How can I find my nearest GP and how do I register?

You can find your nearest GP by using Services near you. You will then be directed to a list of suitable surgery locations. Click the links to find out the services available, contact details and opening hours.

What are the waiting times for GP appointments?

There are no targets. Waiting times may vary between surgeries, but urgent appointments are generally offered on the same day and routine appointments are generally available within 48 hours.

Where is my nearest hospital?

You can find your nearest hospital by using Services near you. You will then be directed to the hospitals information pages, which contain information on the services available, contact details and, if applicable, opening hours.

How will hospital records be transferred?

Hospital records do not transfer from one hospital to another; however, a clinical summary of treatment is sent to the referring GP or military doctor, and the summary is retained on the patient’s GP medical record. GP medical records follow the patient wherever they register. A summary print out of any treatment, vaccinations and some tests will be included in your medical record. If further hospital treatment is required, a clinical discussion between hospitals may be required.

How do I find a new dentist?

You can find your nearest dentist by using Services near you. You will then be directed to a list of suitable locations. Click the links to find out the services available, contact details and opening hours.

Will the new dentist need to see my previous dental records?

Dental records are not routinely transferred like GP records. Your new dentist will create a new patient record following a dental examination. It is up to the patient to pass on dental records if receiving ongoing complex treatment. In this instance, it is suggested that patients make contact with their future dentist a couple of months before moving.
