Musgrove Park is a successful, progressive and ambitious District General Hospital, the largest in Somerset, with an excellent reputation for providing a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and specialist services. An NHS Foundation Trust since 2007, with over 12,000 members, the hospital has received consistently good external ratings from the Healthcare Commission. Musgrove has more than halved healthcare associated infections and achieved the 18 week referral to treatment target a full year ahead of schedule. One of the first hospitals in the country to embrace the IHI inspired Safer Patients Initiative in partnership with Torbay hospital, we were named as the most successful hospital (with Torbay) in the initiative in 2008 and again in 2010 (with Luton and Dunstable). Teams from Musgrove have won regional and national awards for innovation, communication and clinical excellence in the last three years.
To add to the new £6m cardiology unit opened in September 2007 and the 750 space on site multi storey car park, our new £20m Cancer Centre, The Beacon, opened in May 2009 and a new state of the art, all single room surgical block will be commened later this year
