Dr Leslie Lowenthal

Dr Lowenthal has decided to reduce his hours from full time to three quarter time from September. He is hoping to spend more time examining for the Royal College of Practitioners. Patients can still see him if they wish or they are welcome to see one of the other doctors in the practice. A new doctor will be appointed in due course to cover both his and Dr Cave's reduced hours. 26.4.12

Dr Mary Dyson

After nearly 20 years at The Downland Practice, Dr Dyson has decided it is time to move over and allow one of those enthusiastic young doctors a chance. She will retire at the end of September. Dr Dyson originally came to the practice as a locum in 1993 and then became assistant to the late Dr Elizabeth Bingham before jobsharing with her and eventually taking over her list when she retired in 1996. Dr Dyson comes from Bristol originally, trained at Newcastle upon Tyne, did her house jobs in Surrey and Sussex and came to this area to finish her GP training with a stint in psychiatry at Fair Mile Hospital. She stopped full time work for several years while her children were growing up and then gradually came back into practice via Wallingford Medical Centre and various other practices in Oxfordshire and Berkshire. She will miss all her patients very much and all the staff at The Downland Practice but is looking forward to doing a bit more exercise, maybe getting on her bike more while she still can and doing some voluntary work!

Dr James Cave

Dr Cave is going 3/4 time in March. He is going to spend more time teaching and writing for medical literature.

New patients registering in his villages, e.g. Beedon, Peasemore and Chieveley, will be with Dr Bernadette Clarke.

Patients can, as always, change their doctor or visit any doctor they like. They only have to ask, eg personally, letter, email, fax. 25.2.12

Practice Manager

Our new Practice Manager, Mrs Louisa Gilboy starts with us on May 8th 2012. We are all looking forward very much to working with her. While we have been without a manager for the past almost 6 months, we have been ably assisted by Mrs Christina Asprey and we thank her very much for all her help. She will continue as our Assistant Practice Manager after May 8th. 26.4.12
