Sandmere Practice chosen by Dell as one of the UK's top ten Innovative small businesses for 2008

What does the NHS choice website and the Sandmere Practice have in common. They both use the same technology to deliver added value to patients. In 2004 the Sandmere Practice implemented a range of new technologies that helped it revolutionise the way it delivered its service to patients. From remote home based monitoring to a shared care record the use of innovative technologies were endless. Even more remarkable is that these technologies were all developed by the Practice team and close colleagues. Please see the Dell website below. http://www.dell.co.uk/ceaward

Prince Philip visits local pharmacy to see the IT link between the Sandmere Practice

On the 3rd June 2008, Prince Philip visited Boss pharmacy where he observed the IT link between the Sandmere Practice. The IT link developed as far back as 2005 is one of the first examples of the NHS shared care record that is in use. Developed by the practice team the supplementary pharamcist is now able to consult with specially chosen Asthma and COPD patients and support the practice in delivering care to patients. Remote Home Based Monitoring

As part of an extensive research project (City University) funded by the European Union and ethical approval by St Thomas' Ethical committe in 2003 the practice has done much work in this field. Dr Harrar who has a distinction in Health Informatics MSc from City University has ensured the practice remains at the forefront of telemedicine and continues to develop it further. More recently the practice was involved with the NHS modernisation initiative in providing stroke patients with a remote home based monitoring device to monitor their well being.
