Hello, Many years ago I damaged my back whilst serving in the army, not too serious at the time but since then I have suffered chronic sciatica, usually after extreme physical exertion. I have noticed that the condition is exacerbated by severe emotional and mental stress - bottled up and unresolved issues. I reckon there is a very close relationship between our emotional and physical selves. It got so bad, the usual symptoms so well described in previous comments, that I couldn't ignore it any more. I used the usual pain control but all that does is mask the pain and doesn't cure the underlying problem. In the end I saw a 'shiatsu' practitioner. She cured me, it was an amazing and miraculous experience. It wasn't a permanent cure but she realigned my body and released the pent up emotional stress. She also taught me exercises to alleviate any future flare-ups. Hope this might help others.
