Active Hastings ran an all day event called ‘Swap your weekend routine for a day of fun.’ Its aim was to get families living in Hastings and St Leonards to take part in some physical activity sessions.
The everyday routines were thrown out in favour of a day of activities that included everything from tumble gym to cheerleading, swimming to trampolining, ball games and circus skills. There was something for everyone and all abilities.
Local sports centres and resident children's centres partnered with Active Hastings to put on the event, which was more successful than expected.
All the activities were free and they even cooked up a batch of free homemade soup and served it along with the Change4Life recipe cards. To complete the day, every family went home healthier, and happier.
Reach: Over the course of the day, they registered over 300 families.
Resources used: Change4Life stickers, "Swap It" leaflets and snack swappers.

There's a real green focus to the Chesham Fold TRA's activities, which covers both diet and outdoor activities.
With the help of Six Town Housing, the group has a greenhouse where the children have planted vegetables. This has a double benefit for the community - the children enjoy growing the vegetables, and they will be distributed to families living on the estate.
In addition, the group also participates in a Green Gym environmental project, run by the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers / Bury MBC, in Chesham Nature Local Reserve.
The children have planted up flower beds, and played building dens in the woods with the help of the Bury Accessible Nature Group (BANG) officer from Bury MBC.
Resources used: The group has used Change4Life posters, and may use the recipe cards in future.

In partnership with NHS Nottinghamshire Health Care County Health Partnerships, A Game of Two Halves is delivered by Notts County FC. It aims to promote a healthy lifestyle to Nottinghamshire schoolchildren.
Working with schools at grassroots level and with children in deprived areas is the cornerstone of the football club's community goals.
The initiative has the following objectives: improving health; addressing inequality; raising literacy levels; and improving social inclusion.
In the first half, a DVD is shown in the classroom featuring Notts County midfielder and team captain, Neal Bishop , explaining why healthy eating is important for his performance. In the second half, the children go outside for fun physical activities. They have a full fitness warm up and some team games followed by a game of football.
Linked to the Key Stage 2 Curriculum, A Game of Two Halves has been very well received in Nottinghamshire primary schools. Repeat visits have been requested for other year groups and bookings are being taken until summer 2014.
Reach: Over 5,000 children, and by extension their families.
Resources used: The sessions use 5 A DAY cards, and 'top tips for kids'.
