinic as she couldn't solve why this was happening. I visited this clinic and I had a lengthy appointment and lots of questions were asked and she sent me home with a blood sugar monitoring machine?! I did as I was asked and returned a month or so later as per a letter I received through the post. The same doctor was running 45 mins late and I could tell she wasn't interested in seeing me as she didn't ask any questions neither was she interested in my results! I mentioned that my father and aunt on the same side had Multiple Sclerosis and that I was slightly concerned these may be early symptoms. I almost think she sniggered at me, she definitely smirked. I felt so belittled and wished I hadn't said anything. She told me that these were definitely not symptoms of MS (even though I know they are) and then offered me behavioral therapy as she thinks its all manifested in my head?? I almost burst into tears. I had come to see this Doctor, as she had asked, because I have some symptoms of ill health!! She's made me feel like I have cried wolf and I certainly don't feel like I can ever return to my Doctor for anything!

I am not one to get a headache and run to the doctors, neither do I have a weekly appointment or camp out at A&E in fact she brought up some chest pains & palpitations from when I was 9 years old through to about 12 years old that didn't have a conclusion as a back up for her argument! I am disgusted with this approach and now I can just only hope there is nothing more sinister the matter, as I have practically been called a liar and told no more will be done unless I want therapy. Disgusting that a hardworking British Citizen should be treated this way by her own NHS to which she contributes to.

Shame on you.

I have had nothing but problems and a lack of care from my gynaecological team. When I have raised concerns I have been belitteled and made out a liar.

I have been left traumatised, feeling unlistened too, uncared for and let down.

I wish I'd been able to go private but as someone who is long term disabled could afford to do so.

I find it surprising that the selection of "suitable Governors" for my local District General Hospital excludes all those who are members of LINks or NHS Healthwatch.

I would think membership of Healthwatch should be made compulsory!

Is there a deep animosity of some sort between my local DGH and Healthwatch ?

my sons suffers a heart VSD and he has appointment booked every four to six months for regular check up on his VSD. we had the appointment confirmed last week by call from the hospital and also received a letter from the cardiac four months ago regarding the appointment, so we i booked a day off from my work had what happens next is i got a call from the hospital saying that the appointment has been cancelled because the doctor has retired and there is no other doctor. Then i rang them asked for the doctor which my sons appointment was with and they said that the doctors retired but we got another doctor replaced but he hasn't turned up so the clinic is shut for today and they will send us another letter for a new appointment.i wish the NHS is more organised because at the end of the day its the Middle class family that are loosing money...

My wife, who is a full time carer for our 6 year old autistic son, has waited a tear for an appointment to get her kidney checked out as it has been painful. Her appointment is for today at the City hospital on the Lisburn Road at 3 o'clock... It is now 5.10pm and she has still not been seen... Surely if it takes a year to get an 'urgent' appointment then you should at the very least be seen on time... Ridiculous.

How can you make an appointment after a year and not honour it at the right time?

We have paid into the NHS all our lives and yet people from other countries, who haven't paid into it, can get arguably better service. Maddening.

I went to see my Doctor with something and whilst I was there I asked him if he could take a look at a mole that had turned jet black was growing and had a halo around it. The doctor looked at the mole and said. " that's nothing to worry about" So I ignored it for ages but it was getting bigger and bigger.

It was a work colleague that told me about an app that was out called Mole Checker from the programme embarrassing bodies.
I downloaded the app and took a photo of my mole and put it on their website, it came back highly suspect !!! So I immediately went to see another doctor in the practise who sent me to have it taken out. I've since been back and had extra tissue removed and some of my lymph nodes removed in my groin. It was a melanoma!! My concern is this if I had not have downloaded that app and carried on ignoring it then it would have spread!!

Doctors should not just pass it off without first making enquired to someone who does know about skin cancer!!!
I cannot trust that particular doctor anymore and I have lost faith in most of the doctors in my surgery as I have other reasons to think this way about them !!!.

I am a nurse and have worked for both NHS and private health sector for the past 14 years. I have the most baffling concern within our hospitals regarding parking. I am asking this question as a member of the public not a nurse. When a person is unwell do we all agree that there are at the lowest point of their life, some possibly will not be paid at work for being sick. However a high proportion of NHS hospitals across England and Wales charge exorbitant parking prices on site. In contrast patients might not have choice but come to the hospital driving in order to receive care in whatever form and shape. I am not sure if this is a revenue generating machine, somewhat an aid for our ailing NHS service at a local level. This idea is rather contradictory as most of the parking contracts on hospitals are run by private companies who no sympathy when demanding on penalty fees of inappropriately parked vehicles on hospital sites. Are the hospitals aiding abuse in some form if we are charge high parking fees to people who need treatment whether minor or major considering them vulnerable by circumstance of merely being unwell?

24wks pregnant with history of fibroids, mymectomy&have low PAPP-A+fibroids. Rang 111 coz I have been in pain all day& feels progressively worse in the evening . Got directed to my nearest hospital (11miles away ). Spoke to midwife& she said to go to maternity ward for check up(this is about 2230hrs). So I got there& 1st thing she say is why did you ring 111 coz you could ring directly here & it would have probably saved you the journey. (Am thinking mmmmmh, ok?). She then does the standard checks & listen to baby 'a heart beat+she reckons am fine despite the pain... She brings in the doctor who does the poking& proding the tummy+reckons it's just fibroids degenerating& there is nothing that can be done. Got given 2paracetamols&got sick about 15min later+told the midwife. She asks if I saw the meds in the sick!( well I didn't examine it! Was just bitter fooody stuff ).she decided since I didn't see the tablets then they must be absorbed & I should be ok & can go home now!am still in pain+this is past midnight. Doctor said if pain continues, ins can take up to 8paracetamol/day... So I asked for some paracetamol to take home(if it was day I d have just bought some!).she was super reluctant ( midwife)& had to insist to get given 2paracetamols& got told you can go home now ! Am back home.. 22mile round trip in the middle of the night&still in pain ! Wish I d never rang for help !

Was told by a doctor here I probably had a tumour when in fact I was pregnant. Was left for 6 months in agony with gallstones only to be told that the dr that should have referred me hadn't and had left the surgery (been sacked) and hadn't bothered to write the referral, by now I was an emergency . My toddler was able to put his hand in a sharps bin with no lid on, on the floor of a consulting room whilst I was busy with the practice nurse and I was made to feel it was my fault, he had to endure blood tests and is still petrified of needles and has developed OCD.
It is not only these glowering mistakes but also the fact that staff are happy to share your personal results and information in front of a full waiting room, and the staff sit and talk about patients that have maybe just phoned off in a derogative way in front of a full waiting room, as if no one is listening or cares.
I took my Autistic son to see a doctor which is a stressful time for him as we normally have to wait at least 45 mins past our appointment time only for the doctor to send us out of his consulting room whilst he took a personal call!
Today took the biscuit though, my husband asked for a medical letter to be signed for a course he had to do for work as a civil servant, and the Dr asked him for £25.00 my husband asked if he could pay by card, but the dr only took cash, the dr gave him an envelope with his name and personnel written on and asked that my husband bring the money in to the surgery later.. My husband left it as he wanted an invoice, the Dr in question turned up at my door this evening to collect his money! I am not sure if this is legal?

In my experience Southend 'University' Hospital typically tries to
evade taking responsibiity for their abysmal service, indeed they try to set the blame at the door of others, and fail to acknowlege the effect of their faiings upon those they are expected to serve.
In my experience when matters are referred to the Ombusdman they simpy try to deny wrongdoings, fail to investigate significant areas of complaint such as the failure to keep proper records and twist the facts to use as an excuse for exonerating shortcomings in the NHS. Absolutely not fit for purpose in my view.
To cap it all the Ombudsmans office has even written to me to say if I am not satisfied the answer is in the ballot box! A remark I find patronising and ignorant and not fit from any responsible government body.

For anyone struggling with the complaints system, I would strongly suggest you find a charity who can provide advocacy support. This is exactly what I am doing following being misdiagnosed and failed time and time again in the space of 4 months.
Search on the internet for advocacy services that provide support with NHS complaints. Good luck

Upon arrival, I was told that the appointment had been cancelled last week, and that I had been informed via voicemail. I don't use voicemail, never have. How the bloody hell could I have known it was cancelled?

Have been fighting Chesterfield Royal now since 28/02/13 with regards to my late fathers neglect that led to us losing him within hours of being discharged from hospital. Had one meeting , was fed a pack of lies. Sent my complaint in writing in jan of this year and still having to chase it up?Was told I would have a response by 10/03/14 , then they switched the goal post to the end of March, yesterday after pursuing them again , I am now being told they will respond by the 23/07/14. This is beyond a joke , but can see how the hospitals get away with so much , because people get so frustrated and give up. If anyone can share any advice I would love to hear , just keep hitting a brick wall. This is ripping my family apart

Complained about care I recieved recently at my local hospital by going through the correct procedures. Was not happy at all about some aspects if care I recieved and also the treatment for my wound. I then got a letter back after their 'investigation' which has basically called me a liar and information on there regarding my treatment which is false. And also a few times in there was mentioned that the staff who treated me were 'senior' and had worked there a number of years etc, basically so what I was saying I didn't stand a chance and was quite intimidating! Well I also am 'senior' in my job role of ten years and will not be called a liar especially client care is priority in my job too. Will be taking this as far as I can!

I am so shocked by the way my partner has been treat by the NHS. He has been misdiagnosed with Depression simply because he wanted to be referred to see a specialist in regards to Aspergers... "you're depressed so you're looking for an excuse" .. "you're too old to be referred"...yet the autism act says age should not be a criteria for diagnoses!!

My husband got jaundice about 7 weeks ago and was sent to the hospital for a ultra sound scan where they found a mass on his pancreas .He was told it was most likely cancer but it has yet to be confirmed .He has not seen a doctor or specialist .What are they waiting for ! I am so so disappointed with the NHS

Called 111 for my son . Both eyes very swollen. Stuggling to open them. He looked like he had done a round with mike tyson !
After going through the twenty questions. I was told its hay fever and to go to pharmacy. I knew there was more going on than hay fever and informed the receptionist, that I would not be happy if pharmacist referred back to gp. As I feel it is the gp he needs to see. I was put on hold. Put through to a nurse. Who I found quite rude. She sounded over the telephone quite put out I did not accept the first response. Be grudgingly given a out of hours appointment. That would not be within the hour as its "not an emergency" .
My son saw the gp who was fantastic, he's been prescribed antibiotic eye drops for a bacterial infection.
My point it often mum does know best !
Only wish health care professionals would listen to mum first !
4 1/2 yrs ago a nurse told me my baby had a bit of wind. He had interssusecption, if not for my mothers instinct, and refusal to accept the diagnosis he might not be the healthy boy I have today.
Over anxious worried mother apparently. I think not.

Called 111 at around 3am, 2 hour response time given, no response by 7am, called back. Still no response as at 8am. Home visit is required, as the call was for a bed ridden older person with dementia, with a possible UTI or kidney infection. What type of service is this? As usual, the NHS is discriminating against older people!

In August last year I suffered a crippling pain circling my entire mid thorax region, diagnosed as muscle spasm, it has now eased but not gone away. This year a cardiologist suggested it was a "wedge fracture" x ray proved it was, what do I do now ?

Also last year I told my GP that I had a carotid bruit, no action, the same cardiologist confirmed with a stethoscope that I did in fact have two, scan revealed severe bilateral carotid stenosis, referred to vascular surgeon.

What is the point in seeing a GP if they do nothing ?
Someone needs to shake up this pathetic GP system.

Due to my GP's negligence I have suffered damage to my liver. I complained via their process without a satisfactory result i.e they invited me to see another Doctor, no apology etc.
On the GP's website it stated if you weren't happy with the complaint process, escalate it to NHS England. So I did NHS England stated they weren't interested as I had complaned to the GP but I could complain to the Parlimentary Ombudsmen, so I did that and the Local CCG for good measure. The Local CCG replied that they weren't interested and after an alledged investigation the PHSO decided to drop the case as it was still open with the GP but would investigate if I got a letter from the GP addressing my outstanding concerns. I requested this from my GP and got an email from them stating that they had spoken to PHSO and the PHSO would ring me next week. No letter!

No wonder the NHS costs so much, so many departments doing nothing followed a Parlimentary cover up!

An absolute joke. I am now considering legal action for the negligence complaint.

What is the point of having an NHS complaints system? Take the NHS fraud hotline as an eg 0800 028 40 60. No one ever answers it!! If this is the standard of service you get from the NHS, ie they can't even answer a phone which is in their own best interests. What chance do you have when making a complaint against people like that?

I recently attended an MS appointment with my son where he waned to be prescribed Alemtuzumab (Campath/Lemtrada) for his Active Relapsing MS. The neurologist, possibly correctly, said he could not prescribe it because the NHS had not approved.
Nice approved Alemtuzumab (Campath/Lemtrada) in April (Last month) and according to the MS Society website -
"A NICE approval means that treatment is deemed cost effective and the NHS is legally obliged to prescribe it to anyone who could benefit"
Is the MS Society misinforming people or should my sons neurologist prescribe this drug.

I had an operation on wednesday 30th April 2014. after the op i had a funny turn and had reduced breathing and wasn't responding to anything and couldn't move but could still hear what was going on. I had a couple of nurses/doctors keep coming round and assessing me and the anaesthetist kept injecting a drug to combat this episode. after around 2-3 hours I was told that I was fine and to go home. Went back today to have my drain removed and explained the situation as the ward didn't have any idea that I was supposed to be there. After I told them about last wednesday they were shocked and told me to put a complaint in. I don't know if I should or not but It certainly has put me off that hospital now for life. I had the same operation 3 years ago and never had a single problem but this time round I feel as though all they wanted was for me to be ok enough to go home. I left hospital at around 6:30pm. How do I go about getting a copy of my medical file and making complaint without contacting the hospital.

I rang my surgery to make an appointment to have them inform me that I have been removed from their books. The reason they gave was that the Health Authority had removed around 80% of their patients with, apparently, no actual reason. I now have to re register with full proof of ID and address. Can they do this or am I being fed complete nonsense?

I am not one to complain about the NHS as I feel we are incredibly lucky to have what we have in this country but I can't help but feel I am being screwed on this occasion.

I had a operation last October had to be read mitred due to being in severe pain, after 2 months of various problems ie lung heart liver failure a lock out drains inserted a tricky fitted colostomy bag the hospital have said now they hold there hands up and made a mistake as I should of been read mitred with a follow up n not stuck on a ward and basically left to die, all I want to know is now the hospital have admitted negligence where do I go from here.. Is everything done thro solicitors whom want 25% of any claim made

I went to see my GP surgery in January as I could not feel my implant in my arm. The GP I saw at the time was very assured that my implant would have not moved but referred me to the GP that put it in. Cutting a very farcical story short and after being pushed to pillar and post, humiliated and totally disbelieved, 5 months down the line, the hospital I attended to have it removed refused to carry this out as it was too deeply embedded in my bicep and would write back to my GP to advise so that I could be re-referred to see them again and an orthopaedic surgeon! I saw my GP today who said nothing had been received and that they could leave it in! Honestly! I'm fed up with it all and just want it removed! It may not seem like a big deal but 5 months is enough just to be told nothing and that they could leave it in!

In May last year I went to see a GP because I had started noticing blood in and around my stools, understandably I was nervous and had googled it so I had said it could just be a fissure but I wanted to get it checked, but the GP I saw brushed me off, said "You can handle that yourself can't you" and didn't even take a look. A year later, still blood in my stools. I go to another GP (as I have moved by this time) and she does an examination and blood tests and immediately refers me to gastro at the local hospital. She could do no more, that was fair. After 3 weeks I call the hospital who inform me that they have had my referral 3 weeks and it hasn't been looked at, and there is a 5 month waiting list. Shocked, I called the GP surgery back to try and discuss any interim options with the GP. I was told he would call back. Several frustrating days went by. I called again and they said they would upgrade my call to urgent and he would hopefully call that day. Two weeks later, still no call back. I am now told "he gets hundreds of urgent calls each day he will get to it when he gets to it". I have a family history of inflammatory bowel disease, which they know about, and in fact my dad us hospitalised at this moment with a severe flare up and his only option is now surgery. I don't want to have to be as ill as him before I can get help. I feel I have been treated appallingly!!!

After moving to Ireland 8 years ago , I recently applied for my health records which I urgently need as I have a job in America and one of the conditions of the job is I have my health records, I sent the money and document to the health authority over a month ago , I have called the customer service to which the reply is , I cannot give a date for the return of your health records .
This service cost me 35 pounds, and I had to get a relative to send them a check in sterling because the system is so out of tune with modern day life they cannot accept payments from a credit card.

Phoned 111 at 4pm Easter Saturday (yesterday) to explain my symptoms that I have been suffering with for a week as my GP out of hours referred automatically to this service. Said I would get a call back but couldnt say when from the home care team. I wasnt expecting that call to be at 1am in the morning!

I thought something serious had happened to a family member!

Obviously I used 111 because I just wanted a telephone assessment as it was not an emergency but I was in pain (and still am) but the excuse given for returning the call at 1am was simply unacceptable and when asked if it was ok to proceed now and I said no its 1 in the morning, call me back tomorrow, to then be told that they are extremely busy and have to return all calls no matter what time that is and that my call would be closed because I dont want to proceed, I would have to call them back tomorrow to reopen the call!!! This has infuriated me. I will complain to my GP when they reopen on Tuesday.

In my experience Millieanne13 will have a lot longer to wait. I complained on behalf of my mother who encountered far from satisfactory treatment at Watford General Hospital in November 2013
I'm still waiting for a reply in the middle of April 2014 - 6 months later !
The local MP has become involved and he to is being ignored.
WGH must know you cannot progress a complaint through the ombudsman without a final letter - nor can you instigate legal action without one - so they just seem to be adopting a policy of hoping I'll get bored and go away.
Well, I won't !

It's really interesting that NHS England seems to be the only body that doesn't feel it necessary to respond at all to complaints. I cannot think why that should be. I raised a complaint 4th April and am still awaiting even an acknowledgment.
I think that comes under , "don't do what I do; do what I say"

Every time I go to the GP I feel like Im just a loonatic veing paranoid, I feel like the doctor does not take me serious and they make me feel like Im bothering them with my silly stories.
I genuinly feel intimadated, like I just like going there to moan, I have health issues I am concerned about and I think I deserve the right examination. Plenty of times the GP hasnt even bothered looking at what I complaining about and he just comes up with something like " its probably just this or that" and Im like will you stop guessing with my health and well being and just run some tests or something!

Many times I knew a lot more than the Dr. itself about many matters as I like investigating and learning about my body and my heath, and noticed the doctor either doesnt care what you say or directly steal your idea and try to get to a quick ending for you to leave, they are always right.

If I ever had anything done through the NHS it has been after time consuming insistent appointment requestments and feeling like I am liying or if I were acting to get something for free , I completely lost faith in the NHS, If I dared to do more than two questions Ive been told there is no time, since then I have kept to my self lots of concerns feeling nobody cares

This is just a niggle I am 62 and have some long term health issues which require medication which as I am now ancient enough I dont have to pay for. The form says quite clearly that if may age is printed on the prescription I dont have to fill anything in but I am repeatedly told that I must no matter what the prescription says or they will not "fill " the script as its up to the chemist to decide this to stop fraud. On one occasion at a large chain I was virtually accused of trying to "get away without paying "tAs I say its a niggle but who is right?

My wife has had some stomach problems for sometime. I finally got her to see her GP. She performed a rectal examination which she thought she felt a lump. She was referred to have a colonoscopy. When at the hospital the doctor requested he does another rectal examination. After this we asked if he also found a lump. He replied no thats why we are going to do a colonoscopy. So my question is why when her GP had already examined my wife and requested a colonoscopy why was it felt necessary to performed another rectal examination.
My I add the examination was performed professionally and with a nurse present. But in our view totally unnecessary.

My mother is in West Middlesex Hospital, she fell down from the top of the stairs at night,she is 80 years old, my father called for an ambulance and they took her to A&E. All good, the doctor who saw her got a CT scan done of her head and neck, but not her back and spine etc (why?) is it not logical that you would check for bone breakages from head to toe. Well they sent the scans to St Mary's who deal with these injuries. It got to Wednesday and this poor woman has been in pain lying on her back since Monday 6.00 am, it got t Wednesday at 3.00pm when I asked if they had got any response, then yes they suddenly did, they try to move her and she was in pain, so they now need an urgent x-ray of her spine - this was at 3.30 - the woman is in pain, we kept asking when, then finally as we waited at 8.30 pm they did the x-rays. We wanted to find out the results and were told that the doctor on duty cannot make a decision they need to wait for St. Mary's - will that be another 3 days that my poor mother will lie on her back without moving. I had to ring the hospital and tell them she had suffered from DVT and guess what they put compression socks on her on Wednesday. She lay there and no one thought of that. On another note, when got there on Wednesday afteroon, my mothers lips had dried up and shrivelled, shecould not talk because her mouth was dry and parched. I wet her lips and gave her water for the complete 5 hours that I was there. So many people walking around buzzing around working but no one can give you a proper answer on anything. It is frightening to see someone you love just left to cry with pain - there is no compassion.

My baby was born and there was lots of erros made by the hospital... she ended up in special care for almost 3 weeks.
A senior nurse said she would do an investigation regarding the errors... I had to keep chasing for the results and eventually was called in for a meeting with this nurse and another and told that they didnt follow their own procedures and lots of other details. I have been requesting a copy of this report and after 3 months have been told that the nurse says 'sorry' she hasnt done the investigation... !!
So now Im thinking either they are witholding the report from me or the meeting was a farce and i was lied to ... either way its discusting behavour.
I have put in a complaint, but still have not heard anything.

I've just had to make a phone call regarding an appointment I cant attend to the orthodontist department in the University Hospital of North Staffordshire. The appointment I called about was supposed to be on 29th January but has been changed about 3 times and the day was changed to 19th February, and I wasn't even informed. Due to a trip I am on next week to London that was a christmas present, I cant make the appointment and have rang 6 days in advance to tell them, even though the appointment they gave me wasn't confirmed with me that I could make it, they just assumed I could after messing me about. The lady I spoke to was incredibly rude and started to tell me 'how important appointments are' and how they 'haven't seen me since April', although its them who keep changing it, and unfortunately I can't make the one they have just given me without asking. The lady was also very abrupt with me and just generally rude. I am not impressed at all, its okay for you to be lecturing about how important appointments are but then don't be hypocritical and change appointments but making it okay when you do it, and putting emphasis on if we can't make appointments. Never had trouble with rudeness before. When giving her my details I also said what the appointment was for, to which she abruptly responded with 'I know what its for, and its just as important as all the others' even though I hadn't said it wasn't important I simply informed her as I thought it could be useful. Really not impressed at all, like I say never experienced rudeness for an NHS employee however I will not tolerate being spoken to like that, and find it unacceptable.

I would always say get a second opinion if you walk away unsatisfied from an NHS appointment. If you have been diagnosed with anything you are in your rights to get a second opinion, so I would say do it. I was diagnosed with a neurological condition and I have requested a second opinion as I think there is something that doesn't add up to that particular diagnosis.

MDX do go and get yourself a second opinion or even go to A&E. Don't take any chances with your health some of these GP's don't recognise important symptoms.

So far the NHS complaints process has been a sham. I was referred by a GP to the hospital as routine 6 weeks when I had double vision from a swelling in the brain. it should have been an urgent two week referral.
I was very unwell to know he got the care pathway wrong as I didn't have any family and friends nearby to tell me I wasn't right and go to A&E. The GP admits he didn't know how to refer me as the NICE guidelines were not clear. At that point he should have phoned the hospital or speak to a colleague to clarify. Now I am living with scaring on my brain because of his incompetence. The NHS have said they are not going to do anything about the grave mistake he made.

Thanks a lot NHS and you call yourselves the national health service. It's wrong, very wrong i am dismissed and I am escalating this as far as i can..

I am here new - international student plus I have disability.Yesterday In the morning I had started feel the pain while I was urine.In the afternoon I urined with blood and in the evening I urined with lot of blood and strong pain when I finished urining I saw drops of when i woke up urine was clear nearly no pain ... I went to University GP I said him everything include tht I Had urinal infection in the past.He just gave me 3 questions and finaly gave me ciprofloxacin. No exmination nothing!How he can be so sure that it isnt something more dangerous? At least he should took sample of my urine!

The NHS is a dangerous place in some parts, and as for PALS, and the Parliamentary Health Ombudsman, they have been found unfit for purpose, so it is no good relying upon them to act on your part, though you should complain to them, in order to say you have followed the proper procedure if you decide to take culprits to court.

I was abused in my home by two NHS health care staff, took me 18 months to come out of the trauma, as soon as I had come to other side I complained to the above. I ended up taking civil action against the above for their seeking to hide what was done to me. I am at present seeking to take civil actions against the two healthcare workers, whom PALS will not as yet release the names of, so have taken civil action against PALS to force them.

Civil action is simple, easier than falling off a log, but the authorities will not let you know this because they do not wish to see justice done and themselves shamed and having to pay up for what is usually gross negligence. We are supposed to be cash cows, nothing more, so when you take on the smilling establishment the establishment soon lets you know you are just a source of revenue. This is how it is, and you have to stand up.

This is what I have gone through for the last 30 years. II suffered nearly ten years of having up to 20 to30 seizures a day I had nealy 300 in one month only to be told in 1990 I had been misdiagnosed and the drugs had caused the fits I now have fibromyalgia lupus srojens disease and chroni migraine I believe because of what happened coz it was traumatic but the biggest effect on my life isi don't have children because of it and my parents have been deprived of being grand parents I'm not going to get better but I will never give in every morning when I can't get up I say to myself come on girl you survived nearly ten horrific years you can survive this I fought a case for nine years the expert wouldn't say they were negligent what angers me is the initial EEG sed not diagnostic of epilepsy and so did all the others yet they kept giving more and mire drugs I was taking up to nine anti convulsants a day my close friends can't believe I never disclosed this the reason is because my parents are now 80 and have suffered enough but one day I will get justice the hurt of not having children because of what happened cuts me like a knife I would of loved a family

First time mum so you can imagine the anxiety and worry that people go through.
First of all I have been with the same doctors surgery for 20* years. I moved 5 miles away to then be told I cannot go to this surgery anymore even though my village is within the catchment area... Also having just told them I was 5 weeks pregnant you'd think for the sake of one patient keeping me at the same surgery would have benefited everyone.
So had to join the surgery in my village, where even after a week, When having to make an appointment I wasn't even registered with this surgery... To be told your not registered here.. yes I am...
At 10 weeks pregnant more or less not even seen my midwife. Then have another midwife come to my house to fill in these notes. Because I have chose a different hospital closer to home than the "normal" hospital I am expected to travel to and from the hospital to have bloods done etc all because it's too much inconvenience to have it done at my doctors. This midwife left valuable information of someone else's in my pack which I thought was beyond a joke as one that was information that needs sending off and two this meant as the Nice person I am I had to trek down to the doctors to hand it in...
Now three weeks later I have tried to get hold of my midwife the numbers of my midwife is on my notes which I havent received and god knows where it actually is? Doctors or hospital or in the post someone I dont know....
My apparent midwife has rung me to ask why I needed to change my appointment which I havent even needed to change, yet I am refused my midwifes number?? so all in all I feel like a bit of a lost cause. I know everyone is busy and I appreciate that however as a first time mum I didn't expect to just be out of the loop... I have no idea what's going on appointments are coming through the door and I don't know what for and it's all just a bit worrying to be honest.

Had a reoccurrence of a slipped disc yesterday (Saturday).
Totally laid up, unable to move & living on my own.
Simply wanted a prescription for some pain killers which I’ve had before to treat the same problem.
As it was out of hours, so I had to call 111.
People were quite helpful…but wanted to call in the paramedics. Said I didn’t want paramedics, just a prescription for some pain killers.
Eventually, they accepted what I was asking & said a local doctor would call back.
Local doctor finally phoned back.
Went through entire history AGAIN.
He said a prescription would be available at a nearby hospital (Warwick) if someone could collect it.
Family member went to the hospital whereby they refused to issue any prescription or even discuss why (as they put it …”patient confidentiality”!!)
Family member handed phone to the receptionist at Warwick. She said I was supposed to have attended an appointment there (for the prescription?!!) Yet they KNEW I was laid on my back unable to move.
She still insisted she wouldn’t hand over the prescription because ‘the computer wouldn’t authorise it’ (sounds like Little Britain doesn’t it??)
I got so sick of trying to talk common sense with the woman, I asked her to hand the phone back & forget about it all.
So, here I am. Still laid up on my back. Still no medication..
…..and how much has this wasted peoples’ time & NHS money??
Absolutely bloody useless!

I just want to be able to get an appointment at my doctor's for my 3 year old son. Is that too much to ask?
He has had a cough for about a week and a half which shows no sign of going. I have to call on the day at 9am for an appointment on that day which is fine. So I call up at 9am today (Friday) and there are no appointments. The next available appointment is Tuesday evening. Guess what? I have to call up on Tuesday morning to get an appointment. They do not pre book at all.

This is not the first time I have had issues with them. Once I tried to get an appointment for my son and between myself and my mum, we tried over 60 times but the phone was constantle engaged. By the time I got through, there were no appointments.

I have had countless issues with the doctor's surgery. Most of the time with the receptionists being unhelpful as well new systems not working properly.

This is why people go to the emergency departments in hospitals. They just cannot get a doctor's appointment. The receptionists are rude and don't care about the patients. Extremely unhelpful most of the time and they ave no empathy.

I was given a number in Dover 2 years ago and was put on a list to be allocated an NHS dental surgeon.
I've heard absolutely nothing.

At least can you update the information you give concerning nhs dentists available in and around Ramsgate Kent and ensure it's correct
I've 'phoned every number that's listed and not one are taking on nhs patients - when you specifically state that they are !?

I'm white; female; British; an oap ( 67 ) have never been without a dentist in my life. Now that my previous dentist went private - which I can't afford - I can't get any help from the NHS ?.
Maybe you could explain how I and millions of others are supposed to receive the dental treatment they require or are we reduced to having no teeth ?.

I have recently been enlightened as to the state of the NHS (No Hope Solutions) through a turmulous last 6 months of watching my father in law fight his own health problems exacerbated by NHS incompetence. Some examples (but not all because I would have to write an essay) include;
> 2 failed discharges including;
a. one resulting in being readmitted into A&E within 4 hours of discharge
b. the other being discharged with a broken neck and advised some 3-4 weeks post
> Being given medication which as family we had explicitly stated he was not to be given without family consultation and approval
> Loss of medication notes some 3 plus times during which staff could not confirm he had been given life saving medication

And the list goes on.....

It is a sad state in this world we live that British citizens who have worked hard all their life, paid their taxes and contributed to what Britain is today that they are treated like this, particularly when you're in the last few years of life. There is daily evidence in the NHS of patients being treated without the respect and dignity that they deserve, I cry when I think about what I have seen.

If you didn't have any family you would die in the NHS.

If we were debating the treatment of animals there would be a complete uproar, it would be in the news everywhere, politicians would take it seriously and something would be done. And yet humans are ignored.

Why doesn't Britain and the politicians in their glass offices stand up and fight for an NHS that this country needs? Perhaps it's too hard, perhaps they just like hiding their heads in the sand.

was 7-8 week pregnant, on monday i started spotting, so rang my gp to see a doctor on tuesday just to put my mind at rest, he said it more due to the fact it was a water infection, which i had no problem with, tuesday night it started getting a bit more bloody, i then rang my doctors which the receptionist spoke to the gp i saw and he advised if i was concerned to ring the local midwife at the hospital... soo i did, i got passed pillow to post and ended up speaking to triage in the maternity suite, i explained what was happening and she said i cant self refer without my gp doing it, i then said what do you think (as a midwifes point of view) she replied back with 'ive not got a crystal ball' i felt gutted that a member of the nhs could speak to someone whos having a first time pregnancy like this, i then woke up thursday with more blood and clots, i panicked and rang the gp he got me in straight away, by then i was bleeding lots... he booked me a emergency scan for friday morning. it got worse thought out the day i went to a&e they was brilliant they sent me to M6 they didnt even know why i was there!! and friday i went for scan and still no answers just had bloods done! i feel ive been abandoned by the nhs and that they should treat patients with better care! because i wasnt filling a sanitary towel in 20 minutes they didnt want to know and i now know i have had a miscarrage and the nhs couldnt do much but answers and information would of been usuful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I saw my GP to try to get clarification on the exact nature of my condition, since what the gynaecologist had said contradicted both the scan report and what he had previously said. He avoided answering the question by telling me the result of the biopsy showed that I did not have cancer and I should be celebrating. Instead, I feel completely let down and abandoned by the NHS because I have been told, in effect, to go away and suffer my fibroids and endometrial hyperplasia with no treatment.

Endometrium thickening greater than 5mm greatly raises the risk of cancer. My mother was treated for breast cancer, but died of undetected ovarian cancer which spread to her stomach. My elder sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, detected by a screening programme (she lives in Wales, not Yorkshire) and had a hysterectomy. Just because the biopsy has proved negative today does not mean that another taken next week, or the week after, might not prove positive. And what do I have to do (even if I was prepared to suffer again what I have just undergone) to get another biopsy? I am not prepared to suffer pain and discomfort, with a sword of Damocles hanging over me for the rest of my life and will be paying for a hysterectomy at a private hospital.

However, I want to publicise the shameful performance of the NHS in diagnosing an affliction, then back-tracking on its seriousness and turning me away, refusing to treat it. My GP’s words, “That’s life” are, at worst cynical, at best unacceptable, and in either case reprehensible.

I am 59 and post-menopausal. In September I went to my GP in Holmfirth with spotting and abdominal pain and he referred me for an ultrasound scan which showed multiple fibroids, the largest measuring 20mm, and thickening of the endometrium to 8mm. He fast-tracked me to see a gynaecologist at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for a hysteroscopy. The gynaecologist’s attitude was brusque and unsympathetic and her examination was brutal. She detected a polyp and took no biopsy, instead referring me for day-surgery to remove the polyp. She told me that the fibroids were small. She said, “We don’t treat fibroids” and dismissed out of hand the possibility of cancer before any tissue samples had even been taken, let alone analysed. She also said that the endometrium was not particularly thick. However, in the subsequent letter to my GGP she reiterated the scan result of 8mm.

When I next saw my GP, I asked him for more information about the position and possible effects of the fibroids. He told me to ask the gynaecologist when I went for day surgery. He also told me that the normal treatment for fibroids was to have a hysterectomy and described what the operation entailed.

The day-surgery took place ten days later at the Royal Calderdale Hospital in Halifax. When I saw the gynaecologist before the procedure, she would not answer any of my questions and simply shouted at me again, “We don’t treat fibroids,” and “You don’t have cancer.” After both hospital visits, I developed an infection, for which my GP simply prescribed thrush cream.

8 years ago I was in a car accident. the gp delayed treatment. i have suffered agonising pain and tried all the pain killers they prescribe. i have been refused investigations and fobbed off. changed gp who agreed the investigations only to discover in the past 2 months various spinal problems and liver and kidney damage from the prescribed pain killers that never worked.
why do doctors not listen to patients? why do doctors fob them off? why in the face of the solid evidence do they become hostile when a sick note is requested? why when i put forward a complaint is the nhs going to side with the gp just because i had no witness with me? gp's are not as honest as they are supposed to be and what is wrote or not wrote in notes is not always true! as a nurse i have worked 5 years with little sleep insurmountable pain (even with pain killers) and exhaustion now removed from rota as i can barely mobilise yet the gp will not provide a sick note without hurling hostile verbal assault and interrogation! since when did gp's decide that i was a liar! she has the xray and scan results she even told me what is wrong - but apparently my agony is false; i am lying about it! 3 things i wanted; investigations, diagnosis and referral to a specialist who would sort out the cause of my pain... however i am refused this final wish! good night

I just have a question about dental charges. Does all of the treatment covered by one payment of £49.00 have a time limit? My daughter who works full time has difficultie in getting time off for the dentist or doctors so has to book a holiday to fit treatment in. She had a check up and was told she needed some fillings. An appointment was made on her days holiday which she attended. She was told that this treatment was covered with her payment of £49.00. After leaving she received a call to say she needed to pay a further £49.00 as she had not had her treatment within 2 month is this correct?

My brother was admitted on the 31th May 2013 they found out what he died of til the post mortem and it was malignant meningitis which I had not heard of sadly he died on the 7th July 2013 he went blind deaf legs and arms would not stop moving and he lost how to eat and did not know how to do things and he did not know who we were and lost over 20 pounds in weight they went from meningitis to methanol poisoning to cjd and nothing helped him it was the most terrible thing to watch someone disappear from your life he was only 50 years old we was not happy with how things were such as moving drinks out of the way and the buzzer moved out of the way every time we went to see our brother and we will be putting in a complaint as soon as we can , they also said they suspected malignant meningitis several times but they did not the only time we had heard of malignant meningitis was 40 minutes before our brother died

my teeth are really bad got missing teeth ive got a filling thats just come out i tried buying a temp filling but it made it hurt more. ive had it for about 2 week now i dont know what dentist to go too what covers it? i dont want to have to pay 60 pound for a filling when i can get it for free... ?

I want to complain about a paediatric gastro consultant. My son has been admitted for failure to thrive and he has been treated for the past 5 months and is only 8 months old. consultant has been rude, not communicated assessment results, stated I should behave as a family member not a clinician (I'm a health professional working in the NHS) and has now placed a child protection referral against me!!!! It Anyone any advice at all my son has an NG tube and still not gaining weight, it appears that the more the consultant has been questioned about my son's care, the more the consultant became obstructive and rude Now this!!! As if life isn't stressful enough having a sick child who is only 11lb at 8 months old and we don't know why??!!! If I complain would it go against me? Would it look vexatious?? please help!!

It took ages to get treatment because staff could not be bothered.
I still felt ill and went back only to be told it is working
I now have hbo1c of 101. I feel ill now for 18 months all I was told by staff at my clinic is that they will have a word.why am I not being seen
Why cant someone just get me some proper treatment
I wasnt even given a proper examination
Just wanted me out of the way cos they were running late
All I want is some proper treatment

Sefton intergrated care out of hours service is a joke!!first called them at 6pm to make an appointment had to wait 2 hours at southport and still wasn't seen.left and went home as was in pain so took painkillers and phoned back again about 8pm,the call handler put me through to a very rude and abrupt member of staff who spoke to me like I was 12 and told me I was wasting there time as they are emergency service only (thought that was a&e)had to make another app and waited another 3 hours for a doctor to call in which by this time I had give up was cold tired in pain and at home again.2 days later I was took to a&e and given ct scan and lumbar puncture had headaches and throat infections.all I needed was anti biotics which gp on call Sefton could of given me had there service been better.

The service at Maidstone Hospital is like the Curate's egg. Good in parts and abysmal in others. Why does it take 14 days for a result of a scan to reach a GOP especially in these days of electronic communication? Someone is responsible presumably for the efficiency of the system which, at times is fractionated and communication between departments is sadly lacking. There is a "tick box" attitude infiltrating the system. You state that the patient comes first. In many cases this is forgotten!

I phoned my GP this morning asking if i could get a house visit as i have cystitis but this has went on for 4 days so i am thinking it could have turned to a urine infection and no matter how hard i try i just can't push myself to leave the house due to the uncomfortable feeling it is giving me, plus the need to pee every 5 minutes but they turned me down saying they don't do house visits for urine infections which i find very ignorant and unprofessional as their job is to make you feel comfortable and help you the best they can but yet they can't even come out to see someone who is sick unless it is a severe case. I definitely think this should be looked into.

I am 60 today! So, I expected my prescription to be dispensed free. But the pharmacist declined this, as the date on my prescription was yesterday's (when I was 59 years, 364 days old!). I now have to return to the surgery and get a new prescription dated today. Is this right? Seems bonkers to me!

God bless you NHS. Thanks to the endless waiting I've put up with over the years not only am I even more messed up physically but my mind feels dead too. Have had two opperations to fix my curving of the spine both of which failed. I'm also a wheelchair user so instead of opting for more surgery I went to wheelchair services who told me they could make a custom backrest that would support my posture. After 18 months of waiting the new chair was ready and it was useless. I tried to get use to it over the next 6 months but just couldn't. Very unconfrotable and worse, it was too big & bulky for my house. All this time my back was getting worse so it seemed I would have to put myself through surgery again. So I contact the hospital and made an appointment to see the surgeron. Went to see him. He said we need do some xrays. So I wait, and wait and wait, and wait. Dont hear nothing, phone up, make another appointment, go to see him, have the same conversation blah blah blah, to cut a long story short it ended up taking over a year just to get the xrays. After the xrays he said he would be in touch soon. 6 weeks passed and nothing. In the end I was forced to seek help at another hospital. Nearly 5 years of pointless waiting has taken a massive toll on my health, mentaly & physically.. Bed bound most the time feeling like a waste of space.
Thank you NHS !

I can't find what I am looking for but hope this forum will help. My daughter has braces and has an issue with brushing one part of her teeth due to the way the metal is and how the brush gets caught. The issue I have is my dentist is stating that he will strike her off if she does not brush properly we have tried to explain the issue but he did not want to listen and just said have till January to sort it or she'll be struck off. Can he even do this do I have a case to complain. Thank you in advance for any help or info that can be given :)

well where do i start im gonna cut a long story short as i may not get enough space for what i need to put so here goes ok im a carer for my wife she has lots of medical problems and was taken into our local a & e in april 2013 for a medical reason i was asked to wait in the waiting room as the staff wanted to examine my wife and that they would come get me when it was done so i thought that i would go home collect my bike as i didnt want to walk home as i was a little tired got my bike went back to a & e and on my way through to see my wife the nurse came steaming to me and asked if i could go wait in this room in my hand was my other bike lock so i said ok let me just go put this other lock on my bike and then i will come into the room after locking my bike i turned around and there was 4 police standing there they asked my name and i told them who i was and the next thing i knew i was under arrest what for i said well we cant tell you still you get to the station so i said ok got to police station finally got told what id been arrested for and was shocked got put in a cell for 16 hrs no allegation no statement from my wife about what was suppose to have happened got released the next day no further action went home all ok called PALS that after noon explained what went on and got told to call back the next day so i called back next day and was got told by PALS they wouldnt take the matter any further so i called my local paper and they said someone would come round and interview me but 30 mins before they were due to come i got a call saying they wouldnt take the story so i called all the nation papers which said no and nation news which said no and now each time my wife goes to our local a & e i stay at home due to fear of being arrested for something so what am i to do no one wants to help

On Thursday 29 August my wife was visited by her GP. Following their examination of my wife the doctor decided to arrange to have her admitted to hospital. They told my wife that a bed had been reserved for her at the Acute Assessment Unit, (AAU) at Arrowe Park Hospital.

I took my wife to Arrowe Park at 7pm that same day and went direct to the AAU and spoke to the receptionist on the ward. She said that no beds were available. I pointed out that my wife's GP had earlier booked a bed. She replied that GPs are always doing this and it is impossible to book a bed. I pointed out that my wife has a very serious liver condition and needed treatment. The receptionist consulted the ward sister who reiterated that they do not reserve beds and that we would have to wait in A&E. They said that GPs are always doing this. I said have you spoken to them about this lack of communication. They said it was too late to do that now.

We then had to go and wait in A & E. Five hours later my wife was finally allocated a bed in AAU.

Going into hospital for anyone is very stressful and emotional time and it is a great help and reassurance when the system works. In this case it clearly didn’t and there appears to be a great gulf in communication between the GP surgery and the staff at Arrowe Park. The damage has been done as far as my wife is concerned but I would like an assurance from yourselves that you will seriously and diligently look into this matter and take robust measures to ensure that no other patient has to go through what my wife had to endure.

NHS direct is useless. my mum rang a 2pm this afternoon and at 5.30pm they hadn't got back to her and her symptoms have got worse so she rang them back up again and they have not said that they will not get back to her for another 6 hours, not from the time she originally rang but from the second time. They just do not care about the people they are making wait.
NHS Direct needs sorting out because it is so useless and understaffed.

What a terrible day. Husband is being treated for infection of a broken tooth by his NHS Dentist. Husband is is great pain, despite painkillers and antibiotic. This morning his pain was intense, he was very quiet and the side of his face was very swollen.
I phoned 111. For two hours. All I got was a recorded message and muzak. My phone battery died.
One is advised to ask the pharmacist; I did. He ran through the medications my husband is already on, ascertained the right painkiller and dose and then the pharmacist recommended we went to St Mary's Walk in Centre Portsmouth.
We did. They refused to treat him, saying the pharmacist was wrong and they don't do dental problems, nor do they give second line antibiotics and we were to go away.
I was so upset and angry and my husband in so much pain and no care; our car got grazed as we left the car park. Petrol traffic jams, £2 parking fee, all to be turned away. Ghastly. I will never try 111 again. Ever. Nor will I attend this walk in centre; they have no compassion at all. I am thoroughly depressed and disgusted. My husband is still in pain. No one cares.

Out of hours service is horrible, My heart is pounding, my body is shaking, I have had chest pains and because the out of hours GP has seen anxiety on my medical record he tells me it's anxiety.
I have had many panic attacks and this is not a panic attack I am scared but looked at like its all in my head.

I am 20 years old, have a stable career (before anyone starts to judge) I have just found out that I am pregnant. My complaint is why is there no help for people when they have just found out they're having a baby?! I am about 7 weeks, I am so worried and scared (also happy) but I rang my doctors to see if I can have a chat with my doctor about it, all the receptionist could say is "sorry they don't like to see you're until your about 10 weeks"! All I wanted was a chat to end my worries! I personally think you should have something in place for people who are first timsters in pregnancy.

Northampton General Hospital A&E Department:
I was admitted twice to A&E last week due to breathing problems and chest pains, I am a patient who also has mental health issues. When I was left alone and on gas and air I began to get confused as a nurse had switched the light off in my cublcle, and began shouting for my husbband, loudly in said confusion. Because of this I also soiled myself....Presently an angry nurse appeared telling me to "shut up! or I will call security!" but she dident have to call them as these two huge security guys were already in my cubicle and dragging me roughly of my gurney. I tried to explain my confusion and my issues but no one was listening. Instead I was dragged onto the floor, half naked by these men, who then threw my clothes at me and forcably ejected me at 2am in the morning with no way of getting home.
Untill now I have had a very good opinion of the hardworking staff in A&E, But I am afraid that trust has now been broken....
The moral of this terrible tale?
Dont shout for your loved ones in A&E! unless you too want the "heavy" treatment.

Last Thursday 01/08 i went into my local hospital to have a tonsillectomy procedure at 18:05 i came around from the anaesthetic at 20:00 and taken back down to my room by 21:00 all o.k. on the following lunch time i was discharged with 400mg of Ibuprofen and 500mg of paracetamol. By the Saturday afternoon i suddenly got this awful taste in my mouth which i could not shift no matter what i drank i even sucked on ice and flavoured ice lollies today Monday 05/08 i got an appointment at my local gp surgery and she was very shocked that the hospital did not send me home with any anti biotics any i have now got liquid form penicillan that i have to take 1 5ml spoonful 4 times daily. I can not believe the negligence of my local hospital.

I googled the 111 service to find out who to complain to about the 111 service,and wrote to them, there are more than one operators of the 111 service depends on your location i think.
Mine was in Ilford and i live in the West Mids.
I called 111 too, i was treated worse than a dog ! An outragous situation indeed. I spare you the details but it was gross incompidence i believed, hence the complaint.

Took my son to hospital but was told to go home and keep an eye on him. If he got worse told to ring for an ambulance, tried to ring for one but was then told i would have to have a call back from a doctor within the hour!!!! Is this what i pay my taxes for???

does anyone know how to make a formal complaint regarding 111 services?
Basically my wife went to her GP yesterday with severe pain from abdomen she was given buscopan and told to see if it calms down after a couple of hours and if not to ring back. She rang back a couple of hours later to say if anything it was worse. the GP then told her to get straight into hospital. We rang 111 to get her admitted and explained the GP had a suspicion of appendix and she needed ambulance to hospital. We was told after going through the process it wasnt life threatening and would be 4 hours for an ambulance. we made the phone call at 1pm after 4 more calls to the 111 service we finally got an ambulance for 7pm i was disgusted that they could leave someone in agony for so long. she was admitted to warrington hospital yesterday and had surgery to remove her appendix and also they had to remove and ovarian cyst that had ruptured.

Dad had been ill for a couple of days when a doctor finally came out to see him, Dads pulse was weak and he was jaudice but after asking to go to the hospital, a place dad hated, the doctor said he wasn't ill enough and give him laxatives. Hours later dad had died from blood poisoning. We have to live with not knowing if that doctor could have saved him. Now just to kick us in the teeth some more our local GP have had an insurance form that we need him to sign for two weeks, after phoning to see if had been signed we were told the doctor is not obliged to sign any form and to phone later in the week. We haven't the money or heart to complain anymore.

Just I come from Eyes Casualty in Northampton General Hospital They believe I am a idiot. In true. They never solve my eyes problem for 2 years and they make me worse problems. Anyway the manager not only no ask my name and related info. Try to make I can't get any probe or evidence again the doctors tread me in the past. Shame of the NHS I need to contact to a GP in SPAIN for tell me what is the problem and what is the checks need to do here in the NHS. Shame of the the NHS in 2 year never make that checks and waste my health and time. What I go to do now. First change of Hospital Change of GP and sue the Hospital with a good solicitor. I live here us self employer I pay TAX and National Insurance contributions and I need to be thread with respect and with the attention like any other more . But this people not care about any one. They only scare if you make a legal complaint possible that time you get the correct treatment . what I need now 1 My eyes problem solve possible to late . Second Every doctor involve in my case kick out of the Medical Profession. If I can't get that a very strong compensation for make the NHS change the procedure about treatment and staff. The problem of NHS is not a economical problem is a problem of staff management a problem is not solve if you no start cleaning all the doctors and nurses not have a correct qualification and preparation for the job.

I was discharged from hospital in October 2011 and was told that a care package had been put in place with my medical practice.

On seeing the Doctor with my husband with me, he stated there would be no help of any kind for me. I am battling breast cancer for the second time and some home help would have assisted me , I found out later that there is a package available for six weeks for those just out of hospital and it is not means tested.

So why was I refused this help. Also the GP stopped my cancer medication as he thought it was too expensive thanks to Boots the Chemist pharmacist who argued the case as it is now as cheap as other medication.

To top it off, this Doctor caused me so much hassle at a time when I needed the support, he then deregistered me for no good reason save for the salary in his pocket.

I have complained to the ombudsman who are investigating the case, however, the Doctor now is away for the foreseeable future whatever that means?

You go to a medical practice for help not to start trouble. It would be nice to know that Doctors care these days but I'm not so sure they do anymore.

Disappointed and disgusted.

My mothers local GP seems to spend endless weeks on holiday or doing charity work whilst drawing a full time salary. Its impossible to get an appointment when you ring up and yet whatever time of the day you go the waiting room is completely empty. What's more disturbing whilst the doctors are away at the tax payers expense the surgery is left dangerously under staffed where the genuinely I'll are unable to get to see a doctor pushing these patients to the emergency rooms. I also seriously question these doctors clinical judgement as well since my mother presented with a clear heart condition that even a first year med student would recognise. My mother was given dizzy tablets and sent away to suffer in a confused and vulnerable state. A disgraceful way to treat a little old lady.

i have pernicious anemia and have been on injections for 12 years i changed gp practice and they have took me off the injections even though i should have them for life,they took me off them because my blood test results showed a false high which will do if on treatment i am now really ill again with the symptoms of low b12 but yet the doctor still will not put me back on the treatment i have no idea what to do and i am very scared as i know pernicious anemia can be fatal, it is in the doctors BNF guidelines that the injections are for life but yet i have had my treatment stopped i am really suffering with all this and all the doctor keeps doing is giving me antidepressants i am not depressed i am ill because of him stopping my treatment does anyone have any advice about what i should do i have already contacted pals but they said i need to talk to the gp which got me no where

Well it doesn't matter what my origional complaint was about, but the department was a joke. Was told the investigation was finished at the begining of the year, after chasing them and after they had asked for double the time. then nothing back fot a few months so chased again then no reply to that after a month I

Sent them a legal notice which must be responded to in 28 days.

This got a quick response and finally they sent me the response to my complaint. After more than 6 months.

It contained little more than data from the investigation, certainly wasn't deal with as a complaint

Also it looks like no one actually read it or the 24 pages of extra information I originally supplied.
Where I hadn't provided enough information non was ever asked for.
They are a professional? complaints department i am not a professional complainer.
Also read the gmc guidelines they must addear to before complaining.
The results they sent me where self contidictory, fir instance adding extra text when claiming to cite a document they also sent me that did not have that text in it!

I'm not getting back to them I have contacted the ombudsman, will contact my mp and see if a lawyer can look at the response to see if they have said things which amount to breaking the law.
Also if a specific Dr is causing issues say you will report them to the gmc for mallpractise and do so, evedence helps with thud.
Essculation, lawyers and the gmc is all i can advise, don't play their game it will make you ill.

I sense that I will be making a complaint about the care I receive in the hospital I visit.

I am a Visually Impaired person, and my consultant is refusing to complete the certificate for registration because he has not found a cause. I had a visit from Social Services last week, who told me that many customers are having the same problem with the very same consultant.

Hmm. So I now have my GP and Optician working with me to get consultant to fill out the form, and not prevent me from receiving the support I need.

I went to this site for help, but it's whole character, wording and attitude really says "just go away (not the phrase that initially came to my mind, but this is a public website), it's not worth it" for example 'Making a complaint can be daunting'. Why should it be? Or is this a code meaning, you know, just don't bother, as you can see from the wording here everything has been approved by our lawyers who are highly paid to make sure you don't matter.
Sorry for the tone but I would like my GP to see me occasionally (over 18 months now) to continue the anti depressant prescription, rather than relying on the diabetic nurse. I think they get paid a bonus for the diabetic care which would explain a lot.

Complaining about the NHS is a long and stressful process. I wrote a letter of complaint about the treatment my partner received at hospital. We then received a letter which stated they would aim to respond within 25 working days and if an extension was necessary we would be contacted before that deadline to explain why. On the 24th working day we still hadn't received a response or an explanation of why there was a delay. Therefore, I called the contact telephone number in the letter. Nobody answered the telephone so I left a voicemail to call me back and nobody called. We still haven't received a response to our complaint and still no explanation to why. As an already frustrated patient the complaints procedure just adds to the frustration. However, I still believe it's important to complain when things go wrong.

In March 2012 My wife tripped over the kerb when walking the dog who decided to pursue a cat. She sustained a broken arm ( rotator cuff injury) to the ball joint and was in a sling for 8 weeks. She has been on pain killers ever since and is still waiting for an operation on the tendons etc to relive the pain. There has been administrative cock up after cock up because as usual the specialist has left the NHS and my wife wasn't put on his list of existing patients that he needs to deal with. Its taken a year to get a decent MRI scan the results of which 3 weeks ago at least show there been no deterioration of the bone and spread of arthritis. So now one year later having been told she will be operated on in June she was now told today it will be July to September now

Now she is having issues with her constitution and we are now worried the constant use of pain killers being administered are affecting her liver etc so now she has got to go for more tests to make sure the delays in sorting out the shoulder haven't caused damage else where with the adminstration of pain killers for the last year.

Im now going to get private family health care as a result of this farce..and oh yes my wife cant work any more so is effectively in limbo so her GP has now signed her off for another 3 months.
Her GP has been very supportive but could be applying a bit more pressure to either get her bumped up the list or to receive treatment elsewhere.

However, I don't believe for one minute that they will be successful, because the NHS like most big organisations look after their own. That being the case, they will never admit to mistakes, ever.

If you do put complaints through to PALS and NHS complaints, then get ready for a fight because unless you go through all the other avenues, then they will make excuses and cover things up, and hope you go away.

I visited my gp in jan this year after having 4 csections and losing 6 stone in weight my body wasnt in the best shape I wentfor some advice as I have been feeling really down and dont like leaving the house. He asked me to lift up my top so he could look at my stomach as I did he leaned back in his chair screwed up his face and told me I looked discusting to which I burst out crying he told me he would not refer me to the nhs but instead I should save up my child benefit and go private as he was not willing to help. I felt so degraded when I left I went home and cut myself. Ive started to sink into a depression and dont want to go back to my gp as he is the only doctor at the surgery and apparently I live out of the catchment area for the other gp's what am I suppost to do as ive lost all confidence in this doctor

I don't know what my rights are in this case but I am getting increasingly desperate because I believe that my father is not getting the right treatment from his GP. He used to be highly intelligent and successful but he developed a hoarding habit in his sixties and it steadily got worse. My sister and brother in law tried to help him by arranging (with his consent) repairs to the house as well as removal of years of mouldy rubbish which had been causing him to have bad asthma. The work had started but two days later he returned home and demanded that the mouldy things (including old toilet bowl and mouldy kitchen cupboards) be left alone. My sister and her hubby with the best of intentions got rid of them when he went out for a day. He has never forgiven them for it, has had a massive fall out with them and now is constantly abusing them and my mother as well. He got sick last summer because he would not allow anyone to do any cleaning and he got an ecoli infection and ended up in intensive care. The doctors managed to save his life but warned if this happened again he is likely to die. He has gone back home and everything is the same, he does not allow any cleaners in although the government pays him an allowance for cleaners on the recommendation of his GP as both him and my mother are frail and unable to manage (he is in his 80s and she is in her 70s). The house is as dirty as ever and all he can talk about is how my brother in law and sister stole from him and he calls them all kind of obscene names all day long much to the distress of my mother. He won't let anyone to come in to do the cleaning and will not do it himself and is constantly agitated and abusive towards my mother. We have repeatedly asked his GP to do something but somehow he manages to convince his GP he is fine by talking about things which happened twenty years ago ( about which he is very sensible). I don't know what to do. I will continue commenting.

Hi... just want a bit of advice and have a rant about my GP!
I woke up 8 weeks ago at 2am shivering and with really intense back ache, i went to the loo and my urine stank and was very dark and cloudy. i went to see my GP who said it was a UTI and gave me a weeks antibiotics, the antibiotics got rid of the UTI but the pain in my back, side and groin remained and 2 days after finishing my course the UTI came back... its now 8 weeks later and i have had four different courses of antibiotics given by my doctor, and each time a few days after my course of antibiotics finish the pain gets worse and the UTI comes back... currently my symptoms are pain and aching in my lower back, side, kidneys and groin... intense aching of my whole pelvis, a deep down bone ache! smelly urine, cramps, dizziness, blood in urine, urine dark and cloudy, sweats, shakes run down with no energy, unable to urinate properly, burning sensation, feeling like i need to go all the time... the list goes on!
my doctor has not examined me, he has not check my blood pressure, temp or anything... he has check my urine and came back with confirmation of E Coli infection... but the thing is... how long can i go on like this.... yes he is clearing up the urine infection but surely the reason why it keeps coming back needs looking at.... should i go to A&E and if so... what do i say ? i have a UTI and feel crap? also is the longer i go damaging my kidneys and/or bladder etc?

after 8 weeks of having a knee injury, after seeing my physio several times and a specialist, i was then told by my GP about self referral for equipment. i've been stuck in my home most of the time which has been hell as i'm an active 26 year old, and had to use costly taxi's to get around. i have been told by my GP it could be up to a year before my knee feels normal again, and i belive this incidenthas disrupted the healing process.
recently my work have asked for my medical recoreds about the knee and when i might return to work (as i'm on my feet at work on average 10 hrs a day). my GP practice were going to send my full medical history which firstly, i wasn't happy about, and secondly my work place hadn't asked for my full medical history they only wanted the information about the knee indury.
i now think that i will loose my job due to the fact my knee hasn't improved, and i believe this is due to the fact i wasn't informed about the self referral. the biggest annoyance is i see other people more able than myself using crutches.

I have had severe bowel problems for the past 10 years (I am now 26). I have had countless tests that involve all sorts of things over the years. I’ve been under the care of 4 different hospitals and been diagnosed with 5 or so different things ranging from IBS to crohns to suspected bowel cancer. I have been treated awfully by some hospital staff and GPs who have treated me like Im over reacting etc because my blood tests have always come back normal. Ive been on steroids a lot and all sorts of medication..sometimes taking up to 15 pills a day for whatever they suspected I have had. I am unable to work, yet can’t claim any incapacity benefit and to be honest I don’t want too. I want to work and I miss it, its now coming up to four years since my last job and if it wasn’t for my partner working I’d be in trouble. We have two children as well and at the moment I an unable to look after them without help…

In October last year they found a lump in my rectum, I had a whirlwind of tests including mri, ct scans, ultrasounds, and tube tests. I then got referred to a specialist hospital in oxford that deal with bowel problems. It has come out that I have something called ‘solitary rectal ulcer syndrome’ which is very rare, I also have a rectal prolapse which needs surgery. I have been told by my current surgeon that the damage to my rectum is something he has never, ever seen before. He, another bowel surgeon and my GP have all said this- They have never seen anything SO bad. I have said for years and years that it felt like something just simply wasn’t working and have been ignored and treated horribly…now Im facing having to have a stoma bag at the age of 26 because of their negligence. I dread to think what having to be on steroids so much has done to me too.
Surely they should have seen this in all the bowel tests over ten years. The way I have been treated has called so much damage to myself and my family.

Recently, I arrived at the A&E at University College Hospital in London. I was in the queue waiting to drop my name & symptom at the front desk.

After a 15-20 mins queue, it was finally my turn. The staff member sitting at the A&E reception took my name & asked for my symptom. He advised me that the waiting time is around 4 hours, minimum.

Every patient would agree that it is quite a long waiting time and his reply was "Well everyone uses A&E as their GP. It's people like you that causes this. Do you want me to put you on the list or not?". I was appalled and shocked that someone would be so rude to a patient!

I was extremely disgusted with his comment so I left immediately and decided to bare the pain to go to my GP instead. I agree that some patients should go to their GP but sometimes due to variance circumstances, they have no choice but to head to A&E. A&E is not all about a knife stuck in the chest to call it an emergency.

NHS staff should not be working in the hospital if they disrespect the patients. Some fast food restaurants have a better customer services than the NHS hospitals. Us tax payers are paying their salary & they should be so grateful to have a job in this economic climate.

After my treatment at hospital I feel completely disgusted, confused and abused. I have no confidence or trust in this system and now look for treatment overseas. With few exceptions, I find the hospital staff to be uncaring, uninterested and unsuitable to their roles. (A qualification obviously does not infer competence or suitability).

When asked of my opinion of this service I can only reply, "inhuman".

My GP denied a referral to a certain hospital for 5 years. Eventually I was so concerned about my condition, I went abroad to seek consultation. I was told that the foreign titanium bodies were broken in my spine, etc... Only when I came back with x-rays my GP did something about it. But still, there was no referral to the hospital. I was told the procedure was to go to 8 sessions of physiotherapy and if that didn't help, then they send to hospital. Months later my GP realised that titanium cannot be 'glued' by a physiotherapist and my condition kept on getting worse, so I got set to hospital, where I am to undergo more surgery.

Yesterday I collapsed to the floor at my GP's. I can't sit on their awful plastic chairs for long cos of my back. But I can't stand for long as I black out. Their waiting times are around an hour every time, even if you book the first appointment of the day, as the doctors are always very late. The reception refuses to make any adjustments even though I asked. Anyways, I didn't quite make it to the chair chair in my GP's room, I backed out right by it, collapsing to the floor. My GP didn't even stand up to help me or called anyone in. He just sat at his desk. When I came around I got myself up and sat on the chair. My mind was not working properly, and I couldn't get words out, my words were slurring. I asked him for a glass of water, he looked at his bottle and told me there is no water he can give me. I felt he couldn't wait to get rid of me. When I left I had to stand right outside the door for a bit as I couldn't walk straight. My directions were all disoriented and it took me a few seconds to work out where the door was LOL. I actually feel discriminated and injured. I cannot come to my GP without getting physical back injuries.

I have also asked for another referral between Christmas and New Years for lumps in my neck, nothing has been written and it's not even on the record. I've been in there 3 times already for it.

i went into labour at 39 weeks with my second child.I went straight down to glangwili at carmarthen to get the help and care from the midwifes as you expect! i was stuffed into a side room and after the midwife seen i was two centemeters dilated i dind really see her agen......but even tho i had no help and support from the staff that aint the worse bit after givin birth to my little boy in the side room yes they did not take me to a labour room they left me and my son in bloody bead sheets for 8 hours intill the cleaner came the next day and ro top it off i couldnt get out of my bed as there was blood and my waters all over the floor whitch was not cleaned intill the next day either......discusting.i do not trust any local hospitals any more and would rather take my son miles to get seen than see that filth again! giving birth is ment to be ain to special when your left in blood for hours!!!!!!!!!

I just been refused for service in Waitchapel hospital for pain in my left side, they suggest go to my GP as new system started working in hospitals, but that system is not working in my local GP. Been at GP, but they prescribes just pain killers and not treats the symptoms. Last time doctor in surgery told me that I have shingles, when I was fed up and go to hospital doctor told me that I have blood infection and prescribed me antibiotics (I still have hope that NHS have good doctors). Why we need GP's who prescribes just Ibuprofen and Paracetamol and just one problem in one appointment and if you have several problems, how many appointments do you need to make in one time?

i phoned for an abulance on the 23rd of december and they refussed to get me even after i told them i was in terriable pain in abdamon and shoulder pain that went down my arm, i told them it kills to breath, they told me to take paracetamol and wit for out of hours to contact, they pain only got worse so i called back again, yet again they refused to get me. i was all alone and the pain was unbareable, i waited as i was told but passed out from the pain, i called them back the next morning and begged them to help finally they sent out the abulance. when i got there i found out i had an ectopic pregnantcy and it had rupperd the night befor when i had rang the abulance service the night befor, i was left for over 10hours bleeding internally and need emergency surgery. now im left with a massive scar and no baby, i felt like i didnt deserve to be saved, being left for so long i needed help and they didnt till it was almost to late, i could of died

I have a relative currently being treated on Ward 2Y at the Royal Liverpool hospital. She is 89 years old and this is the third ward she has been on since November. Originally taken in for treatment of a fractured femur she has since been treated so badly that she is now being treated in the stroke unit. On her first ward she received the wrong treatment from nurses by them trying to get her to put her full weight on her injured leg - eventually resolved by a physiotherapist. She was left on multiple occasions sat in her own urine as nobody would help her go to the toilet as her movement was restricted. Windows left wide open during the day and freezing cold wards at night resulted in her getting a chest infection. Combined with a wrongly inserted cannula into her muscle instead of her vein she lost the use of her left arm with heavy bruising. She has now developed an irregular heart beat which has led to two (so far) small strokes. She has been dropped by nursing staff on four occasions and left on the floor for up to 20 minutes at a time until a hoist could be found. On more than one occasion she has been shouted at by staff for either not helping herself enough or risking getting food on her sheets even though she only has the use of one arm. The walls are filthy and there is a lack of sufficient hand cleansing available for visitors meaning you have to touch several door handles before finding a cleaning station. She has had at least one occurrence of vomiting following a dodgy sandwich with others on the ward also being affected. There are people on ward 4a also being dropped and left with no dignity. We have tried complaining to staff but there is never anyone senior enough to comment and no continuity of care. For example when moved to another ward the nursing staff didn't have any records and relied upon the patient to provide details of drugs taken. At this point I have no idea if she will leave the hospital alive. Very worrying indeed.

I have NO faith in the NHS these days. My husband had terminal prostate cancer and the treatment he received at the hospital was diabolical, just one problem after another. They told us three times that it wasn't cancer, until he returned after a 6 month period and the Oncologist decided to check, just as a precaution! It was dreadful and I have to add that it continued like that right up until the end. My GP has been no better as I desperately need help for hoarding and depression and all he said was that he had never heard of it! The local mental health team don't seem to know anything and have refused me CBT which is the treatment for hoarding! Instead they give me tips on how to clean up my house. That's like telling an alcoholic to put down the bottle but give him no other help. My father had cancer last year and the GP came to visit, and sent the nurse up to see him in bed when he wasn't sure himself what the problem was! Another nurse laughed at my dying dad when he insisted on using the toilet instead of the commode and had no clothes on. This upset my dad who didn't need that at all. We reported it and were told that the nurse would come round with someone to help sort the problem out, but the nurse turned up on her own - obviously she denied it! I really really think that everyone who works for the NHS needs re-interviewing and assessing and stricter guidelines all round. They seem to forget its people's lives they are dealing with. Sort yourselves out nhs!!!

What do you think of the NHS these days?, you go to the doctors if you can get through to them on the telephone. Half the time you have to phone them at 8:30am in order to get an appointment, only then you keep phoning repeatedly, meaning you can't get through at first which puts you under pressure and sometimes you cannot phone until 12:00.

I am not very pleased, often we have left there after a long hour wait without any prescription, one doctor said I have a certain condition and the other says another thing.

My husband and I pay 100 pounds a year for a PPC. My son has been to our doctor, with a condition known as Urticaria, which comes and goes and I phoned up and spoken to the doctor, who said there's no cure and you have to wait for the infection to leave the blood stream. These doctors get paid for each patient, even if they are not ill or have not given a prescription and my husband and I are very upset to think we are not given the right treatment and I myself have been diagnosed with Eczema and one of the doctors at the same establishment, told me I have dry skin which I have never suffered in my life as I moisturize it every day and was given no creams or was just told I cured myself, please remember my husband and myself are paying 100 pounds a year for a PPC card.

How many people have had this problem?. What's happening to the NHS?.

The NHS service needs to be shook up. I was initially misdiagnosed in May with a Rotary Cuff Injury by Wythenshawe Hospital then by one of my doctors at my local practice. A month later and still in a lot of pain I returned to my doctors and fortunately saw another doctor who scheduled a MRI scan at Tameside Hospital. Needless to say this took months and then another month after it to get my results.

I was diagnosed with cartalide damage and require an operation. I can not work as I am a front line police officer and I am in constant pain and have limited movement in my right shoulder. I now seem to be at the back of a very long queue waiting for a date for an operation. I contact the secretary of the doctor I need to see regularly however she can not give me an update of when my operation is likely to be. I love my job and want to get back there as soon as possible however because of ridiculously long waiting times I am not having much success. I know this is not the fault of the doctors and nurses who I see when I attend at the hospital there are just far too few of them. Cuts after cuts have reduced the service that we receive in this country. There needs to be more nurses, more doctors and more surgery's scheduled. The working people of this country and those who have worked all there lives need to be looked after better by the NHS.

My GP is constantly turning me away from my requests to be referred to a dermatologist, even though upon reading the NHS guidelines for scar treatment, I qualify. If I cannot self-refer or if he keeps turning me away, I am literally going to cut my huge scars away with a scalpel and re-close them myself. I am not being turned away because of their size as they are apparently easily treated for their size, but I am being told to just 'get a tattoo'.
NHS, do you really want us to begin to self-operate? When someone asks us (should we even still be alive afterwards) why we did it, we'll be sure to say 'because the NHS didn't want to try to do what they are capable of doing'. Cheers.

I really dislike my GP. I have had such little support from them since I have been feeling unwell. I have been to the practice many times with concerning physical problems and each time I try to discuss how badly I am feeling I am just turned away having to look for private healthcare. I had some blood tests and scans done (most of which privately) and my GP said there is nothing wrong and showed me the door. I disputed the fact that the tests were not definitive if I was still having what I consider to be serious symptoms. I saw my GP again on Monday morning and I was so upset and tearful asking what I was going to do. I was shuffled in and out of the office in less than ten minutes. I was told that my concerns would be thought about over lunchtime and I would receive a telephone call from the GP's office later in the afternoon. Of course I did not receive a call, instead was left wondering what I was to do. In the end I had to find a private healthcare clinician to help me who I met and had a long consultation with yesterday evening. This is all to a high cost, but what was I supposed to do?
I just do not understand why my GP is so inattentive. I even tried to go to A&E clearly explaining what was wrong and following blood tests I was told to leave the department as everything was fine yet still ignoring my symptoms. I find all of this far from satisfactory, feeling that I have been left to fall though the NHS net without any real care or attention.
I am left feeling neglected and extremely worried about what is really going on and indeed that the NHS has not been able to do anything for me. No wonder so many people are favoring private healthcare, but then not everyone can afford it.
If I would have received some more care and compassion from my GP initially I feel that I would not have got in this terrible state. I am now really reluctant to go back to the practice for advice about my symptoms having been turned away so many times.

My partner has 'suffered' now for approx 18 months with chronic backpain. Somedays he can hardly walk its affecting his sleep his ability to travel and constantly being in pain isnt good for anoyones state of mind. So 18 months later and quite a few doctors appointment all we have is pain killers and worry. NHS has done nothing for him, he needs a spinal specialst and a scan. We are now on a 14 week waiting list after waiting 8 weeks to get a letter informing us of an appoitnment to see a spinal physio. The problem being we have had three different diagnois already so still 18 months and no1 is able to tell us whats wrong!

. We are now using the saving we saved for 2 years towards a house deposit on getting him seen by a privately . He needs a MRI scan and an actual diagnois. Due to the worry the pain is causing and the affect on his life we have little option but to pay for his treatment. When you work hard and pay your NI all your life its ridiculos. NHS is useless and pathetic letting people suffer like this, when undeserving people go straight to the top of the list. He has to carry out his painful journey to work everyday and his painful day at work and the painful drive home, before a night broken sleep to wake up in pain and start all over again.

I wish i had a private healthcare policy, instead i had faith in the NHS what a joke that seem now.

NHS bar humbug, 18 weeks,rubbish, it's now 28 weeks and they don't seem to care!
From my first GP appointment ( who I hasen to add missed diagnosed my problem even tho they were the same syptoms as 2 years previous) to now has been at least 15 months. I've been told I need major surgery on my back have had 2 dates(In Sept and Oct,both been and gone) so spoke this morning and still no clue as to when my op will be. Patient care.........think the NHS has missed something in those 2 words. no work work 17 months and am skint and completely fed up.(polite version)
Complain,why complain? it falls on deaf ears or just lots of empty promises.........NHS please for all our sakes Sort yourselves out...........Now!

The system has become corrupted by LAs directing the commissioning & altering the Medical Record by shortening for the commuter on a remit.. This can be seen by questionable catchment areas in London so if you live on a boundary of 3 boroughs your choice is lesss than a third & you can be cut off by accountants balancing the books so those with conditions it can't cure get neglected. I don't expect the NHS to damage my health because of neglect of wishes & need for referral, As for Complaint system they set you up as adversarial using remits to abandon then use security when you ask for someone in charge.
At the moment been deregistered trying to address these issues when need urgent preventative medication & referral . they have allocated to an inaccessible surgery working from a Record that is dangerous . I shouldn't have to move out of London to access an NHS that can research objectively.

I recently injured myself and had what looked like my clavicle sticking out of my chest. It looks like a bone protruding through my t-shirt. Went to docs, reception said 'a&e'. I was seen in the x-ray depo by a girl of no more than 21 who said, and I quote 'i dont know what it is, but will get somone who does'. She came back alone and said 'they think its probably just muscular'. No x-ray, nothing. Just treated like a time waster!

Something is sticking out of my chest! Im in agony. So I went back to my GP and told them what happened. They sent me for an ultra-sound. As far as I was aware ultra-sounds were for soft tissue, but they dont listen. Must have waited 6 weeks in pain. I walked into the ultra-sounds room and was told immediately....'you need an x-ray on that'. Wow. I do not generally swear, but could never explain my anger without using profanities. I'd been in the x-ray department maybe 2 months before complaing of a bone sticking out of my and told my gp.

I really think my clavicle is broken or dis-located. The Ultra-sounds did it anyway, I think out of embarrassment after I told them the story and said it could be osteo-arthritis. Im only 39, which I know is not an exclusion, but it was done playing sport. So, was I sent down to the x-ray room? No. Back to my g.p, so they could send me for one.

I have now had my x-ray and have to wait 2 weeks. The x-ray person said 'your shoulers arent level'. The whole right hand side of my chest and shouler is infllamed. Its very obvious.

My issue is this, amongst others. If I have a dislocated clavicle or shoulder they should be treated immeditaley. If either are broken, it should be treated immediately. It will have taken Oldham hosital 2-3 months to dignose, despite the patient walking in as an emergency. Oh and its not diagnosed as yet. I havent slept for 3 nights due to the pain.

Incompetence doen't cover it. Neglect might. 6 weeks waiting for the wrong scan and refusal to xray by a&e

NHS complaints procedure? Joke!!
My latest round of complaints about a lack of treatment and breach of 18 weeks resulted in the following information from my PCT.
"oh you are aware of the 18 week target?"
"No. I am aware of my legal right to be treated in 18 weeks!"
"Yes. that's our target, but sometimes we don't achieve it"
"No. Its not a target. Its a Maximum"
"Yes. we apologise.....unfortunately there is nothing we can do"
"Yes you can find me somewhere to be treated as it says in the constitution"
"Erm. yes, we apologise. we are doing everything we can"
"So. what are you doing?"
"Well sir. we are looking into your complaint"
"So you aren't looking for somewhere to treat me quickly. like you are supposed to?"
"we are aware of your complaint sir. we will investigate it"

18 weeks? legal right? choices? Complete and utter rubbish!! Why do I find it hard to understand that if my dog was in pain and I took it to a vet it would be diagnosed and treated within a couple of days. yet as a human being i don't have the same rights??
18 weeks - Oh I wish!!! 18 weeks is 17 weeks too long, but I'd still be happy to have received some form of treatment for a prolapsed cervical disc in that time frame rather than spending 5 months drugged up to the eyeballs on morphine.

I only hope I never have to make use of the NHS in earnest ever again. (not that I've managed to make use of it yet)
Thanks NHS for destroying my life and loosing my job through your complete and utter incompetence!

Choice? Its words. Nothing more!!

I was put on the SOS list by my local pain team and told to contact them if things got bad. I have contacted the hospital where they are 6 times over the last 3 months and everytime the lady has apologised and passed on my request for a call from them or an far nothing !
I am totally disgusted ! and am about to call again only this time to put in a complaint . I am in agony and have been back to gp who is referring me back to spine team oh and here we go again.

I think it is disgusting that i phone for an ambulance at 23:06 as i had chest pains light headed, and had trouble breathing i get told help is on its way and at 23:43 im still waiting for an ambulance i phone them back up and get told a ambulance is on its way. I could hardly speak when i first phoned up, How can it take them that long when the ambulance base is within a mile away from my home anything could have happened to me by the time i phoned the second time luckily i started feeling a bit better.

doctor performed an incompete evacuation following a faied pregnancy, complications of his error retained products of conception, infected with strepococci septicemia strain B, this micro organism infiltrated my heart and lungs leaving me disabled with extensive lung damage, also mitral valve prolapse, heart operation in 200 for takakardia. Lung capacity only 50%, cannot run, dance or even row wtihout getting breathless.
no compensation for me as you get 3 years to bring a claim, my diagnosis was 17 years after the event. I am a youjg 52 year old and i am very angry my quality of life has been so impaired by the doctors error, he is having a life somewhere oblivious to what he done to me. I am statue barred this is so unfair it was impossible for me to have known about my lung damage as scarring of lungs due to infection takes years to show itself although many trips to the GP complaining of breathlessness he told me it was due to stress and anxiety, how stupid, he never really looked at my notes to see i had septicemia, therefore should have known about the compications of the infection,
The law states time runs to bring a claim at ones knowledge of knowing like i said my diagnosis was 17 years after the event, when i did compain the responce i got was sorry but! Surely somene should be held responsible in this day and age people have rights but in my case it appears not. there must be many like me disabled by errors and not able to get recognition. I am so angry and deeply sad about my health issues, my life span will not be as long as it should be, and i dont want to end up in a wheel chair with a oxygen tank. I want to run dance and breath like others, i cry at times, i am deeply angry. wish the NHS would give me the recognition i so deserve i am tired of this endless fight. I often think if i had Passed over there would be no one to shout for me, it would have been sorry your daughter did not pull through, imagine that.

NHS choices is strictly monitored. Your not allowed to make suggestions, give any kind of advice, or links to websites. Therefore you cannot pass any knowledge onto people using the NHS, to weigh up the pros and cons of treatment, through your experience and research. Likewise, no ammunition against the NHS should you be looking to complain.

The problem with the NHS are GPs
In other countries you go to a specific doctor / section depending on your symptoms straight away.

All GPs do is drag out the process and dabble often making the symptoms worse, if it's anything other than the normal standard illness which you would eventually get over anyway, on many occasions.

Doctors surgeries should be split, by doctors specialising in specific specialist areas - rather than just being general.
It would cut out much suffering, delays and adverse effects to medication.

Does anyone from the nhs read these comments\? The complaints procedure is a farce - if you complain to the practice manager, you are complaining to some one who is paid by the GP you are complaining about. If you complain to the PCT, they do not investigate but simply refer back to the GP - who of course denies all wrongdoing. What a farce.

My GP has a nasty racist attitude and has chosen to ignore medical evidence that supports my condition - i've basically had to self diagnose because he's so useless and still he won't take note of my private tests - which i could not afford but the NHS leaves you no choice.

I will lose my job and thus my home if i do not get treatment -which he refuses to let me access. What an abhorrent way to treat taxpayers, and people who are vulnerable and ill.

Thank god prescription medications can be bought on the internet; that's my only hope now as i cannot afford further private treatment.

These jumped up GPs are so used to getting away with their behaviour - which is why they do it. They know they are picking on people who are too ill to complain. Disgraceful.

Complaints about unsavoury encounters with GPs / Psychiatrists should be taken seriously and complaints severe horrific side effect psychotropic medication, should be looked into (making the condition if any! worse than it was!)
Psychiatry mimics science but is not a real science. The symptoms it treats are subjective and have not been demonstrated and cannot be demonstrated at the cellular level. That gives psychiatrists free reign to just experiment and symptom chase, often insanely chasing the side effects and negative interactions of the current drug regimen with more and more drugs.

I am 44yo in last 6-7 years I have to use GP service on permanent basis as diagnosed multiple long-term (life-long) illnesses.
it is so disappointing every time to go with problem, and feel like they GPs think you are an idiot. Honestly I think Uk doctors are very low profile, they don't have knowledge they look for solutions online etc. But worst ever thing is offering paracetamol for every single problem, my partner suffered horrible stomach cramps and pain in stomach for several days, guess what, doctor suggested to take up to 8 tab. paracetamol daily for pain relieve! why why?! why don't check for reason why is that pain in stomach? Recently had endoscopy to check Barretts oesophagus I have for more than 5 years, endoscopy went wrong, first time in my life I had aprox. 7 endoscopies in the past. Surprisingly doctor sprayed so many times in my throat it made me sick, throat was well numb and no problem to insert, but when inside stomach he made some fast movements to go deeper and it made me cramp and provoked asthma attack, I couldn't stop coughing,doctor couldn't successfully finish endoscopy, but when checked oesophagus it still had red tongue of barretts. straight after endoscopy I felt pain in my stomach extending to sides liver etc, and throat were sore, now is 3rd day after and I lost my voice, become hoarse, barely can speak, today went to GP told my neck and throat painful and I can't speak. she said its ok just virus or infection! I told her it was hurt on endoscopy not an infection, but she said just go if in 2 weeks time no better come back, and obviously offered to take paracetamol if hurts. Sorry for GPs like these they are shame for worlds doctors I wouldn't call them doctors as they don't know much about medicine diagnosis etc, for example I used to live in countries like Russia and Lithuania, even pharmacists there are very intelligent and educated, but doctors superb! you will not hear about cases like here people dying because

I believe if you are coerced into taking medication and have severe reaction, that any complaint should be looked into against a doctor. If a doctor is not able to notice severe side effects and continues, they should get disciplined. The Parliamentary Health Ombudsman doesn't take this aspect of medicine seriously. They turn round and say "so you had a few side effects!" Those side effects can be horrific and your supposed to accept and tolerate it.

I am also in the process of finding out about making complaints as to treatment in a NHS hospital. But to those of you that have commented about making complaints about GP's as they are self employed. You can complain to the practice or in extreme cases where there is negligence on the part of the doctor you can complain to the GMC (General Medical Council)

These are examples of the types of cases in which the GMC may need to act:
¦ serious or repeated mistakes in carrying out medical procedures or in diagnosis, such as prescribing drugs in a dangerous way
¦ failure to examine a patient properly or to respond reasonably to a patient’s needs
¦ fraud or dishonesty
¦ serious breaches of a patient’s confidentiality
¦ any serious criminal offence.

Apparently for the surgery I have to register before I can book to see a doctor even though there's a free appointment in 2 hours, fill in a form, register then see about whether you need to see someone after that. "You must be registered somewhere ?" ..."Yes, as I've already told you in a town I lived in 6 years ago" "Is it serious ?"..."Who's the doctor here ?".........It appears to be my fault I haven't registered, they only want regular sickies or hypochondriacs, what use are you if you don't keep them busy with utter nonsense ? I think we should be alllowed a rebate for not using services.

Having waited 28 days for an appointment to see my GP, I am phoned 26 days later to be told I will have to travel to the other side of the town to see a different GP. The reason I put up with the 28 day wait was because the surgery is only 5 minutes walk away .It would seem we have a N H S run for the convenience of the GP rather than the patient !! The government has forced me to pay all my working life for this "service",which is run more like a private club for the boys.I expect to be asked why I didn't come earlier with my problem.

I see that I can leave a comment on the performance of my GPs medical practice which at first sight appears useful.

But how can anybody leave a comment if it they have had to change GP Practice to get away from the bad experience of their previous GP?

It's only afterwards when the consequences of even daring to ask for an investigation after complaining, becomes apparent.

My GP's actions contributed to the death of my only son, then lied (again) to the Ombudsman. I would like to see that Practice closed down and the GP struck off.

I have nowhere to turn because the NHS can't investigate themselves properly across the voard - GPs are independent businesses, and the Health Ombudsman service lacks the direction, intelligence and probably the resources to make it fit for purpose.

I just wish someone would tackle this stupidity and nonsense. It should be obvious from what I have said that I have already gone through the so-called NHS Complaints process to no avail. The GP Practice nor the PCT nor the Ombudsman are interested in examining the facts as actually recorded in various medical records or recorded by my wife in her diaries day by day slowly moving towards our sons death. The fact that the response I received from NHS choices (anonymous via a no-reply email) was firstly to direct me to make another complaint, but not allow me to get back to them to explain, seems irresponsible and indicates the level of understanding most people get from NHS operatives judging by many complaints as given on this page.

I think this comment should be allowed because it is a general question and complaint on the sort of response many people get if they make a complaint. This comment is the only way of contacting NHS Choices - or lack of them.

Waste of time complaining about your GP, they are self employed. The NHS has no power or control of getting them to investigate a complaint. The Parliamentary Health Ombudsman, is out dated and not up on modern treatment. They have assessors that don't require medical backgrounds. The adviser could be a nurse. Most GPs will go straight to their union and seek legal advice.

after the sickness i had and the problems i went through ,i understand that the reason is we should have specialists like dermatologist, pschycologists,pediatricians and..... all other specialists so that every body goes directly to the proper specialist and its way to faster . in most european countries and us and canada they have this system .

I've visited GP many times and met several doctors about my skin disease. It had been 3 years and i still haven't known what my skin disease is and what's causing it. I first noticed my skin problem when I got itchy rashes and scars from scratching those rashes on some parts of my leg. I went to GP to find out what was causing that and the doctor told me that it is because I am allergic to soaps and body wash. Therefore, he gave me some creams to use instead of body wash. I used it for 6 months and made no different to my skin. More than that, my skin rashes got worse and both of my legs are full of scars from those itchy rashes. It was very disappointing for a female to hide her legs from everyone and not be able to wear pretty dresses to party and cover her legs on holidays at beach.
Last Summer, I moved to a different place and registered and a new GP. Since the last time I saw a doctor, my legs got more worse and all the dark patches of scars are everywhere on my legs. Therefore, I booked an appointment at the GP and the doctor said i Got fungus infection and gave me some creams to apply on my legs. I used 2 jars for 3 months and still made no different to my skin. After nearly a year, I booked another appointment and met a different doctor, This time the rash is not only on my legs but even on my backs. I have disgusting scars all over my backs and my legs. I told my doctor everything and she told me to stop shaving my legs.How is that possible!I mean girls gotta shave their legs.Then she said there is nothing she can do to make the scars go away so she told me to go to PRIVATE clinic.How am i able to afford that at the age of 19 and being a full time student?she also told me to go to Indian & African beauty shops to buy some creams to make skin lighter.I am very disappointed in GP doctors. Now,I hate seeing my skin. I hide my skin from head to toe. It's really disappointing how each doctor says different causes to my skin. Terrible. !

Its not till people have to use the service they find out how bad it is. Too the unintiated, the system works as the political spin machine works, I have been denied medication, waited 10 years to have windscreen fragments removed from my head following my RTA, witing for resontructive surgury to throat and having spent a fotune on me they deny me realtivley hap medications on the basis of cost. I have seen so many mental health specialists all of whom do not stay, and one of the anesthatists didnt not even speak English, I sa one nurse spit in a sink whilst above was a sign saying MRSA, please wash your hands, and excercise the utmost hygine! No disabled spaces or facilities are present at the Psycology dept, and the Psucologist spends more time on holiday that at work.

Over a year ago i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 21. I was a student at the time and began my treatment in Liverpool, where i was studying. I cannot fault the diabetes team they have up there, they are aaammmaazing.

However! 5 months later i decided to move back to Surrey after graduating as living on my own wasn't an option any more, i needed friends and family for support.

Obviously i visited the GP to sort out my prescription and be referred to a diabetes centre down here straight away. It took 3 months to hear from the diabetes centre, 4 months to be seen by a nurse, 6 months to be seen by the consultant and the dietitian.

i have know had diabetes for almost 2 years. above is how many times i have seen each of them since being here.
I have gone from being treated as newly diagnosed, getting plenty of help, support and appointments in Liverpool, to being non existent. The danger of this is that my diabetes will get worse and worse if they continue to not provide the tools and information i need to deal with this disease.

I have begged my nurse to be put on the 5 day course every hospital provides for diabetics to teach them about control. It is sooo important for newbies to go on this course and after waiting 2 years, constantly nagging to know when its my turn i was told by my useless invisible nurse that the hospital wont be running one until next year due to lack of staff and maternity leave. its just disgusting.

It will cost the NHS far less to fun this course for diabetics then it will if they don't. we will all end up blind and amputated on benefits and a massive strain on the nhs.

I want to get on with my life and not have a constant struggle with my diabetes everyday but they just wont help me. its so upsetting knowing all the health complications i will have as i get older if i dont take control of my sugars and feeling as if you are doing the best you can but it isn't good enough.

Over the last year I have had medical issues with chronic, ongoing abdominal pain. It seemed that they would admit me to hospital, provide me with pain medication and then discharge me without doing any tests other than urine samples to find the cause of the pain.

Eventually I was sent for an ultrasound scan after being admitted about six times previously, where the doctors then discovered I had gallbladder disease. My gallbladder was then removed.

I have now started to have other abdominal pain and sickness, however when I was seen in the Emergency Department, it was suggested that I must have injured myself and "forgotten I had got the injury", before being discharged. I had no tests at all performed on me in accident and emergency, and had been discharged within five minutes of seeing a consultant. The pain is now agonising.

It seems as though the hospital send people away with large amounts of pain medication without aiming to find the root cause of the issue. I have already complained to the NHS last year about the way in which the hospital staff spoke to me (usually treated me like a hypochondriac), however I then found myself in receipt of an elabrate response stating they were not going to take my complaint any further. Had I been able to afford the expenses, I would have most definitely taken this forward to court in order to persue sueing for compensation for medical negligence.

Why is it that the NHS is soo slow and bureaucratic?? Examples: Referral to ENT or physio therapy takes 4-6 weeks to receive a letter and only then you can book an appointment; x-ray results take a week from hospital to GP.

You complain? You got to take your time writing letters for which you receive polite answers- but nothing changes. As it looks like the tactics is: Make complaining time consuming and awkward, then many people can't be bothered.

Make suggestions? No idea where they end up. At best they probably get discussed by several panels and some may be implemented in the same bureaucratic way the whole system is already operating.

It's nerve wrecking.
Does the NHS actually pay if you like to get treated abroad in Europe? It's much more efficient there.

the problem i have in uk is that there is no specialist doctor like dermotologist or dentist surgeon, cardiologist ,pediatrician and psycologist and many other specialist which people they can go to .
every body with every problem should go to a gp . other thing is a patient should not wait ,there are several cases which people with major health problems even died for waiting for operation .
instead of a gp , there should be specialist clinic or offices which people they go directly to the section they need.
there is nodirect medial lab here to go to have blood test or other test .
even if somebody wants to pay for private one there is nothing here.

Been to the Emergency Gynaecology unit 24 in St. James'es hospital, Leeds today, to open up my abscess (a very painful experience in itself: ().it was a Monday and very quiet, there were no other patients however when i came at noon i was told that the doctor ' went to theather', then at 2:15pm the doctor' was away at lunch' . .i was seen by an intern then went at 2:30pm for lunch myself. there were supposedly two doctors on duty as i was told :(. i was not feeling v well at all and had a fever yet i had to wait 4 hours till the doctor finally saw me. by then, i refused to have an operation cos she said i'd need 'a shot in my spine' for half of my body instead of 'local' anaestesia. i will not go there again.
how come they can be out in 'theatre' during normal working hours. they dont even tell their reception to think up a better excuse...

being an international student am seeking a private doctor here now. i am not bothered that i will have to pay for doctors (as i can afford to pay the tuition fee three times than that for british students), but am annoyed by the formal requirement of being referred to a private doctor by my GP.

my daughter was on a waiting list for 5 years before being seen by a dentist at the hospital for a much needed brace, she was on the list from the age 11 to 16, when she was finally seen I cannot fault the treatment that she has received. However when the treatment ended by the hospital she turned 18, and was supposed to be referred back to the dentist that dealt with her before being referred to the hospital, but because she had turned 18 they refused to treat her as she is now classed as an adult. I contacted the NHS helpline who said that they would look into this, she was told that she would be put on a waiting list, she is now 20 and is still waiting to be seen by a dentist!!!! is it that she has to wait for another 5 years on a list?????

my son has just been refused for the armed forces,as his medical records from his doctor state he suffers from a food allergy which make his lips swell,this is incorrect as his parent i can honestly say he has never had such an allergy,but the doctors comment has stopped him doing the career he has always wanted.i would like to know is it unusual for a doctor to have a wrong information down on a persons records? also if there was such an allergy,would there also be records from a dermotoligist ?

I went into A&E in August last year with severe pain across the top of my back and on the right side under my rib. The pain turned out to be gall stones and apparently at 32 and not being obese I don't fit into the normal category for this particular problem. I went through the whole process of having scans and an ultra sound and then I had to have a stone removed from a bile duct in my liver. Anyway, by now it was December and I had a a pre op appointment for the end of jan with no appointment made for the op, which to be honest didn't bother me really as I had been ok. I had also just been made redundant so I thought if I had it round that time it wouldn't interfere with anything. Well, it's now May and I have just started a new job and a week ago I get a phone call asking me to go in for blood tests the next day, or the week after so I chose the week after. I then received a letter saying that was cancelled to the next day but I got a date for the op which was 15th may. So that was all set, work have been fine with it and then today, the day before I'm set to have the op I get yet another letter saying my op is now on 18th June! After telling work I would be off for 2 weeks I now have to wait another month with no notice that my op had been cancelled in the first place! I am not the least bit impressed!

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust does not surprise me that it has a reputation to be one of the worse Hospitals around uk, well I had personally the bad esperience to realise that actually is a bad hospital. On my appointment I was received edaccept, post remov1.30 hour later from my initial appointment by a pseudo doctor, no apologies were provided I was later discharge with a diagnoses issued without to do proper investigations, some of the test showing eveidenve of a arthrites were completely ignored, now I am going through the complaint procedures there is a not enough information how to deal with complaint this is done in order to discourage patients to take complaints, my complaint reached the Ombusdman but I do not trust that they will up held my evidence, i am planning to send papers to the GMC and maybe search for sollicitors, I come from Italy where the Health system cost one third respect UK and it is 1000 of times better.

I never realized how bad our medical system is in this country until we had to use it.

My husband having 2 strokes this past year and the way he was treated in the hospital was a disgrace, urine bottles were never emptied and always left on the eating table, no one to help you when needed, seems to be the no can do attitude.

After 2 months at hospital and physio at home lasted 2 months, still unable to walk, now has 3 complete clogged arteries in leg and 1 complete clogged artery up the side from hips to under the arm of which is probably the cause of the strokes that could have been prevented in the first place after complaining as far back as 2003 about the pains to the GP and being told to just walk through it.

Taking him back and forth to hospital now, I never realized how difficult it is for someone with severe disabilities as access these facilities. Parking is nil, wheelchairs are of no use that's if your able to find one, lifts within building not operable half the time, hand rails are not fit for purpose as metal and nothing to grip, floor on one ward was broke up and just covered with tape.

On one appt was told he had to be admitted on ward as in danger of losing his leg, the staff on this ward were constantly losing test results and could not keep record of diabetic drugs he had to take, transferred from one ward to another and no one coming around he finally gave up.

Now wondering what situation this now leaves him, remaining in constant pain with no relief and no sleep seems to be the outlook for the future.

I am really disappointed withe health service at Queen's hospitalm it seems like either they are short staffed or ignoring patients as most of the time when you try to ring them they don't pick up their phones, especially the PALs department and the Fertility department, both seems to ignore phone calls, and if you try to leave a mesage no one bothers to call you to sort you problem. I had to resheudule an appointemnt and theyr werent picking up my phone for a whole week I tried, so I personally visited the hospital went that department's reception the lday there said oh that no isnt used for receiving calls anymore but you can leave your message on an alternative no, and someone would ring you back the next day, unfortunately that never happened, actually I had some scan appointment and the doctor wasnt sure about my results and he said he'd contact me to give another appointment, waited for him for few weeks, but never got a phone call or postal letter for appointment.
The Queen's hospital has an appauling service, their staff is very cold and unsympathetic, very rigid and don't care about patients feelings.

My advice to all avoid going to Queen's hospital if possible, its just a new bilding but the hospital is very badly manged and under staffed, for one test in particular they only do it once a week, so my appointment for that is after three months which is appuling considering its such a big hospital, I dont know why kins george is being undermined by Government even they provie much better service to patients as compared to Queen's hospital.

I was passing blood in stools and did not need the TV adds to tell me what was what. I called the GP to be told not to take a sample in and to do urine instead. I was shocked as care was so poor that i paid privately to have Adenomas removed 2 years previously.
I took a visibly blood stained sample to the surgery and a urine one. I got the results back and there was blood and other things in my urine. I was asked to do another. I did.
Following week the results were the same...I was asked to do another.
I am not doing one and see the GP to ask for a referal to a urologist as it says on this NHS site.

The stool sample??? accident at reception i found out that the GP destroyed it.....guess who is taking this legal now, as no one listens, even though i have shrunk from a size 20 to a size 6 and in 2 years no treatment has been offered.
Do you think there is a bit of educating needed to help GP's when they treat their patients??? I do...

Complaint about the bowel cancer awareness campaign.

[1] It is highly misleading. Blood in pooh needs to be reported EVEN if it was a one-off, in anyone over 40 years old. Don't wait till it has lasted for 3 weeks, as the campaign tells you to. Many people with bowel cancer only have one-off blood loss. They need to run a new campaign stressing the fact that even one-off blood loss in middle age or older people needs to be reported to the doctor. The present campaign could actually kill, if people wait until they've had blood in pooh for 3 weeks.

i have been getting ill since 2008 i have had 3 gps in that time one of witch i have just disgharged my self from i have been on morphine now for over 2 years and in october of last year was was diagnosed with fibromyalgia as well as ostioarthrites copd and other heath problems i am 42 years old and can not walk anywere i am so ill it as been so unfair how i have been allowed to suffer and i mean suffer i have had to beg and i mean beg to be sent for a test of any sort i am so disheartented i have even lost the will to go on any more cause i cant cope with the pain i am in

I ended up in a&e on Saturday night due to the negligence of an out of hours gp that I had seen not even an hour before.
I had gone to out of hours with chest pains and explained to him that I had just finished a course of antibiotics on Monday for a chest infection. He listened to my chest as you would expect then said "have you got a cold your nose sounds stuffy" I replied that my nose had only been stuffy a couple of days. He then decided to ignore everything I said and all of my other symptoms as apparently I "just had a cold and it was affecting my asthma" I'm 21 years old and have had enough chest infections each year to know the difference between a cold and when something is not right.
It's a good job I do as well because my boyfriend took my home, I rang NHS direct back and they advised me to go to a&e, and I have to give credit to the nurse who spoke to me because she was lovely and helpful.
I ended up sitting in a&e for 5 hours!!! They did an ECG, chest xray and bloods and it showed that I had an infection. Although I had a long wait the staff were brilliant despite being rushed off their feet all night.
Had the out of hours gp actually listened to me instead of focusing on me having a slightly stuffy nose, then I wouldn't have had to endure sitting in the a&e waiting room for 5 hours with all the Saturday night drunks (one of whom treated us all to an hour of her singing Greece lightning and Whitney Houston songs)
As you can imagine I will be putting in a complaint as soon as I am well

I for one prefer to view the comments on NHS Choices, before selecting which Practitioner Surgery I choose. Rather than a GP appearing on National TV, giving reassurance that the complaints are not a true picture! That's for me or patients to decide as there's no smoke without fire, not a Doctors interpretation!

GP influencing public opinion of a website designed for the general public & their personal practice appraisals / feedback / complaints to achieve better working practices / care / rectify faults within NHS service. GP should not interfere / influence - through their own opinion (Should not be allowed, It's of no benefit to the patient or improvement)

We should be looking to achieve a 100% & put right the faults, after all they're dealing with peoples lives! Not to be looked at as an average.

The results shown on the programme, shouldn't have a bearing as the patients at that surgery are compromised!
As they could be targeted via the patients list on that day.

I think it is wrong that GP appears on National TV programme, complaining about anonymous comments on NHS choices. Very misleading / Misleading the public.
They saying it's a personal attack. The site is monitored & naming of particular GP to name & shame, is not allowed due to legal reasons & amended.
The other reasons why it works so well, is that people are not pressurized & to meet the people complaining about, feeling awkward having their view swayed.
They cannot be crossed off the surgery patient list & told to seek a new practice.
They can not be prejudice against, for taking action.
In order that preferential treatment is not given to the patient complaining & the complaint benefits all patients as a whole - through it being anonymous.
They are also saying it's not showing a true cross section, which to me sound like they don't want to put their faults right and wish to work on statistics which can be interpreted differently.

ive just been to see a pain specialist and he sat there giggling saying 'i can stop your prescription any time i like'.

i am fuming.

he refused to answer the one question i had for him and giggled and said words to the effect of 'wouldnt you like to know'.

he spent the whole interview giggling and getting off on a power trip knowing how easily he could ruin my life and how there was nothing i could do about it for fear of being refused my pain medication.

i really pity his other pain patients.people like that should never be put in a position to hold the keys to the medicine cabinet.

he behaved like a spoilt childish bully taunting a younger child.

total abuse of authority and of my consent to be doctored.

I have had pains on the right hand side of my stomach now for months, everytime I go to my doctor I keep getting different medication and different diagnosis and in the end I did a blood test and went to hospital for an ultra sound on my gall bladder. They told me on the day of my scan that my gall bladder wasn't functioning properly and that I had to go back to my doctor in a week to discuss my next step. I went back earlier this evening and on his results of my scan apparently everything was fine and the same with my bloods. Only now my doctor has now said I have irratable bowels and has given me more medication to take. I am sick of being pushed around by doctors and especially the hospital telling me one thing on the day of my scan and then sending completely different results to my doctor! Something seriously needs to be done with the healthcare system because I can't move at times with my pains and on top of that, I missed out on three weeks of my college education because my pains were causing me that much trouble. At one point I was walking on a crutch to reduce the pressure on my right side when walking and even that didn't help for long. I want a better healtcare system that doesn't constantly mess you around and give you medication you may not even need. Something needs to be done and quickly so that others do not have to keep going back just to keep getting told something different it is pathetic the system we have now and it needs to be changed fast because I don't know if others have been in similar situations to myself, but if you have then I hope you agree with me and say something needs to be changed! I officially refuse to go back to my doctors surgery now as I have quite literally had enough of how I have been treated.

I'm not going to even point out what my problem was, I want to remain anonymous, suffice to say that I haven't even suffered to the degree other patients have on this page.

I want to remain anonymous for the very reason that I could be bullied like the patients here into having no medical support at all.

I just want to point out, why do we stand for this? We pay for the service, and we are entitled to dignity and respect- if not a decent quality of medical intervention. And I don't think we are unique, there is a growing sizeable minority who suffer in silence.

But where are the patient advocates to put forward the patients point of view? The service needs to be reformed to reflect patient's needs, not solely the views of practitioners.

I am very shocked with the service provided by the receptionist .In Wembley Park Medical Centre at Wembley park drive , Wembley. On 3 occasions i tried to book appoint to be see a doctor but they keep telling me to see the nurse. I was going through extreme pain and wasn't something that nurse can cured it . All i know GP as a Joke and i try to avoid it . If nurse are that well experience why do we need a doctor and the receptionist are very very rude , the most rude customer service i have ever experienced in UK. All i told them was if i can book a appointment to see a Dr. in advance they ask me to call early in the morning for the same day. why don't they understand we don't get paid that high as they do get paid by NHS . I work for 6 days and just manage to meet my basic needs and can't afford to leave the job and if i want to be more planned in advance and book appoint rather they giving me their own time and ask me to take time off why can't they book appointment in advance so that i can take time off and planned according that doesn't effect my work . I just hate my GP and i wish and pray to god these all GP personal should get pain in their tooth or somewhere else everyday which could only be treated out side GP and they will know how it feels ?

I made a complaint against a neuro surgeon about the way he spoke to me, He shouted at me in front of a ward of patients and their visitors when I had just came out of Theatre 2hours earlier. There was other problems before the surgery - I had to beg the surgeon for help for 1 year as he would not listen that his first surgery had failed, I am now partially sighted with damaged optic disks so most likely will lose my sight amongst other things.

The hospital looked into the complaint and instead of an apology for the way I have been treated I have now been discharged by the surgeon, no other neuro surgeons in the hospital will see me, aswell as my neurologist not helping me now. All because I made a complaint I am being left in sever pain and the "professionals" are watching me go blind.

No-one will even check to see if the surgery is working. It has been 4 months and the last four months have been the worst of my life. I wish I never even complaint then at least I would have had a rubbish neuro- surgeon instead of not having any.

Following on, I had been treated like a King in, back here I was treated like scum..for how many years! I despise all those dr's nurses and hospital staff who abused me with negligence, racial discrimination, medical negligence absolute rudeness( even in front of my wife and little children!)
This dr who had 'examined' me caused massive adhesions, permanent nerve damage, my urine bladder to be massively distended pushing all my organs right up in my cavity, mental health issues to me and my family, twisted bile ducts ( from the adhesions) which lead my body not to be able to process food, but blocked my system(great!..not)... I've aged 20 years, have zero respect or trust in NHS, have 'damaged' kids now, nervous disposition, mentally scarred wife. What is this all about! natural selection? May God forgive them who did this to me.

I was not told I had a gallstone,which was discovered in 2004. I suffered many years chest pains,even 'heart attacks',eventually last year after being rushed to hospital,suspected heart attack, and being released from hospital with no treatment after being told my heart is fine, i insisted with my gp for a scan, where I was told i have a 15x7 mm stone.I was told |I would need laproscpic surgery to remove my gall bladder.( a personal friend who is a gp said i didn't need suregry,i could have it removed by endoscope.Armed with this knowledge, i went to a gp,who i had only seen once before,to express i dont need this surgery,but endoscope would do the trick..he and i argued heatedly,and he told me not to believe all i read on tinternet..i said a gp told me,when he asked the name of my friend ,i told him, he shut up,1-0 to me.Anyways after much deliberation i had this laproscopy,as i was refused anything else on NHS.after day surgery i was left full of gas and had an awful 4 days suffering with diarrhea and massive pains, flatulence and jelly like tummy.I couldn't carry on , it was horrible,so i was made an app at the gp's.It was the same gp with whom i'd argued. Anyhows, he told me to lie on his table for an examination,so i did.He hovered over me, and with the most viscous force I've ever experienced in my life he pushed down with all his might on my lower left, lower right and whole right hand side whilst saying'so,you've just had major surgery ,have you!'.. I felt like I had been pushed right through my body, right through! In total shock I staggered up,and managed to get home where \i spent two weeks in bed,writhing in agonies.For For 3.5 months I suffered tremendously,getting worse by the day,losing dramatic weight(27kilograms)going nuts in the head,still in shock.Two hospitals later,many gp appointments..all amounting to nought.Eventually in total desperation,my wife took me to Poland,where I was admitted and surgically repaired,thanks be to God for Poland!

I fell over back in February (2011) Breaking the skin and allowing something very nasty to invade my body. I first noticed something wrong two days later when my toes had swollen, followed by my lower, upper legs my whole body as this thing traveled up through me. I felt I 'could cope' so didnt go to see my GP for about two weeks that was only because the swelling had gotten so debilitating and my rib cage felt so tight, I was breathless. They took some bloods, then the results were lost, took some more, by this time the thing had made its way into my chest, my whole left side was aching, I had to hold my left arm in a sling it was so painful, I could hardly walk as any form of motion made my chest/rib cage so sore, made my Heart was pound within. the only thing the blood test showed was that I was Diabetic (I have since had the sugar tolerance test and I am within normal limits) I had seen by now three different Doctors who told me I was imagining it all and didnt know my own body, so nothing was done to help me. I knew something was wrong, the mood swings, the depression, the needed to pee so often at night, feeling so run down and fatigued. It got so bad my whole upper body was rocking with every beat of my Heart, but despite seeing seven Doctors at my surgery (some I saw more than once) Not one of them listened to me heart or tried to help me in any way. I put that down to the fact I am a recovering Heroin addict they all looked to that, I would agree if I had been injecting and by February I was almost three months clean of the drug anyway. So I fought on feeling extremely let down by my Doctors and then in early October I suffered heart failure and was rushed into A and E straight onto a Heart monitor. I have since had an echocardiogram which was normal, however the ECG showed I have a very fast Heart rate and also it is missing four or five beats in between. I feel so cross that no one listened now I am taking beta Blockers and still dont know the cause :(((

Why has the actual cleaning of teeth (plaque etc.) now been sectioned off to a hygienist; treatment which apparently now (conveniently) sits outside of the dental cover offered by the NHS and is thus an aditional c. £50 charge when it was originally a) incorporated as part of a check up and b) inc in the costs which we already pay for in our NI. Just seems a sly way to charge twice. Money is tight and if I'm paying the dentist the same I expect them to do the whole job not half of it! Please advise how I can get them to do this/what the deal is?

I'm not too sure if this is the right place to put this but it seems like it's pretty close.

I filled in a HC1 form (for costs towards services) as I need an eye test + glasses/contact lenses and I am a student living off of £15/week so I can't afford the eye test or the glasses myself.

I haven't received a letter back, or anything with information about anything and its been a month now.
What is the average turn-around for this kind of thing?

The above is what you can expect from an Health Ombudsman employee

You are supposed to / would think you'd able add to your complaint should further facts turn up
(It's there for General Public protection)
Extremely relevant information could turn up at a moments notice - things aren't that clear cut

But the Director of Outcomes & Learning would prefer
to look into why not to look into things - that their non qualified staff (assessor) come up with.

It is so babyish / unprofessional - it's a waste of time even contacting them - only 2% of complaints are looked into - only if they can't wriggle out of it.

CCTV should be used / recordings in all NHS facilities (GP's / All hospitals etc. Even ambulances)
to safeguard the patient as too the NHS employee
all appointments recorded with any staff
the recording cannot be turned off without consent of patient

British gas plumbers have more checks / yearly exam
with a very high % pass to renew licence. GP's should
have to wear a card and state they have been reviewed &
sat exams to brush up their skills on a yearly basis
(& have spot checks to keep them on their toes - continual
assessment like any business) - they are dealing with lives (supposedly important) & get paid well.

Holy Moly GP's - running / managing the NHS budget
maybe will get a muffin & £130 compensation if they don't
deliver! - good at waffle / rude / blaming / singing their own praises / qualifications and that's the elite! Give them a through examination Yearly! An enema - Only the good to be retained
Roll play might help too as too bringing "Matron" back, and smatness.
Bring back proudness, professionalism & good work ethics - you chose your career (vocation)
C should B 4 care!

Mr. Cameron had a good experience but the others don't
his will shouldn't be instilled to others - the complaint's system needs looking into & it should be the patient is innocent until proved otherwise - there's no smoke without fire!
Doctors have taken oaths and shouldn't coerce / manipulate / mislead / get round laws etc.
plus handing out pills (like Sweeties by many) is seen as part of the job - lots of things get better naturally anyway.

The Health Ombudsman has a Director Of Learning Of Outcomes - rather than look into complaints, they rather look into why they shouldn't look into it (even if it could save lives / pain / money etc)
and to see if the "non qualified" asessors (deemed able to do the job) only "non medical / pharmacological" was the right decission - again is this person qualified?
Doesn't actually learn anything, if never looked into & won't answer specific questions but the person complaining has to! Also has 4 times as long to reply, then only 3 months for you to take Legal action. You even have to tick a box "to say you won't take legal action" for them to even look at your complaint - thus showing it's not there to safeguard the public
You'll go round in a circle for sure, it's designed / made difficult so you don't complain & drawn out / unprofessional. Other bodies know your wasting your time & have little input / clout! as many are funded by NHS even Legal Boards
21st. century medicine / complaining "The Dark Ages"
NHS / practicioners are above the law, break laws / get round the law - never liable
or have spot checks. (Science can never be wrong!!!)
They don't know how medicines or treatments work, but they know they never are the cause (So there should be no more breakthroughs)
This does not justify tax payer money (waste or protect the general public) The Health Ombudsman should be replaced with new system / new people without the existing bad habbits / mentality
Many NHS Doctors would like this as they too are concerned by the Doctors who let them & the NHS down
and would be treated as whistleblowers.
Doctors should be fit to practice mentally & physically - but are not monitored & should be - They should have a points system & salary reviewed depending on mistakes made
or dismissal
Seeking the Legal option from the start than going through
the complaints procedure

what lets down the nhs is the doctors. some of the nurses can be fantastic and the facilities and the patients but i had a terrible time in one sence due to outrageously stupid doctors.

Try going to any NHS hospital in and around Herts area,St Marys is a five star hotel in comparison for care! hygienee!handwash dispensers everywhere,and smiling faces,food for a veggie a bit dickie but thats being veggie for you,my physio's have all given there all in picking up the pieces of the atermath of my knee surgery,and in my humble opinion are the real stars not the surgeons,especialy after my last encounter with my orthogod who seemed to think I was a child in the way I was spoken down to,I am not,and the bottle of white wine advised against the tramadol for pain at night may well have neem a joke!but it has not been taken up,I want the pain gone the painkillers gone,and not my liver!!!! but as a hospital St Marys hats off to you with many thanks

I felt very strong and sharp pain in my back and my belly. Being 3 months pregnant I called ambulance. I was not able to walk (every time I tried I collapsed) and did not remember what happened. I was told my pain is not life threatening and nobody will be sent. I was on my own in the flat and unable to walk and scare to death that I am loosing the baby. I was very lucky that my flat mate come back from work and seeing me the way I was called the ambulance again. This time after about 20 min the ambulance come – 2 of them (the out of hours doctor, who I also called, called for one as well).
Once in the hospital I was sat in wheelchair which was taken away from me after about 10 min because other patient needed and that was the only one in the hospital. I was helped by some gentleman who was waiting in the A&E and my flatmate. The nurse did not even bother to move towards me. Once in the room with the nurse I was asked all the typical question (including about my pregnancy etc) in front of another patient (male!!!) who was waiting to be collected by other nurse. Once the nurse finished she told me to walk. Since the pain was so strong I could not move my legs the tiers started flowing. The nurse said that I am not helping her by crying and have to stop. Finally she realise that I am not able to walk and in lots of pain she damped me on the chair and went to get push chair and than transported me to some other room without explaining what will happened next.
.When I called the hospital to find out why was the ambulance not sent I was told that is the machine who decides if the ambulance is needed or not. Somehow it does not make me feel any better.
I also called the hospital to find out why I was intervied in front of male patient but nobody called me back.
I was never scared of labour but after this experience I am terrified and not being able to sleep thinking how am I going to be taken care in this hospital.

you must always complain if things go wrong or you are not recieving the correct care you should. otherwise things will never improve in the nhs. there is always a way to take your complaint further and if you reach the ombudsman and he does not listen take legal action there are a lot of poor solicitors out there but if you shop around you will find one with the bottle to take them on dont let the system beat you.

After noting in my file that local anesthetic does not have any effect on me the night before major surgery to remove a kidney, the team relied on an epidural for pain relief during and after the operation. An epidural uses local anesthetic. So I underwent major surgery without any pain relief. When I complained I was told that local anesthetic was "safe", and was then ignored. I wish NHS staff were able to read...

They keep a record on you and they single you out for further neglect. its a fact that I have proven time and again.
They also break patient confidentiality between departments, which I have also proved so if I were you, if you want more treatment forget your complaining and make a protest outside the building with banners etc..

The sad fact is that there is no complaints system that is in support of the patient. It does not matter how you are treated. I was refused hospital treatment and I had to be re-admitted after presenting myself to gp's and to hospital. I had loss of motor function in my right arm and I had to take myself into the hospital chapel after admission by ambulance just to force them to give me an MRI scan! The scan revealed that I had two prolapsed discs and the surgeon told me I needed emergency surgery which I had within 36 hrs. None of this mattered when I complained through the levels including Ombudsman, MP, etc, etc.. All I got for my pains was further neglect by NHS dental and now I have just had to attend 3 practices just to get my problem acknowledged! My wife had two teeth drilled without anesthetic and she was totally traumatised. After complaining and getting nowhere the dentist is claiming my wife refused the needle. Absolutely rediculous. She has never refused a needle in her life and all her records prove so. After my surgery I had nerve damage in my throat and the hopsital tried to cover it up. Also an implant was declared as being fitted in my body but the xrays and mri images I requested proved no such implant (a cage) was fitted!
Forget complaining because as far as the nhs are concerned we are all just chattle and unless you have the money to sue the nhs these no win no fee advertisers dont have the bottle to see a serious case through.

Unless you have a broken bone or something like that then forget about gp's and get into the mind set that you are in good health and your body will follow. This is truth.

We can indeed heal most of our own physical problems including overcoming pain. I have proved this to myself time and time againg including swine flue!

To look upon disease will create its appearence within the mind and then within the body.

See truth, disease is only an appearence and the reality is health.

The NHS complaints process is entirely unfit for purpose. Nobody knows how to carry out an honest and thorough investigation for fear of revealing the weaknesses in the system and operators, which let patients down causing misery and unnecessary suffering. The system is geared to protect NHS interests and nobody is disciplined or brought to book as they would be in outside jobs, even with simple Health & Safety breaches.

For instance, within a GP practice, who is going to 'shop' a partner for incompetence, or ever admit it in an 'investigation'? I've seen it, and there is no recompense whatsoever - they just play dumb and don't answer your questions.. There's no recognition or ownership of the problem and no knowing if anything's been done about it.

The 'back-up' system, or Ombudsman, is completely out of touch with current practices, and can only manage to investigate about 2% of all complaints she receives (the Headliners I expect); the others are rejected without any intelligent reasoning applied, from staff who don't grasp the problem. The 98% of those who thought their complaint wasn't investigated properly never get an investigation at all. They feel put down, disgusted and disillusioned, and I quote from experience.

I didnt like anything the Royal Oldham hospital was a disgrace it were filthy it took the cleaners 3 days to clean the blood of the floor. It also took them 10 hours to clean the bed which was full of blood i asked them at 8 o clock they said they would change it then but they didnt so i asked about another 5 member of staff which also said i will be with you in a minute but they did the same an never came back. So i ended up changing it my self 10 hours later. My girlfriend also required stitches after giving birth the midwife who gave her the stitches said she was blind as a bat i thought she was joking but she wasnt because the stitches were that loose that theyve fell out so now shes got to go back and have them done again. I could carry on all day long but hopefully you will read this and not make the same mistake we did and go to a different hospital.

I read with disgust that the BBC reports the NHS as providing Heroin to addicts
basically on the grounds of "it costs less than the effects of crime would". Really? Well, on that basis, I have a couple of questions : firstly, if I state my addiction to photography and my intention to rob a camera store, will the NHS buy me a new Nikon DSLR? Secondly, one of my friends read the article and has described themselves as single and a potential 'intimacy addict" and was wondering if you could set them up with anyone? Finally, most of my friends and I think we may be addicted to food and were wondering if you'd send us some restaurant vouchers so we don't have to casually shoplift fruit from Tesco or something. I think you'll agree that your actions in assisting my friends and I will certainly curtail our potential criminal activity. Oh, and I'd like a big-screen TV - it will be much more convenient for you to provide me with one than me having to steal one (and I'd only hurt my back carrying it, which would be a further drain on NHS resources, I'm sure you'll agree)

i have been having a lot of problems with my neighbour and there dog basically i haven't been able to sleep for weeks and i am getting very depressed over it and also noticed it seemed to be affecting my diabetes
i went to the doctors because it has got to the stage where i really can't control my anger.
i am now scared that if it comes to another confrontation i could seriousley hurt one of them
i explained all this to my doctor and all she has said is there is nothing they can help me with which i now find even more depressing i have tried everyone and everything to get this sorted but i cannot beleive my doctor will not help i have now found when i am getting really andgry i have started to hurt myslef

I went to a C.A.S.H Clinic (a clinic where they do cervical swabs etc) two days ago in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. Usually I would attend the one in Westbury, where the nurse there is extremely friendly and makes you feel proud that you are actually bothering to go and get yourself checked out! But, this time they had a huge waiting list so thats why i decided to go to Trowbridge. Basically from the second I walked into the reception i felt very rushed and unwelcome. I didn't know if I was in the right part of the hospital so when i came to ask the receptionist just butted in and asked for my name, then when i went in to get checked out the nurse was trying to pressure me into letting her take the swab and really drilled it into me that i must go on the injection or implant (which i really do not want to do as i had so much trouble with my periods on the pill!). She simply said 'I'm just doing what I think is best for you' and i said 'I know but i'd rather do it at my own pace through my GP' She was so rude with some of the other things she was saying to me! No wonder young men and women like myself don't bother getting checked out with nurses like that! I think that's put me off for life! Oh and another thing, she didn't even ask me if there was a chance I could be pregnant, she just said 'nope, you're not pregnant' and ticked a box! And as a matter of fact, I might well be pregnant as me and my long-term partner have been trying for a baby. Even when she asked me questions I couldnt finish what I was saying because she would butt in and but words into my mouth! It was humiliating, hurtful and disrespecful and I'm surprised she has been working for so many years! She should be sacked.

Radiology dept.
Was supposed to have barium /CT scan done. Given the completely wrong set of instructions - they sent me the wrong letter with the wrong information and now it has cost me yet more time. Were not helpful and tried to evade taking responsibility for their mistake - embarrassing me in the main lobby because I dont have my own home telephone.
I Suggest: OPT for another place to have scan. Queen Mary's hospital has some very well run depts: ATC for example and the Day Case Unit . Radiology however is badly managed, causing inefficiency and in my case - a possible cancer suffer - yet another valuable month lost in the diagnosis process. Thank you qm radiology dept for not fufilling your responsibilities or duty of care.

Beware NHS Dental patients, I have found some Dentists around the SW8 do not give proper examinations, and recommend the cheapest options, not the best, like tooth extraction or filling over an infected nerve, if you are unable to pay them private rates for more come complex treatments, such as root canal.

Get a second opinion, if you are not sure about what you are being told is correct. This has got to stop before we all end up toothless, or with rotting teeth.

The care my husband has been receiving has been excellent at fazakerley hospital in aintree.
My issue is with the reception in clinic 6 and 7. They give you such a hard time about everything from booking an appointment to asking for further information on where to go or for additional forms that are needed. They have such a bad attitude. I realise they're asked for the same information all the time but it's not the patients' fault.

I recently went to my GP and was prescribed 2 medications. I gave the prescription to the Pharmacy and paid £14.80 for both items and waited for them. I was then told that they one of the medications alright but that they only had 1 weeks worth of the other item and they gave me an "I.O.U" for it, and told me to come back the next day, I did so, but just missed them, I went again the next day to be told they were having trouble obtaining the item and I would have to come back again after the bank holiday. I asked them what would happen if they couldn't get the rest of the missing item, and was informed that I would have to get another appointment with my GP, get another prescription and that I would be charged for it again. I don't see how this can be right, as they did not complete the prescription but charged me for the whole thing. Has anyone else been in this situation? I will be ringing the NHS PCT to ask for the official stance on this, and will be making an official complaint if they say this is so. It's an absolute disgrace if it is!!!

I've been trying to get an appointment with my GP and I keep getting told to ring at 9am, when I do I can't get through because the line is busy. when they finally pick up I get told to ring back because all the appointments have been taken. I really don't know what to do. The receptionists have the cheek to get angry and tell me to take the appointment with the practice nurse if i'm that desperate. I haven't been able to see my GP for over a year because every time I ring he's either on holiday or fully booked. Now they've got a stupid system in place where we get put through to the practice nurse and she will then put us through to the doctor, and if she thinks we're not sick enough to see him then we don't get an appointment. Great isn't it!

I have a question. Why when the Doctor issues a Repeat Script does the Doctor have to print out one script for each repeat rather than printing with script stating the number of repeats to be issued? Why does the Pharmacy not have a computer system whereby they can enter the number of repeats authorised by the Doctor and then print the number of remaining repeats on the label placed on the packaging of the prescribed item?

In theory you want to save money and reduce waste – printing the repeat script for each repeat is a waste of money compared to printing the script once

-the rule of being in the catchment area of a practice should be abolished, as this facilitate badly run, non-professional GPs to practice medicine and sometimes, as a consequence, people get killed by their GPs incompetence;
-patients should be allowed to register whereever they want;
-if a practice runs badly, 2 get shut down, because the number of patients is very low (inefficient to keep this open); only in case of depopulated areas to allow the practice to be open, up and running, if the patients are pleased with the practice performance.

-patients should have the option to allow to some people to have access to their records during their life time and after death (their folowers' lives may be same by the information provided through their parents or grandparents medical records);
-the blood group of each person should be legally recorded in their IDs/passports, as in case of accident, it's best and quickest source of information for an ambulance;

-my previous practice receptionist ‘forgot’ 2 update my details, same update of address requested for 3 times & I missed my physiotherapy appointment because of her lack of professionalism;
-direct access 2 specialist treatments & walk in clinics for each speciality you name, as this waste of paper & envelopes & calls & salaries for the ones who r handling docs….is futile…non-efficient…damaging patient’s health by having a delayed treatment & is not cost effective for NHS (like GUM Clinics);
-an easier way 2 complain & 2 follow up a complaint;
-images, such Xrays, MRI scans etc, to be in the patient possesion as well as scan on the GPs PC;

-accountability & fairness in treatment: CCTV cameras 2 work 2 film not only the possible abusive patient, but receptionists & GPs as well; any patient 2 be able 2 have access 2 their recorded time spent in the practice or 2 privately record his/her session as some has memory problems, others language difficulties & some are really bullied by the staff & they need 2 have a proof of the staff’s behaviour when they complain about it;
-transparency & openness: what GP writes down in the PC should be shown 2 patient immediately, enabling immediate amendments or printed for patient’s own use, if requested; many cases of misunderstandings due 2 language difficulties or lack of professionalism; some patients want 2 treat their illnesses in different countries or 2 have their medical records back in their native countries as well; patient are not DUMP persons, they are the most interested people in their healing and they know best their illness; many temporary GPs who have no idea about the evolution of some patients’ chronic diseases or patients health past;
-abolishment of this 10 min appointment rule (once, I discussed with my former GP about my stomach & when I said I also have ear infection, I was told off & sent 2 make another appointment as it’s a different matter & we finished my allocated 10 min appointment time);
-respect towards patient’s requests & suggestions without having to put up with haughty behaviour from medical staff (some patients are educated level 7 & they’ve studied their illnesses better than the GPs; patient is the one who is keen on getting healthy for sure, as for GPs, many appointments means more money, situation which creates lack of interest of GPs 2 heal their patients quickly & causes an enormous financial waste, not to mention patients’ suffering );
-access online to patient’s own medical records, where the details could be amended easily & verified if they r up 2 date by any patient

I went to the local endoscopy unit for a colonoscopy and ended up with a perforated bowell,spending 2 days in ICU and 4 days on the ward,although the did tell me that it could happen,it was highly unlikely that it would.I sent a letter of complaint into the hospital and after approx 6 weeks had a reply stating that the colonoscopy was successful,how can the say that after the perforated bowell.I am unable to work after having an ilioscopy (stoma fitted) and waiting for a date for the reversal.I feel very angry that it seems to be swept under the carpet.

admitted to derriford hospital following a recent heart attack.Doctor forced an injection into my stomach against my wishes ,telling me I had no choice.
Following day I was made to have a ct scan again against my wishes.
I was not allowed home until I agreed to have an angiogram done , I did not want to but had to agree in order to go home.
I felt a prisoner and it should be a disgrace that these Doctors did not need consent to do these things.

I got advised by my nurse & a doctor to go on the depo jab. i was 18 years old, this was because after 3 years of trying to convince my neurologist that my epileptic fits were due to hormones (fell pregnant-got epiliepsy. had periods - had fits) it was finally decided the depo jab was my only choice that wouldnt confuse my epilepsy drugs. when i went for the first jab i got told it can be given either in my bum or arm. That was it. no leaflet, no other words of warning, just that & a card saying my next due jab date. im now coming up to jab number 3, have experienced many changes & have had to look on the internet for information of many of my symptoms. & i thought the internet was the worst place to look for medical help...its done more for me than what my doctors & nurses have!!

hi i went to a clinic in chesterfield to have my contraceptive implant removed the dr injected my arm to numb it but didnt check to see if had worked n before i knew it she had already cut me we the scalpel when i screamed her reply was it usually had numbed by now i even felt her inject me again

Please allow me to vent my anger.

Early hours of the morning my partner was throwing up and had severe rib pains.
when she asked me for a doctor I phoned the out of hours service. the person who answered clearly did not care in the slightest. After she gave her details and it was clear she was staying with me (not living with me) he just said "you're phoning the wrong need to phone through your GP."

I highly doubt a doctor would travel the best part of an hour out to my house just because she is registered with them.

Now I don't know how Out of Hours is supposed to work. maybe she SHOULD have phoned HER GP. But his attitude was very un helpful. and what is to stop him from giving over the phone advice..if for nothing but to learn how to cope with the situation whilst we wait for another doctor?

NHS...sort yourself out.

My son who is 8 years who ahs been suffering for over 18 month with his breathing and sore throats. After countless trips to see the doctor they agreed he should go see the ENT consultant. ENT agrred he needed an Adenoidectomy. This was booked for for the first week of September this year. We prepared him the best we could for the operation but unfortunatly we recieved a phone call the night before saying it had been cancelled. Our son took it well but we were emotionally tired just though the build up. We were given a new date, two week after. Again we prepared him and this time he was scared, he stopped eating in the day leading up the op. We arrived at Pinderfields hospital on theh morning, he was ready for theatre. My son how at that was had tears running down his eyes the whole time we were there, the poor lad was scared. The doctor came down and said a filter had broken and the operation was cancelled. We were told to go home. AGAIN we have been given another appointment for this Monday. My son isnt eating he has started to wet the bed agian and he has been having nightmares. I came home form workk Friday to find a message on the answer phone " I am sorry to inform you there is a problem in theatre and your operation has been cancelled for Monday". I am at my wits ends. I have used 3 days holiday and i do work for a living. I have cried, my son is still not eating, even school have said he doesnt look well. I have to wait until Monday now, another holiday day used. I cant see me ever getting him their. I have contacted my local MP. Not sure what o can do now.

I am having an ulcer redressed every few days on my leg, where I go for treatment the nurses dab a bit of gauze in some saline and rub the inside of the wound then re-dress the infected wound which is extreeemly painful and leaves you reeling in pain for days.
A friend just six miles up the road has a similar condition his nurses bathe his leg in a bucket of salt water be as gentle as possible drying the area with a sterile towel apply special cream to his leg then re-apply a new dressing, my leg ulcers do not heal for up to five years attending my own surgery, I attended his surgery as a temp resident once for two weeks and my ulcer that I had for three years healed up in two weeks, somehow I think I am living in a postcode lottery I sked NHS direct for info relating to the treatment of leg ulcers and they said they couldnt comment what a waistef time they are the sooner they get rid the better. I cannot get a difinative answer to the correct treatment of a leg ulcer, they use expesive dressings others will cut corners in order to save money at the cost of your health, there really needs to be a standardised level of treatment set up for legs ulcer treatment right across the board, I got a second opinion from a nursing manager that rubbed a few noses up the wrong way she was happy with the self administered treatment I was doing at home cleanning my own wound properly, my surgery wouldnt writwe prescriptions for the expensive dressings even though I was prepared to pay the £80.00 for five dressings myself the nursing manager told them to prescribe the dressings and as soon as her back was turned they refused to write any prescriptions for the dressings.they are gambling with our health if you have a good service you afre very lucky indeed.

choosing a gp is not as they say, you can ask any in your area only to be told you are not in their catchment area. I dont want the one that is in "my catchment area" so how do I get the one I want to register me

I take it this information if only a nhs fairytale. I want to know when it will become legal so I can have my true choice

Over the last 4 years I've sufferd almost constant ear, nose, throat, mouth and skin infections, mainly on the right side of my head. Sometimes this would be so bad, lasting weeks at a time, that I was in total despair. I attended my surgery almost two dozen times in the last three years, and have had to go to casualty twice when my jaw became swollen and I developed a fever. I have had to see five different gp's at my surgery, and each one has had different opinions and prescribed different medication. Finally, after a visit to a Dermatologist I was diagnosed with a deep seated and long term jaw infection. I now need surgery to remove the infected bone, and will lose several teeth. had I been taken seriously and treated copetently in the first place it would not have got this bad. I have been through the complaints procedures and it's a joke. There are more get out clauses and loopholes than it's possible to list.

So many above echo my feelings too. It's mainly the apathetic staffing of GP Practices. I've considered a more permanent solution as I teach 65.

my g.p. surgery is a disgrace u cant get through on phone to 8.55 then appts have gone and u r blantely lied to ...u have to be there 8.30 outside pensioners ever one else.the check in machine never goes by now should have binned it.yr perscriptions left chemist for repeat never done so u have to go bk surgery to get it signed so whats point repeat perscription.the staff are so rude they talk amongst themself while u r standing like a fool.the practice manager walks around in a trance i complained to him but referred my letter to my doctor who had it underlined on my appt and addressed me about it whats role practice manager bad business practice.was told my letter would be held on file was told by health authority this was not allowed.more say next visit to my laptop this is just start..........then theres king georges hosp on top..........

My Wife had a headache on july 24th with slurred speech and unbalanced stance, one pupil was larger than other and Lymph glands were enlarged. Gp said on four occaisions due to stress. when we paid privately to see consultant that was being denied to my wife she was in hospital instantly and two hours later I knew the worst she had walking death cancer and now i am being denied treatment for some illness which will not go away suffering for 5 weeks and doctors do not know what is wrong, disgusted
