Out of hours

We offer pre-bookable GP appointments Monday - Thursday 1800-1930 for our patients who can't get to see us in normal working hours - this is a limited service. We keep the reception and pharmacy open until 2000 on those evenings as service to our patients.

If you have a problem that cannot outside of our main opening hours (0800-1830 Mon-Fri) then you should contact the Out of Hours service by dialling 111 (free to call from landlines and mobiles). Our practice website www.worthingmedicalgroup.co.uk has links to a range of useful information about common problems.

Closure of Rowlands Road Surgery

It is with regret that due to the current economic situation and cuts to public service funding, the Practice has taken the very difficult decision to close Rowlands Road Surgery.

This will take effect from Monday 1 August 2011.

We apologise for any inconvenience this decision may cause you, but can reassure you that the full range of services and all Rowlands Road staff will be available at Shelley Surgery, 23 Shelley Road, Worthing.

If you would like to discuss this matter, please contact Mrs Sue Parton or Mrs Sandra Giammattei at Shelley Surgery.

Introducing NHS 111

NHS 111 is a single telephone number that will replace contracting both NHS Direct and Harmoni the out-of hours GP service.  The idea is to simplify options for patients and their relatives or carers and make the health system more easily navigated.

What is NHS 111?

  • A simple, free to call, easy to remember three digit number that is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • NHS 111 directs patients to the service that is best able to meet your needs taking into account your location, the time of day you are calling and the capacity of local services.

When should I use 111?

  • When it's not a life threatening situation and, therefore, is less urgent than a 999 call.
  • When you cannot see your own GP, for instance when the surgery is closed or you are away from home.
  • When you feel you cannot wait or are simply unsure of which service you require.
  • When you require reassurance about what to do next.
