Overview

The Henderson Hospital and Outreach services are now closed. A public consultation into the provision of Tier 4 services for East of England, South Central, the South East Coast and London was held between 20 April and 27 July 2009 and the decision reported on 11 November 2009. The decision was that the 62 PCTs in these regions wanted 1 residential unit and 4 outreach teams, one in each region.

The 4 Specialist Commissioning Groups in these regions were tasked with developing a service specification and submitting a Business Case to the PCTs. However, due to the proposed changes to the NHS there has been a delay in this process. The East of England SCG is leading on this and progress can be followed on their website http://www.escg.nhs.uk

The interim arrangement will be to continue to place those who require a Tier 4 Personality Disorder service on a cost-per-case basis.

A conference celebrating the work of the Henderson is being planned for 2012. If you would like information about this please contact Diana Menzies on diana.menzies@swlstg-tr.nhs.uk

If you would like information on therapeutic communities this can be found on the ATC website at www.therapeuticcommunities.org or the Community of Communities website at www.communityofcommunities.org.uk.
