Named GP

As you may be aware, from April 2015, all practices have a requirement to inform registered patients of their named allocated GP and the named GP who has the overall responsibility for their health care and support.  The named allocated GP and named GP with overall responsibility for care for all registered patients at Adderley Green Surgery is Dr. Sri Sundaram. This does not mean that you can only see Dr. Sundaram, you may continue to see any other GP who is available within the practice.

Training Practice

Adderley Green Surgery is now an accredited training practice in partnership with Keele Medical School.  Dr. Sundaram and Dr. Weldon are both qualified GP trainers.

We are currently training Year 4 medical students in practice, over a period of 4 weeks per student.   We had a our first student in October 2014 and we have received very positive feedback from them in relation to our practice team and patients.

We are grateful for the support of all patients who are  willing to consult jointly with the GPs and medical student.  This has been invaluable to the development of skills and knowledge to our doctors of the future.

However, we appreciate that some patients would not be comfortable consulting with a medical student.  Just advise reception at the time of booking.

Please feel free to contact the practice if any further information is required.

We have now extended the range of contraceptive services that we offer at the practice to include contraceptive implant and coil fittings.   We have a female GP, Dr. Bala, who will be running specific clincs for coil fittings/removals.

An initial appointment for discussion with the GP will be required prior to these procedures.  Please ask at reception for more information.

We are also a DASH practice offering screening and contraceptive services to young people. If you have a C Card you may use this at this practice.

NHS 111 - call before you go

Call 111 before you go to A&E.

If you think you need to go to A&E, but it is not a 999 emergency, calling 111 first will help to signpost you quickly to the most appropriate service for you, which in some cases may be closer to home.

Appointments System

We have been carefully monitoring our appointments system, which revealed that the majority of patients who book appointments in advance fail to attend, amounting to the practice losing about 20 appointments each week.  We have now re-designed our appointments system to offer patients easier access when urgent appointments are required and to reduce the rate of patients not attending.   A number of pre-bookable appointments are available for both morning and evening surgeries and can be booked in advance for up to 6 weeks for routine appointments.  The remainder of appointments are same day bookings which can be booked from 8.30am onwards.  A few on-line appointments will be available soon.

We now offer late evening appointments on a Tuesday evening up until 7.30pm

We have taken on board the review posted regarding the appointments system and will continue to monitor the effectiveness  of the new system.

Please do not hesitate to speak to us directly if you have any comments or suggestions for any further improvements, we greatly value the views and opinions of our patients.

Pharmacy Minor Ailments Scheme

As an alternative to seeing your GP, why not try the Pharmacy First Scheme.  They are able to offer a wide range of treatments, free of charge for patients who do not normally pay for prescriptions.  Take a look at the attached poster for conditions that they are able to treat.

Update On Appointments System

We have had feedback that some patients are unable to obtain timely appointments and there is some confusion about the system that we operate,

To clarify, our GP rotas are an equal split of appointments that may be  booked in advance, the remainder are same day bookings.  Free advance appointment slots for routine appointments can be booked a few weeks in advance.  The advance booking slots may also be booked on line.

By request we have now included on line booking for Practice Nurse appointments.

We are constantly monitoring our appointments system and are still losing up to 60 appointments each month by patients who fail to attend, usally pre-booked appointments.

We request that patients remember to cancel appointments that are no longer needed so that we may offer it to someone else.

Thank you for your co-operation.
