About Hinchingbrooke Hospital

Hinchingbrooke Health Care NHS Trust provides high quality health care for the people of Huntingdonshire and surrounding areas. More than 160,000 people rely on our district general hospital for a range of services and we are renowned locally for our warm and friendly approach.

Following a procurement process known as Hinchingbrooke Next Steps, our operating franchise with Circle started in February 2012. This is the first time that the management functions of an NHS Trust have been delegated to a private company.

At Hinchingbrooke, we put our patients at the heart of everything we do - any patient coming to us for treatment should feel very confident that they will receive high quality, safe care. This has been endorsed by our recent award, from leading healthcare consultancy CHKS, which recognised us as the best Trust in England for quality of patient care.

Patients can access a wide range of specialties at Hinchingbrooke, including General Surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology, Vascular, Plastics, Breast Surgery and Gynaecology. Our hospital has 223 beds, including nine in Critical Care, as well as 23 cabins located in the Treatment Centre, a £22 million unit which opened in 2005. The Mulberry Suite is available for private patients.

An increasing number of referrals are now coming from family doctors in areas which traditionally have been referred to other hospitals. The main purchaser of our Trust's services is Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), and we also provide services to a range of CCGs across Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Norfolk, Lincolnshire and Suffolk.
