Our Services

On behalf of the NHS our pharmacists use their clinical expertise and practical knowledge to deliver a wide range of healthcare services to the public. Our pharmacies do a lot more than dispense prescriptions!

Our core services are NHS services commissioned by NHS Dorset (Dorset Primary Care Trust or PCT) and these are complimented by our personalised local services to the meet the needs of the local community in Weymouth & Portland. All NHS services we provide are FREE of charge to anyone exempt from NHS prescription charges and/or provided they meet the criteria for exemption set-out by NHS Dorset.

There is no need to make an appointment to see our pharmacists on most occasions and they can help you decide whether or not you need an appointment to see a GP. We have dedicated private consultation rooms in all our pharmacies where you can have a confidential conver

Disability services

Free Support for People with Disability
Our aim is to support all our customers in taking their medicines. This will sometimes require easy open lids, large print labels, medicines that are easier to swallow, medicines in blister packs etc. If we can change how we supply medicines to make them easier to take please talk to one of our team.

Genito-Urinary Medicine

Antibiotic Treatment for Women with Urinary Infection (NHS)
Our qualified Pharmacists can now offer women between the age of 16 years and 60 years with a mild urinary infection a “Pharmacist Prescription” for Trimethoprim antibiotic. The service offers a short 3 day treatment for mild urinary infections saving you a trip to the doctor. This service is delivered at the discretion of the pharmacist who may refer you to the GP if necessary.

Pharmacy chlamydia screening and treatment service

Chlamydia is a sexually transferred infection that is increasing particularly in the 16-24yr age group. Chlamydia is often called the ‘silent’ disease due to the absence of noticeable symptoms.
Women - If left untreated, the chlamydial infection can spread to the womb, and cause Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). PID is a major cause of infertility, ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage.
Men - may experience a urethral discharge. Approximately half of all men with symptoms have impaired fertility, such as epididymitis
• You can pick up a free test kit in any one of our pharmacies.
• Should you receive a positive result then our accredited pharmacists can supply you with antibiotic treatment.

Pharmacy NHS service: medicine use review (MUR) service

Our accredited facilities and trained pharmacists provide a Free consultation to review your medicines. During this review we will discuss and check you know what each medicine is for, if any unacceptable or dangerous side effects are occurring and that you are getting the best out of your medicines. During this review you are welcome to ask our pharmacist about any issues related to your medicines or general health.

We are one of a handful of Pharmacy sites across the NHS Dorset area offering free NHS health checks to people at risk of developing a serious cardio vascular problem. Wheelchair services

We have a large number of wheelchairs to hire primarily from our Crescent Street pharmacy. This store is within easy reach of the Weymouth’s seafront. Please call the store team to make your reservation or pick up our Wheelchair Hire leaflet. Wheelchairs can be delivered and collected (Mon-Fri) for a small fee.
