Dental procedure

Good day,
I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff and the anaesthetist who treated my daughter Lilly on the 6 June 2014 for her dental procedure. We travelled all the way from Farnborough, my daughter is only 4 years old and she had to have 4 teeth removed, as you can image for a mother this was quite stressful, I had no sleep on Thursday evening, stressing as all moms do. The staff were very informative from the minute we arrived there. I unfortunately didn't get any of the staff nurses names, so I'd just like to say thank you so much, they informed me and my husband every step of the way, the staff in Theatre were brilliant trying to distract Lilly whilst they were administering the anaesthetic. I would highly recommend this hospital, well I have already, and I think that the hospital and staff that I dealt with were great, wish I could Thank them individually! There is so much negativity in the world, and too few Thank you, the staff/ people that go the extra mile really do need to hear how great they are! Thank you very much, for making my daughters stay a lot more peaceful than anticipated.
Best regards
Claudette J

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your positive experiences at Southampton General Hospital. We are pleased to hear how supportive the staff were to Lilly and her family. We understand that having a child in hospital is a stressful time for the child and family, therefore trying to alleviate this by communicating well and providing high standards of care is of utmost importance. We wish Lilly a speedy recovery and will forward your comments to the Matron for her to share with the staff.

Exemplary care - praise where praise is due

Have had a very stressful and worrying few months after being diagnosed with Skin Cancer in September 2013 and being referred to Southampton Maxillofacial unit. The staff on both the Maxillofacial unit and on the day (and of course the staff in the CT scan and nuclear medicine unit) could not have been kinder and more sympathetic and softened the blow of what I was going through.

My partner and I cannot thank enough the doctor and his team for their kindness and humour and guidance through this difficult time - with the best outcome I could have wished for.

Special mention has to go to the Receptionist in the Maxillofacial Unit who was always smiling and nothing was ever too much trouble considering she was working on her own and often had a queue of people waiting to book in (as the booking system wasnt working). She always had a smile and was cheerful even when dealing with the more difficult of visitors.

24 hour care after orbital floor repair under GA

I was transferred from Theatre to F5 Max Fax ward for 24 hours. The ward was clean and busy. The nurses were busy with patients all the time . They nursed their patients with professionalism and cheerfulness. My faith in the NHS was restored after all the tales one hears. I would certainly recommend this ward to anyone having surgery.
The ward sister actually knelt on the floor to wash the feet of an elderly lady prior to putting on clean Ted stockings!
A good experience.

Hospital Comment

What I liked

entry was free

What could have been improved

Receptionist did not log us in , Consultant had an arrogant attitude sidelining us in favour of anouther patient , when we arrived had to rebook to be seen, their off hand disinterested sour attitude ,made us feel like geriatric care is a burden to them, why ?
This member of staff has set my dad back years.Who does this consultant think they are ,they do not seem happy in their job ,what hippocratic oath, totally out of the window .very very disappointed and let down by this department.

Any other comments

Bring in fresh enthusiatic competent NHS committed doctor .

What I liked

Had emergency jaw surgery following an unprovoked attack! Emitted via A & E and had surgery the same day massively impressed with the professionalism and care I received! A very good hospital department and the after-care was also brilliant.
