Our Services

Other services the practice offers are:

Medical Examinations - Life assurance, HGV and PSV licenses, fitness to drive, fitness to travel and other purposes. For these and other medicals contact reception for an appointment with the Doctor and Health Care Assistant. BMA recommended fees are charged.

Supervision of long term problems - This includes diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma and thyroid disorders. Appointments are bookable daily with the practice nurses. Ask at reception about the Living with Long Term Conditions programme for anyone with any long term health condition who wants to achieve the best quality of life despite their illness.

Hormone Replacement Therapy - Appointments bookable daily with the practice nurses.

Health Promotion Clinics - Run daily by Health Care Assistants by appointment including heart disease prevention, stopping smoking, weight management, high blood pressure and lung disease.

Asthma Clinic - Asthma Clinic

Child health and development - Paediatric Developmental Assessments

Clinics held weekly at Littlewick and fortnightly at the Dales branch surgery in West Hallam. You will receive an appointment invitation letter from the surgery.

Held at both Littlewick and the Dales surgeries. You will receive an appointment letter from the surgery.

Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC - eg IUD or implant) - Contraception Services

Available daily by appointment with appropriate GP or Practice Nurse.

Coil fitting is done at a weekly clinic at Littlewick.

Minor surgery (e.g. removal of moles and skin lesions) - provided in-house - Minor Surgery

Phlebotomy - Phlebotomy Clinic

We have a Phlebotomist employed at the surgery to take blood tests. This is a drop in service, you do not need an appointment, and is run from 8.00am to 12.00pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and from 7.00am to 12.00pm on Tuesdays. If you are attending for a blood test please go directly to the blood test waiting area and take a ticket.

Please phone the surgery for results after 2.30pm weekdays 7 to 10 days after the test.

Please Note: Fasting lipids (‘Cholesterol’) and/or Fasting Blood sugar (‘Glucose’). Nothing to eat, drink (other than water) or smoke 10 hours before the blood test is taken.
Glucose tolerance test : Nothing to eat, drink (other than water) or smoke from 10 hours before the test is taken.

There is also a phlebotomy service at the Dales Medical Centre on a Tuesday morning by pre-arranged appointment only.

Travel health with yellow fever - Travel Vaccinations

Appointments available weekly at both Littlewick and the Dales surgeries. Please ring to discuss your requirements with the Health Care Assistant as long before travel as possible.

We are also registered as a Yellow Fever Centre.

Please be aware that there is a charge for some vaccines to cover the cost of the vaccine itself.

Well Person Screening - Including blood pressure checks and urine testing performed by Health Care Assistants, and cervical smears for female patients performed by the Practice Nurses. Appointments bookable daily by ringing 0115 932 5229.
