Excellent visit today!

I went today for a run up of an appointment the staff were all so friendly and easy to talk to and I think it was possibly the best experience I have had in a hospital! I didn't feel nervous around the staff at all and they made me feel so at home! Would recommend this hospital so much!! Thank you again to the staff, you have been incredible today!! :-)

Put at ease

I arrived on the 1.2.17 for a hysterectomy, I felt nervous but was put at ease by the staff that work there the receptionist was warm and friendly to everyone that arrived and it was 7am.
The nurses were professional and made sure that I understood everything that was happening and at what time, the anethetist and consultant arrived for a chat before the operation and I felt more at ease.
After the operation I was looked after by a lovely member of staff in recovery who made sure I was comfortable and was checking on me constantly before I was moved to the ward.
All the staff on G2 that looked after me were friendly and respectful and I received excellent care on that ward.
Thank you to all involved.

Theatre admission and gynaecology

I was recently admitted for TAH and BSO. I was quite anxious running up to my operation but from the moment i arrived at the TAU i was put at ease. Everyone was so kind and reassuring and explained everything that was about to happen. My surgeons and the anethetist came to talk to me to make sure i understood what was happening. Waiting to be called down after all the pre checks were done was quite a worry knowing it wouldnt be long, but i was soon put at ease again by the person who chatted whilst we walked down to theatre. I actually cant believe how calm i felt before being put to sleep. Before i knew it i was waking up in recovery and later moved to the ward. (although dont remember much about the time inbetween) The ward was very clean and staff very friendly and lthough very busy were always available if i needed them. The fact they were very busy did however make you feel you didnt want to bother them too much Thank you so much to everyone involved in my surgery and recovery both in the TAU and on the ward. The surgeons, the theatre staff, reception/admin and nursing staff and any other support staff.

Life saving surgery

My daughter was admitted to hospital following a suspected ectopic pregnancy. I can not praise the staff enough for their speedy assessment of the situation, the life saving surgery preformed and the care the 4 anaesthetists provided during her surgery.

Following her surgery she spent time on the Critical Care Unit where staff whilst caring for my daughter took the time to keep her husband and myself up to date on her situation.

The next morning following surgery and her being taken her off the ventilator the consultant surgeon visited her along with colleagues, informed her of what had happened and what they had done to save her life along with her future fertility.

She was later transferred to Ward G2. The staff there not only cared for my daughter but allowed her husband to visit well outside of usual visiting hours. This allowed him to support her following this surgery but also allow both of them to come to terms with losing their baby.

One doctor stands out for their care and kindness as not only did they visit my daughter twice a day to establish how well she was recovering but they also found the time in their busy day to listen to my concerns re my daughters emotional wellbeing.

I must thank the staff on the Critical Care Unit who followed up my request for a priest to visit my daughter, this gave me a great deal of comfort at this difficult time.

I would also like to thank the member of staff who visited my daughter following her surgery, this person had seen my daughter as she enter the unit and realised that she was unwell and gone to get assistance.

I feel that my daughter could not have received better care anywhere in England and will be eternally grateful to all concerned.

Words can not express my gratitude.

Outstanding.

Today I had an appointment in the gynaecology department of the Jessop wing of the Sheffield teaching hospitals. I was called in before my appointment time, I saw the consultant who explained everything to me in terms that I fully understood which helped me decide the treatment plan I should have, the nurse that was there to assist was very kind and reassuring. The treatment was carried out at the consultation appointment which means I don't have to make another appointment. I was very grateful of the outstanding care I was given at the Jessop Hospital today. Thank you.

This was a second attempt at this surgery as the first was at a different hospital. The care at this hospital was amazing from the consultant to the cleaning staff.
