Hammersmith is a postgraduate teaching hospital, famous for its research achievements.
It is home to the West London Renal and Transplant Centre, two large cancer treatment centres, a specialist cardiac service providing 24/7 primary angioplasty and is home to the largest clinical imaging centre in Europe. The Medical Research Centre’s clinical sciences centre is based at the site and works in partnership with the hospital and Imperial College London. The clinical imaging centre – the largest new clinical research imaging centre in Europe – opened in June 2007.
