Charles R gave Accident and emergency services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital a rating of 5 stars

Outstanding service!

I visited the A&E department late on Saturday night at my girlfriend's behest following a motorcycle collision earlier that evening which had left me badly battered, but principally as a puncture wound was bleeding continuously. I was treated extremely well - even if the doctor who examined me gave me a good telling off for not having visited earlier! The staff were all extremely professional and caring, and I admired their patience with the usual mass of drunken Saturday nighters. One was walking around drunkenly begging for a cigarette, whining that "All I want is a ciggy!", another little hard man who'd had his jaw broken in a fight whingeing and refusing to have a canula inserted because it "Looks like straw, it's going to kill me, man!" I was sent to a ward and released the following evening. The ward staff were angels, calmly cleaning up after an old man with dementia had thrown a bed pan full of urine across the ward without complaint. Every member of staff I encountered - from reception through triage nurses, porters, ward nurses/assistants and doctors - was exemplary. I have the highest regard for those working in the NHS and those at Chesterfield Royal are among the very best. Thank you for looking after me!

Thank you so much for such a glowing report! The teams will be delighted to receive your comments. Delighted you had a short stay and we agree with your girlfriend and the doctor!! Sometimes a visit to ED is required! ?? Hope you're making a good recovery. Kind regards Sarah Turner-Saint head of communications
