Practice Nurse Update - September 2014

We are pleased to announce the addition of  Practice Nurse Sister Gillian Miller to our nursing team from September 2014.

The team at Adderley Green Surgery wishes to thank all of our patients for their understanding and apologise for any difficulties experienced in accessing nurse appointments during this transitional period.

We have also worked hard to improve on the services that we offer to all of our patients.  However, we are always looking for new ideas and suggestions, whether it be  new services, easier access or generally just to make your visit a more comfortable experience.  Your views are important to us so feel free to contact us at any time.

Dont forget to take a look at our monthly letter to keep you up to date with all our practice news.

Update On Appointments System

We have had feedback that some patients are unable to obtain timely appointments and there is some confusion about the system that we operate,

To clarify, our GP rotas are an equal split of appointments that may be  booked in advance, the remainder are same day bookings.  Free advance appointment slots for routine appointments can be booked a few weeks in advance.  The advance booking slots may also be booked on line.

By request we have now included on line booking for Practice Nurse appointments.

We are constantly monitoring our appointments system and are still losing up to 60 appointments each month by patients who fail to attend, usally pre-booked appointments.

We request that patients remember to cancel appointments that are no longer needed so that we may offer it to someone else.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Pharmacy Minor Ailments Scheme

As an alternative to seeing your GP, why not try the Pharmacy First Scheme.  They are able to offer a wide range of treatments, free of charge for patients who do not normally pay for prescriptions.  Take a look at the attached poster for conditions that they are able to treat.  Please note that the scheme has been extended until the end of June 2014.

Appointments System

We have been carefully monitoring our appointments system, which revealed that the majority of patients who book appointments in advance fail to attend, amounting to the practice losing about 20 appointments each week.  We have now re-designed our appointments system to offer patients easier access when urgent appointments are required and to reduce the rate of patients not attending.   A number of pre-bookable appointments are available for both morning and evening surgeries and can be booked in advance for up to 6 weeks for routine appointments.  The remainder of appointments are same day bookings which can be booked from 8.30am onwards.  A few on-line appointments will be available soon.

We now offer early morning appointments starting from 7.30am on Tuesday and Thursday mornings which may be booked in advance.

We have taken on board the review posted regarding the appointments system and will continue to monitor the effectiveness  of the new system.

Please do not hesitate to speak to us directly if you have any comments or suggestions for any further improvements, we greatly value the views and opinions of our patients.
