from as early as I can remember I suffered from painful but numb blue hands and feet. I had chilblains too which swelled until they burst , I could not put my shoes on. In my mid twenties my GP sent me to see the consultant at the Birmingham general hospital. After numerous tests I was prescribed a drug called "Cycospasmol" . I was advised by the consultant to take a low dose to start with and increase it slowly until I had no symptoms. I finished up taking about ten to twenty a day. Then one day I needed a new prescription, there was a massive queue outside the surgery , and as I had another appointment elsewhere I was obliged to go without the prescription , and "ration" my Cyclospasmol ! Well I still remained free of symptoms, I lowered the medication slowly after that until finally I did not need the Cycospasmol. at all! That was the first time in my life.. twenty-eight years... that without Cycospasmol I was free of painful numb hands, halfway up my arms, and feet. I am now 71 and I can still go outside in the winter wearing short sleeves with no ill effects.I thank God for the Professor (as he later became) and Cycospasmol. Unfortunately it was not around when my sister developed the disease later on and she died as a result of "raynauds schleradermer" Does any one know why it is no longer available?
