National Awareness and Early Diagnosis Initiative

We know that, generally, the earlier a cancer is diagnosed the greater the chance it can be treated successfully. Raising awareness of cancer symptoms is a key part of Improving outcomes: a strategy for cancer, published in 2011.

Since 2008, the National Awareness and Early Diagnosis Initiative (NAEDI) has been working to improve the public’s awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer and encouraging those with symptoms to seek help earlier than they currently do. NAEDI also aims to support health professionals in diagnosing cancer earlier.
