The hospital cares for more than 356,000 people who live in and around Ipswich and East Suffolk. It employs just over 3,200 full time equivalent members of staff.
A teaching hospital affiliated to the University of Cambridge, the University of East Anglia and University Campus Suffolk, it was voted one of the best places to work by the Healthcare 100 2009 and 2010.
The hospital is currently one of only 12 acute hospitals across the country taking part in a King’s Fund Enhancing the Healing Environment project to create an exemplar ward which is much more accessible and welcoming to people with dementia.
