Conditions that can be treated at the unit:

  • wounds - cuts and bruises (tetanus immunisation can also be given
  • bites - human, insect and animal
  • minor burns and scalds
  • muscle and joint injuries - strains and sprains, limb fractures
  • sports injuries
  • emergency contraception
  • eye problems
  • earche (patients over 2 years old)
  • cystitis (not children or male patients)
  • minor head injuries (with no loss of consciousness)

The unit does not provide:

  • repeat prescriptions
  • care for dental problems
  • treatment for long standing conditions
  • travel vaccinations
  • medicals
  • sick certificates

North Cambs MIU is now open at weekends from 8.30am to 6pm - 25 Jan to 30 March 2014.  No appointment necessary.  Patients requiring x-rays at the weekend will be referred to Doddington Hospital as required.

The Minor Injuries Unit at North Cambs Hospital is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. The Minor Injuries Unit at Princess of Wales Hospital, Ely is open Mon - Fri and Saturday and Sundays. The Unit is closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The Minor Injuries Unit at Doddington Hospital near March is open Mon to Fri and Saturday and Sundays. The Unit is Closed Christmas Day Boxing Day and New Years Day.
